I disagree. MOONRAKER was Moore's last really good outing, IMO. He was boring in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, and while a little bit of the old charm did return in OCTOPUSSY it was clear that he was way over the hill by the time of the Battle of the Bonds. At that point in time (1983) the real Bond coudlnt contend with the current guy (Moore).

Never Say Never Again Gunbarrel-like sequence

He was in 1983. If Rog had been in his SPY WHO LOVED ME prime, I might have backed him in a clash of the titans with Sean. At the time of the OCTOPUSSY/NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN battle, though, the Eon series was at its all-time low and Rog's "pantomime" James Bond was an absolute joke.Connery isn't the only Proper James Bond.

I can only think of one particular poster who thinks this. I agree it's a pity to look at it that way.Such a pity that so many people refuse to watch/enjoy this wonderful Bond film, purely on the grounds that its profits did not flow into the bank accounts of the Broccoli family and Eon.
That aside, I am not a big fan of NSNA simply because I just don't think anything, aside from Connery

I just can't agree. I think Roger's James Bond in 1983 and Octopussy was great. Not a problem on my part for his performance.
No problem with Connery though, he did the role well in Never Say Never Again.

I like the song!Sorry to geek out here, but I really do feel that NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN has just about the coolest opening of any Bond film - in fact, of any film. The grid of 007s making way for the aerial shot of jungle and islands, Connery running through the undergrowth, punching out the guard (not sure about that strange frisbee thing of his, though). I even love (for some reason) the fact that the opening credits are in red. And before anyone says "Shame about that rotten title song", allow me to state that I like it. Great opening. Great movie. (Wow, I've just noticed a new Smilie.)

Those grids are just guady. The song, bad slightly, but it is something you learn to accept IMO.I like the song!Sorry to geek out here, but I really do feel that NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN has just about the coolest opening of any Bond film - in fact, of any film. but nothing tops the gun barrel. That's always the best part of any Bond movie!

It was better than any of the Brosnan era songs, by an ocean.
