I think the recent posters of the Bronsan Era- namely TND to DAD are lacking. While I like TND's red motif and multiple monitor depictions of the action, I really feel that there hasn't been to much in the way of imagination when it comes the modern Bond poster. GE stands out because they successfully blend the various photos into something that actually looks like the posters of old.
this may put me into the "old

He did the main poster for TSWLM and for my money created some of the best movie posters of the 70's and 80's. ROLLERBALL, APOCALYPSE NOW, ST II: THE WRATH OF KAHN and ST: THE MOTION PICTURE stand out.
The folks in the creative dept at MGM really need to get back to this style of artwork or get someone with some really artistic Photoshop skills

I liked the A View to a Kill poster that featured Grace Jones and Roger Moore in the foreground and then a poster of Bond and Stacey on the Golden Gate Bridge as an inset.

Again, another clever use of ARTWORK to promote a film.
I'm not against the use of photography for movie posters. In fact two of my favorites are:
THE LIMEY

BAD COMPANY

When something's striking it really works. Because the Bond films have often used multiple images to entice the passerby, the creative folks at MGM should really try to stylize the movie's artwork.

Indeed, really quite boring considering the past posters.

Best? That's a hard one. There have been so many great Bond posters: FRWL, TB, YOLT, LALD, TSWLM, MR, FYEO, OP, AVTAK...hard to say which poster is "best." Each was right for it's time.
I guess I'm in the minority in that I sort of like the US DAD poster.

Easily the weakest Bond poster was the US LTK (I wasn't too crazy about the UK one either).

this may put me into the "old" category but give me the painted gems of Bob Peak

Although I agree with most of your post, I was never really that impressed with the Bob Peak posters. I talked (and debated) about it at length in another thread on the posters of The Spy Who Loved Me in the Roger Moore forum.

Are you sure you're not remembering the teaser poster Righty? That's the closeup of Daltion holding a gold (?) PPK with his tux tie undone. I do like that one.Originally posted by Righty007

Easier to pick out the worst than the best...LTK(US or UK), DAD, TND, & GE. I'm sick of these photoshoped posters and long for the old days of the painted masterpieces. I would love to see Drew Struzan do a Bond poster!
.......and if indeed there is a new direction in the offing, maybe the time would be right to showcase this in poster styles too. One can but hope.
