Why always male villains?

Electra/Marceau was great, so here are her possible heirs:

- Sigourney Weaver
- Sharon Stone
- Cate Blanchet
- Theresa Russell
- ...

hmm, how about this guy http://us.imdb.com/N...n Dohlen, Lenny

UK CBn-ers would recognise him as "Cop" in the early 90's hit series "Red Dwarf". he just looks evil!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Michael Caine as a villain.
He has played a lot of roles where he's had a mean edge.
I just saw him in the great 1972 movie Sleuth where he and
Laurence Olivier were both nominated with an Oscar for Best Actor.

Actors I wouldn't mind seeing as villains in Bond:

Michael Caine
Gary Oldman
Alan Rickman
Jeremy Irons
Anthony Hopkins
Joaquin Phoenix
Ray Liotta
James Caan

Why James Caan , Ray Liotta , Joaquin Phoenix ? Those three i don't get . Alan Rickman in 1992 yes , now he is a bit long in the tooth . Anthony Hopkins maybe but after his last three films who knows . May need a hit. Jeremy Irons is a big question mark , would he want to do a Bond . In his case it wolud depend on how well it's written.

If you want a non-British actor to play the villain,
I think one of James Caan, Ray Liotta or Joaquin Phoenix
would fit in well. But then again, I'd like to see an older
actor, British if possible, to play the villain. I still think
Michael Caine would be really great in that part.
You didn't comment him, what do you think about him
as a Bond villain ? And he has a great accent !

Well truthfully Michael Caine will allway be Harry Palmer for me . My favorite non-Bond spy series . Producer by Harry Saltzman at the height of the Bond Craze . I don't now Caine would want to do something like that. Then again i might be fun for him. American do not make good Bond villians! Except for LALD , where the villians major and minor where Black-Americans . I just does not work for me . World Domination is something we screw up horribly . Look at George W. Bush .

I don't think Jeremy Irons has much trouble with 'selling his soul' to badly written movies. Remember, he was the baddie in Die Hard With A Vengeance, The Time Machine and Dungeons and Dragons.

But he can play a fantastic villain, which is why I chose him for Alistair Harmsway.

I've seen his name show up numerous times in other threads, so I'm somewhat surprised that no one has mentioned Sting as a possibility for a Bond villain. He is in terrific condition for his age and could be a good physical match for Brosnan in the final reel.

Patrick Stewart is another good choice although people may see him too much as Star Trek: TNG's Jean Luc Pcard.

Rutger Hauer perhaps?
Or maybe Christopher Plummer?
How about Patrick McGoohan?

Who would make a great villain?
Jan Declair. he's a Flemmish actor that was asked for TWINE.
I don't know if these rumours are true, but this guy is very serious and he said it himself so I suppose they are.
Anyway, just look at this man's expression!!!

Rutger Hauer would be just too cool, hehe.
Don't know if they'd ever ask him, but he'd sure be
a perfect fit...He has played some of the best villains
I've seen over the years...

Someone probably said his name already but Gene Hackman could make a good villain. He's a great actor, so the potential is there.

Patric Stewart would be great, he has a good voice, good screen presence and he has done an action movie with Brosnan.

Why does everyone keep suggesting British villians? As much as I'd like to keep the cast British, I think there is a definate need to have a foreign villain again, in the vein of Largo.

We've had too many british villains lately, and is following Hollywood's rules of "American hero, English villain". Even having an Englishman playing a foreigner isn't good enough, we need an Italian, Russian, or American villain again.

Saying that, Ben Kingsley should be Blofeld, he looks like Donald Pleasance's Blofeld, and is fairly frightening (Sexy Beast anyone!!!).

Get Tommy Lee Jones if you want an American. The scenes of him chasing Bond would be priceless. He's played a villain before in Under Seige, one of the few Seagal flicks that are watchable without too much unintentional laughter. See him also in JFK, as Clay Shaw. Good actor who could lend some menace to the thing.

How about a French villian? Someone mentioned Jean Reno earlier. He would give a stellar performance. Maybe he could play a French weapons dealer who is pitting the Middle Eastern countries against each other in a convoluted plot to rule the Middle East himself?

Von Hammerstein is this how a Mid-Eastern plot line would work . Or are you anti-French. Still it's a good idea.

No not anti-French or anti anybody. Just thought there hasn't been a really good french villian on the silver screen since Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Besides the great Bond villians were superior sorts, who knows better about acting superior than the French. (Kidding, just kidding)

I personally could see sean connery himself pulling off a great bond villian....the ideally "older, intelligent" villians of the old days. also would have to agree w/ everyone that jeremy irons would pull off a wonderful preformance. Gary oldman has also proved himself as the ultimate villain and would probably serve a rich preformance out...all three of these i see as wonderful adversaries to bond..

Nearly all the Brosnan main villains were youngish, apart from Carver. I think a more mature one would be good.

Ian Mackellan would be good, but I'd really want Lee Tamahori do to be the villain, as Sir Michael Aquarius.

He's the ulimate insider, second only to M. Slowly brings chaos to MI6 for his own ends.

Any of these actors would make fine Bond villains:

Alan Rickman
Anthony Hopkins
Gary Oldman
Jason Isaacs
Patrick McGoohan
Christopher Plummer
Herbert Lom(probably too old now, though)
and
Timothy Dalton(No. I am not kidding.)

If you go to the trouble of getting Connery, make him wear an eyepatch.

Oh now Connery...that would be interesting. He could be the ultimate insider that rips things apart from the inside...say maybe gets close to M?...kinda like "facts of death" w/ more of a sinster twist.....he could defintely provide us w/ a new generation Blofeld.

Connery doing scenes with Brosnan's M. To quote my alter ego, "OH...MY...GOD!" I like the idea of Connery's character getting involved with her and getting around and screwing with M16. Brosnan and Connery on the screen would be interesting, because of Connery's presence would really make Pierce be on his toes. I'm all for this idea. Quick, someone get Eon on the phone. I think we have their movie. And will someone just tell them to pay Connery whatever the hell he wants? If you can afford the things you put into Die Another Day, you can afford Connery. Get him.
