Ah, villains!!!!!! My personal favorite part of a Bond film. It's the villains that give Bond the troubles, but it's the villains that move the story. Bond villains are out of this world!

I think a prime canditate is Anthony Hopkins. He has a certain menace about him, ( kind of like Karl Stromberg from TSWLM)

I would really like to see Anthony Hopkins as the next Bond villain. Perhaps he could be an "ally" to Bond, but is really the villain. Anyway that would be better than the same "good Bond girl gone bad in a 'plot twist'" story.

I think Gene Hackman could make a good Bond villian. He could play someone like the character Stromberg in The spy who loved me. Or why not Terence Stamp, he would also meet all the character demands for a bondvillian, he would be more like Scaramanga.

I'd like to see Bond tangle with another Scaramanga-type figure. Brosnan's last movie (hopefully) should have him face off and defeat an "equal". As Guy Hamilton says in the commentary to TMWTGG, he's able to talk with Bond on the same level. Stamp is just young enough for this to still work. Although, I still think Jean Reno as a French version would work quite well. And it's easy to imagine some tension between a British guy and a French guy.

...You have to construct a character before you cast an actor. What sort of villain would Fleming construct today? What would be his or her caper?

006 and Frost... yes that is too many. NOT! These 2 were only established in the one film they were in, I mean established over
a period of Bond movies.

Look at it this way most of Brosnans villains have been trators or some sort. We need to spice it up a bit.

Most of us expect the Bond villian to come from 'outside' cause we have been conditioned to expect that; for the villian to come from 'inside' is slightly fresher?

then if that happened then the plot would be the same as the rest of the movies.

But having it your way i.e the villian coming from 'outside' would also and much more so, have a similarity of plot. Having it your way - from 'outside' has been done much more than the villian coming from 'inside' so my way is seen as fresher because it has not been done that way as often as your way!

not really because you have more options for plot if the villian came from the "outside" as you put it.

Anthony Hopkins the villain!
Juliette Binoche for "Bond Girl".
Aston Martin DB5 for "Bond Car".
David Bowie for theme singer.
Phillip Noyce for Director.

JASON ISAACS FOR NEXT JAMES BOND!

just a suggestion ....instead of wasting your time and typing Jason Isaacs for the next 007 (which i agree with you 100%) just put that in your signiture or put Enforcer, Society for Jason Isaacs for 007 or something along the lines of that.It will save you more time.

Anthony Hopkins? I could see him as a Largo type villain. Cool, sophisticated and ruthless.
