I was dragged kicking and screaming to a Mariah Carey concert once. Horrible.

But... my first REAL concert will be this year! I'm so excited! I convinced ZenCat to get us some tickets to the upcoming RUSH 30th Anniversary Tour! RUSH.com ...we'll be going in July! :)

The other bands I would like to see in concert are... A-Ha (have to go to norway for that), Coldplay, & Matchbox 20.

I currently trying to win Duran Duran UK concert tickets... come on radio station, pick me pick me... *sigh* who am I kidding.

I've been to literally a gazillion concerts. The last major one was Local H with Electric Six and Suffrajett on New Year's Eve.

Fun fact: my first concert was Matthew Sweet on May 10th, 1994, so I'm coming up on my tenth anniversary of going to shows.

Hey, cool, Rush is touring. I'll finally get to see them (I hope- I'm broke right now, but I'd love to get tickets).

Ever hear Coheed and Cambria, Athena? They're like the Rush of today, IMO...

Yeah the first 2 shows were incredible but the third was a letdown...but I saw them July 2002 and they were fantastic! So, Maybe they weren't set up properly the third time...They just sounded awful(compared to perfection that was the first 2 shows I saw)...anyway, Niel Pert, Alex Leifson and Geddy Lee are all still amazing...they haven't lost anything. I still haven't bought that 'Rush in Rio' DVD...been meaning to but i've been enjoying my new Zepplin and Stevie Ray Vaughn DVds...next payday I will get it for sure! :)

Didn't expect so many Rush fans around here. Whilst I'm not a huge fan of them myself, my friend (and forum member) Lotus Esprit is a very active fan and does a lot of trading. It's always fun to visit him. I always come up with my new Bond stuff and he always has a bunch of new Rush (or Iron Maiden) Concerts and DVDs.

Going to see Brian Wilson on Wednesday, he'll finally play the lost "Smile" album.

Was never a Rush fan, but I'm a fan of their album art.

I only ever went to 2 concerts (both held in the same open-air stadium in Sydney).
  • During the ABBA tour in 1977 (yes, I'm a fan). You can actually see me in "ABBA: The Movie" waving a lime green light stick along with 3 other friends near the front of the stage.
  • During the Police tour of 1976? (I think)
Both were really great concerts, but for some reason I've never being to another one since.

So I'm not just doing this to try and keep pace with my young girllfriend.  I really like RUSH and always have.

Actually, I was amazed at 22, in this day and age she would be into Rush...They took about 5-6 years off and did solo stuff so they haven't really been on the scene attracting new fans like Santana, for example.

Tarl- I'm 26 and just...when you hear Rush on a classic rock station, they still sound unique and fresh. ESPECIALLY something like The Temples of Syrinx. And as I said earlier, there's still bands that're influenced by them (as much as they protest the comparison, Coheed and Cambria's four album rock opera really is just a modern version of 2112 on steroids, and Co&Ca's lead singer Claudio sounds a LOT like Geddy Lee). True originals with unique voices- like Peart, Lee, and Fleming- will always attract new fans, no matter how long they've been around or how long they've been out of the limelight (no pun intended!).

Let's just say that back in 2001 when I was 19 I was dating a 31 year old bass player who only would listen to RUSH. That's the first time I'd ever heard of them, I don't know if I would have heard of them otherwise. Something good came out of that relationship :)

Oh, no. Does this mean when we're at the concert all the songs are going to bring back memories of the 31-year-old bass player...that young punk! :) :)

Well, Janez Detd., .calibre, deviate and Zornik are Belgian bands, so I don't blame you for those.
Others are metal bands, so if you don't listen to that you won't know it either.
However, you should know The Offspring, or at least know songs (without knowing they're singing it).

hey dude, I saw Ozomatli in Mission beach during the Superbowl week. Is that where you saw them too? That was awesome. I regret showing up late to Santana at the Hollywood bowl in October 2002 and missing Ozomatli...I'd never heard of them but I had such cheap seats it wouldn't have been that cool. The Mission beach concert was free and I was 20 feet away...Great band! :)
