Another thing about Jackmen he's like 33 or something, yet he looks mature enough to carry the role of a bit more youthful 40 year old, but he'll be a great long term Bond if they bag him for Bond 21 or even Bond 22, Brosnan has been for Bond for 10 years, Jackmen could be Bond FOR 16 YEARS AND FINISH THE SAME AGE AS PIERCE.

Owen is Older then Pierce was in Goldeneye, so he'll do a few and leave, Jackmen can have longativity.

I love them both and am very excited to see either one take over the mantle. Still love Pierce too but if a change has to be made I like both of these guys. If someone has already said it I apologize but if you guys read Fleming which I'm sure you do I believe it is in "Casino Royale" that Fleming describes Bond's initial appearance. He describes him as somewhat of a good looking Hoagy Carmichael. For you youngsters, do a google search on Hoagy Carmichael. He has a bulbous nose a kind of nice looking gangster type of look. Not a pretty boy by any stretch of the imagination. So what I'm saying is I 've got a gut feeling that if this choice was Fleming's and not Eon's he would choose Clive Owen. He is the epitome of what HIS Bond looked like not the cinema pretty boys we have had! So i love Jackman they cant go wrong there but if they want the Fleming Bond go with Clive he is the classic look of the novels!

I wouldnt mind having them as bond but not right now....it jsut doesnt seem right for eon to drop Brosnan like that ....they stop talking really fast....for a man who is the "Billion Dollar Bond" who has made only 4 movies and grossed more than Connery, I think they owe him this last one to the stipulations he wants it. It would only be fair.

While looking over these many threads, while none of them stand out though, I have come to like Jackman more, henceforth receiving my vote.

He is the only one that stands out above the others for me, and that isn't saying a real lot as I think he is a fair choice.

Owen seems like a more older, sophiscated Bond.

But Jackman seems to be my choice. He looks more rugged, tougher.

Easily won by Wolverine.

That maybe one of his downfalls....Jackman in many peoples eyes are Wolverine and they may have typecasted him to that role.

That maybe one of his downfalls....

I doubt it. If anything, Bond would present a chance of pace for Jackman. Bond looks nothing like Wolverine or Van Helsing. Moviegoers have yet to see a clean-cut Jackman. Unless you've been to one of his shows ofcourse. Then you're familiar with the following look: http://debrief.comma...=post&id=261545

I have a feeling people will have more trouble believing Clive Owen or Christian Bale since they are famous for characters who are far more like Bond appearancewise; The Driver & Bruce Wayne/Patrick Bateman. Since The Driver isn't as well known, I doubt it will present a major stumbling block though.

I think Owen will do a great job as Bond. He will definitely be different, that is for sure. Since Owen will be involved, will his frequent co-star Ben Stiller have a part? And what about Will Ferrell? Maybe he can channel James Lipton and give us a new variation on Q?

Jackman hands down. Got the presence of a young Connery. Physically right for the role, young enough and has his name out there in previous movies. Swordfish, Kate and Leopold, X-men etc. Owen's really done nothing, you could watch the bourne identity and not know it was him. Same as with the BMW driver series, their only available online. He's got limited apeal to a few people.

Jackman people know, he's a recognisable face. People may say this is bad, but no one cared when Connery took back over in DAF when he was the highest paid actor in the world.

Jackman gives them more freedom to explore in the next film, it would lessen the chance of a bomb if it doesn't have the crappy over blown elements of DAD. Instead their would be lest considerable risk having him in a cut down character piece. More realistic in scope. TLD or even much like the bourne identity or the upcoming supremacy.

So Jackman, he allows for much more adaptabillity. Plus he's better suited.

Clive Owen, I feel, would give us a better portrayal of IAN FLEMING'S James Bond - he has this tough, rough, thuggish quality to him that would be great for 007, and that I feel has been missing. However, MGM/Eon would probably not like this because he's a character that would only really cater to 'the fans', in their eyes, and not bring them in a huge paycheck when the film comes out.

I hate MGM.

I'm not sure if anyone has brought up this point yet in this thread, since I have just skimmed over the posts, but didn't Owen say sometime ago that he felt Bond was beneath him? I don't have a link or any written proof of him saying this, but I swear I read it somewhere on these boards.

Anyways, as for who would be the better Bond, I would have to pick Jackman, although Owen would be my second choice, as I have grown to accept him as being a possible Bond. But that saying, I just can't see anyone except for Jackman to take over the role. He just seems to have the perfect fit.

Also, it was mentioned before that with Owen we would have the more Dalton/Fleming "Bond", and we might have a more character driven role with him as Bond, who is to say that Jackman can't do the same? Also, there is the fact that the series needs to survive and I would think Jackman would get more people into the theaters than Owen would. So just like CommanderBond and many other people have mentioned, Jackman would be the smarter choice.

Clive Owen.

I'm not interested in this "Fleming's Bond" or "Dalton's Bond" or "Brosnan's Bond" stuff, I just think that Owen would make a better "James Bond" than Jackman. Owen just have more of an edge than Jackman. He's less likely to give a portrayal that's "a bit of this and a bit of that". Might actually (now hold on to your hats here) bring something new to the role.

i think they are both great candidates (have both xmen dvds as well as the hire films dvd) i just think hugh jackman would be cooler as bond although owen is more of the fleming bond

if they are doing a casino royale (serious one) then maybe owen, but i would have to say jackman

Rationally it would be Jackman for me. Sound business decision, seemingly versatile, generally safe choice, etc.

But Owen intrigues me.

Just to add to the discussion, has anyone from Oz seen Paperback Hero and/or Erskineville Kings? What are your thoughts these films by Hugh? Just curious.
