I am not quite sure if this counts, but I saw Billy Joel when he was doing his "spoken word" tour back in the late nineties.

3. The Allman Brothers Band - 2003
4. Red Hot Chili Peppers - 2003
5. Neil Young and Crazy Horse - March 11, 2004

Good list, Righty. I'm still missing the Allmann Brothers on mine, but they haven't been to Europe for ages. Skynyrd opened for Deep Purple this year, but unfortunately, I had to work that night. Going to see Neil Young? Very good. That's going to be the... let me see... Cleveland Show, with Crazy Horse. Seen him three times with three different Bands: with Boker T. & The MGs, with Pearl Jam and with Crazy Horse. Refused to see him last year, as the tickets were at 125 Euros :) . Even Paul McCartney was only 70 Euros! This note's for you, Neil!! Ticket prizes skyrocketed since we have the Euro. The doubled within two years, and that's a reason why I don't go to concerts as often as I used to.

Last year, I went to see Paul McCartney, Harry Belafonte, Chuck Berry, Calexico, Bob Dylan (2 nights in a row in Hamburg). Almost only old men, some of them could as well be my grandfather. And my previous years lists don't look any better.
Amongst those I've already seen (can't tell them all out of my head) are The Grateful Dead, Lou Reed, Santana (3 times in the late 80s/early 90s), Rory Gallagher (one of his last concerts), Brian Wilson (on his Pet Sounds Tour, and I've got tickets for his Smile Project tour this spring.), B.B. King, The Rolling Stones (2 times), J.J. Cale, Peter Gabriel, Lenny Kravitz, The Black Crowes, Bo Diddley, Dave Brubeck, Van Morrison, Cypress Hill, Iron Maiden. These are only a few, I used to go to many concerts some 5-10 years ago. Missing on this list are some that I've seen on Festivals but didn't really care for (Bryan Adams comes to my mind). My brother's a huge Bob Dylan fan and goes to every Dylan concert he can. I sometimes go with him, and that sums up as a total of about 30 to 35 times I've seen that man play in the last 15 years, between Kopenhagen and Cannes, Paris and Prague.

Waiting to see The Allmans, The Who, Springsteen, maybe Led Zep. Still missing a few that I wont be able to see any more (for natural reasons), like Johnny Cash or Frank Zappa :) . But one can't have everything. And I'm glad with what I've seen so far.

stromberg, I was very disappointed with the Allman Brothers Band concert because they only played one old hit along with all these bad new songs.

stromberg, I was very disappointed with the Allman Brothers Band concert because they only played one old hit along with all these bad new songs.

Haven't listened to their latest albums, the last one I got was "Where it all begins" from '94. Well, they have to promote their new album...

But I would prefer the old songs as well. If only Dickey Betts was still with them... When they come to Europe, such Bands usually have a more "Greatest Hits" oriented set list. They play more crowd pleasers (because they aren't as big in Europe as they used to be) in order to get good reviews and thus sell more tickets.

Shouldn't happen with Neil Young, he usually has a good mixture. On last years show (the one I didn't see), he performed solo, acoustic, for three hours. One half was old hits, the other was his (then unreleased) new album. Great shows (I've heard some records of those). When he plays with Crazy horse, he really does it "like a hurricane". Be sure that you'll be getting blown away :) .

Dylan is something different. He plays the old songs as well as the new ones (which are quite good). But you'll have problems recognizing some of them as he always has new versions and different arrangments. It's still good fun watching him, but he temporarily gave up playing guitar due to his aching back, and his piano skills aren't that much developped... But his band is really great and they rock the house.

It was 20 years ago this month (or was it next) I went to my first concert -- the Kinks. That same year I saw The Clash and Billy Idol.

The next year I saw Dio, Dokken, Sammy Haggar, Ratt, Bon Jovi, AC/DC. I was big into heavy metal at the time, but I also saw Bryan Adams too. My girlfriend at the time got the tickets to that one.

I've also seen Judas Priest, Pat Benatar, Night Ranger, The Outfield, INXS, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Jan and Dean. And I've seen Bob Dylan four times.

I'd like to see one of the Beatles sometime, preferably Ringo, but I'd see McCartney if the price was right. I'd like to see the Stones again too. They put on a great show.

Interestingly enough, No, haven't heard it yet. I haven't bought many records recently, currently throwing all my money out of the window for Bond stuff... I only know the songs from the record my brother made in Frankfurt (front row with top-notch taping equipment). But I agree. It's awesome.

Turn, I'd have prefered seeing Ringo as well (he's my favourite Beatle for 25 years). But that wouldn't be the real Beatle-thing. It would be Ringo and his Allstar band (Okay, Paul hasn't got any other Beatle with him, but he co-wrote and sang most of the songs). And of course, I wanted to hear Paul play the LALD theme, which he did, and it was a highlight of the show.
