Another guy I'd like to see playing a villain is Irish actor Brendan Gleeson. He played Mickey Abraxis opposite Pierce's Andy Osnard in "The Tailor of Panama" (who could tell from that film that the guy is Irish?) and his Lord Johnson-Johnson in Steven Spielberg's "A.I." (the guy who ran the Flesh Fair) reminded me of a Bond villain, particularly the little speech he makes. He's soon to be seen in two high-profile Miramax releases, "Gangs of New York" this December and "Cold Mountain" next December. He also definitely has the look of a Bond villain. I don't know if he and Brosnan are friends, though it seems likely. I can't decide whether it would be better for him to square of against Brosnan's Bond or wait until the next guy so he'll be older (he's a year younger than Brosnan).
Enough young villains; they won't draw in the younger crowd like EON thinks they will. Older actors can develop followings among the younger generation, like Christopher Lee with his roles in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings and Ian McKellen with roles in Lord of the Rings and X-Men.

Huh?
I think you're confused - The DAD baddie is called GUSTAV Graves.
Peter Graves is an actor. He was in the Mission: Impossible Tv series, Airplane I & II and most recently Men In Black II.

Think about it - with 22 movies there has only been 1 black main villain.
MGM has said that Halle Berry brought in more black viewers - wouldn't a villain do the same?
I don't have anyopne specific in mind - but it's not like Yaphet Kotto was a household name at the time either.

I agree its about time we had an older villain. I'd second Jeremy Irons or Anthony Hopkins, although like others I'd like to see a non-English villian in Bond 21. We haven't had a Russian for ages.

After all, we have seen MI6 staff go bad before. Miranda Frost and 006 spring to mind.
Perhaps we could borrow a page from the immensely successful film Spiderman. Robinson could somehow develop a split personality, just like the Green Goblin did. Eventually, his secret would be revealed, and all of MI6 would be ordered to kill him. How, 007 would probably disobey direct orders, and try to save his friend's life.
If done properly, such a story could show real dramatic tension. If done wrong, then such a story could look even more cartoonish than Batman versus Two-Face!

From what I've heard, this might be difficult, but I would like to see the greatest action villain of all time be a Bond villain - ALAN RICKMAN. Who can beat his portrayal of Hans Gruber in DIE HARD???

Dolph Lundgren
Robert De Niro
Ray Liotta
Edward Norton
Adam Baldwin
Robert Patrick
For a black villain, try this guy for size - Steven Williams
Please let me know what you think of these people as potential Bond villains. Thanks!

He's the excellent French actor who gave an amazing turn as villain in "Kiss of the Dragon", was the French soldier in "The Patriot", and even portrayed Dimitri Mishkin in GoldenEye. It was a small enough part that people wouldn't notice him (although, he does have such a distinctive voice that people would wonder "Where have I seen this guy before?"). This guy is the most sinister bastard to hit the villain scene. He's got my vote.

Dolph Lundgren appeared ever so briefy in A View to a Kill, KGB scene.
Add to that, he's actually retired from acting now.
De Niro one of the greatest actors in US, yeah great villian, but you got a name like that, he'll act Pierce off the screen as a villian, if written good, and we want villians written good, De Niro would overshadow other actors in the film.
Ray Liota sounds very good, not a huge mega star, but well known, seems to blend in better.
Edward Norton, great a actor, be good.
Robert Patrick, perhaps not the main villian, but a secondary one.
Adam Baldwin, I would prefer Alec Baldwin, better actor, and could play a mirror image of Bond, Alec looks very much the Amercian Bond, just make him evil, make a great villian like Sanchez but different
These actors are long overdue for a Bond film though:
Alan Ruckman (Die Hard)
Jeremy Irons (Die Hard with a Vegeance, and loads of other great works
Antony Hopkins
All British, all could be great mirror images of Bond.
Jeremy Irons was featured on a fan fiction poster of Win, Lose or Die, looked great on it.
Thinking about it
give the film to Pierce and either Ray Liota or Jeremy Irons, and let them go at it, all have looked cool in suits, dangerous, and Irons very amusing at times.

Alec Baldwin I think would be great! To be honest, i don't think any of my previous mentioned villain recommendations would make it into a Bond film. Simply because they're not British, and all the principal villains of the Brosnan era have been. Jeremy Irons and Alan Rickman! Very good choices, and ones likely to be selected.

What i propose for Ray is an American style Bond. Bond's true equal, who can match Bond tit for tat, but with a more dangerous edge.
All the best anyway rich

Looking at Ray Liota towards the 2nd half of Goodfellas, when he's more gangster like, angry, loyal, twisted, perfect Bond bad guy.

Alan Rickman, he'd definately give Bond a run for his money,
Joss Ackland, who would in my opinion be a classic villian, more of the mastermind Blofeld style.

Hudson Leick (callisto in Xena)
Julliane Morris ( Rumina in that awful Sinbad series she was the only reason I watched it)
Jane Badler ( Diana in V)
also bring back SPECTRE I certainly could imagine the first two as Blofelds daughter. If you think logically an organisation of such magnitude with such assets would not dissapear overnight

or
DAVID BOWIE. He was first considered for the role of Max Zorin in A View to a Kill and he'd make a fantastic villain (and, on top of that, he could sing one hell of a theme song).

Although he's Scottish that is why I liked Robert Carlysle in TWINE. He had a brillaint accent.
Enough of the English villains, and I don't think Americans are great villains. I would welcome back Tchecky Karo (whatever his name is), or if it has to be English then it would have to be Mckellan.
Lance Henriksson would make a good baddie too. I remember him being mentioned for Die Another Day.
