Shakira would be great. Vanessa Williams would have been good, too, in the 1990s, as would Salma Hayek.

And even though she's a little TOO voluptuous to be a Bond girl, I've always wanted to see Nigella Lawson in a Bond movie.

There are a lot of beautiful women I would have loved to see play Bond girls. I definitely agree with those who mentioned Raquel Welch. I got a crush on her in like Junior High. Wow. She was a knockout. I did love her in Fathom. I've always found her to be one of the sexiest women. I would have loved to have seen her and Sean Connery cavorting together. That would have been some pair.

Almost happened twice in reality. Miss Welch was a contender for the role of Domino in Thunderball and Tiffany in Diamonds Are Forever but director Guy Hamilton vetoed the idea saying Raquel was "too much animal" and would have "no chemistry with Bond."

Raquel probably would have been reminiscent of Ursula, but I'm not sure that matters. Maybe it does or maybe it doesn't. I think nonetheless she was a very sexy woman.

I remember hearing that she was up for parts in two different Bond movies. I don't see where being too animalistic should have been a problem. After all Bond isn't exactly a wallflower. I think her and Bond would have had great chemistry.

But, of course, we'll never really know one way or the other. It's a shame though.

Oooh, I'm a big fan of Nigella's!

My top faves would be the stunning

Aishwarya Rai
Virginie Ledoyen
Julia Jentsch
Carice Van Houten
Ludivine Sagnier
Claire Danes
and the-Bond-girl-that-nearly-was-cliche, Monica Bellucci

I also love Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner, Catherine Zeta Jones, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie and Nathalie Portman but they are too big and probably would not do it.

My absolute all time favourite, Uma Thurman, would probably not look at the script!

Michelle Pfeiffer from The Fabulous Baker Boys/Catwoman period would have been fanstastic.

I prefer exotic, Bond girls who are are not fellow spies but strong independant characters caught up in the gale of the Bond world. I like eroticism and romance and something suggestive and salty but within the confines of the family certificate.

I would have no problem at all with Nigella Lawson. She's gorgeous.

Some other women of today I would love to see are Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Ziyi Zhang, Monica Bellucci, and Aishwarya Rai.

More than a contender, Raquel Wekch was signed to play Domino in Thunderball, but released so she could make Fantastic Voyage (Source: Rubin's THE JAMES BOND FILMS: A BEHIND THE SCENES HISTORY).

Julie Christie

A Thunderball contender was Julie Christie.
