But as I was reading all the books, there was someting wrong about that. The man didn't act as I the men on the cover were supposed to do in my mind.
So now, I picture a James Bond not very different from the comic books.

Casino Royale
Bond: switches between Connery and Brosnan
Le Chiffre: Peter Lorre
Mathis: The French waiter from "The Simpsons" (The one who had a stroke)
Live and Let Die
Bond: Connery
Storekeeper in Florida (can't think of his name): Gene Hackman
Everyone else pictured like in the movie
Bond in Benson Novels: Brosnan
Espada in Doubleshot: Older Antonio Banderas
Hera in TFOD: Red head in YOLT (Osato's assistant)
Well that's just a short list what about some of yours?

So far anyway. Goldfinger is next up, so I'll see if that trend continues, which I hope so because when I read Bond he's MY Bond, not someone elses.

Dr. No & Casino Royale: Connery
Live & Let Die, Goldfinger and The Living Daylights: Dalton
I picture the villains as all the actors or actresses in the films.
Gardner Novels: Dalton
Tamil Rehani from Role of Honor: The actor who played Cameron Shah in TLD.
Nena Blofeld: Famke Jansen
Benson novels: Brosnan
Goro Yoshida from Man With The Red Tattoo: Ken Watanabe
These are just a few that stick out in my mind!

I used to picture, more often than not a generic Bond which was based on McClusky's version. Recently though, I've been picturing Cary Grant everytime I read a Bond story. Ideal really, since that is who Fleming based Bond's appearance and mannerisms on.
Interesting choice and I can picture Cary in the role. Oddily enough he was Chandler's choice for Philip Marlowe and Deighton's for "Harry Palmer".

None of the actors that have played bond really look like Fleming's Bond but if i'd have to choose one i'd go with Dalton, he didn't have the perfect hair and he did have abit of a cruel look about him.

It's liek seeing a movie based on any other book, the character on the screen is just the casting director's idea of what the character is, doesnt have to be mine though.

But so far I've pictured Dalton, Craig and created my own vision of James Bond while reading. Like with Live and Let Die, I, from time to time, picture the girl looking like young Jane Seymour from the movie, and at times I saw my own vision of that character.
Imagination is a beautiful thing. Aint it ?
