I agree with Crashdrive. The guy definitely looks Bondish, at least in the pics he doesn't have that goofy smile.

Look at the pic he just posted. That doesn't look Bondish to you?

I do agree you with you though Agent 76, that he would make a great villian. Like a Guy Thackery or Roland Marquis.

Wow, can it be that my dark horse choice for the last two years will actually end up playing Bond? If you believe the latest reports, he seems to be EON's choice. If you go to the first couple of messages of this thread you'll discover what everybody's initial reaction was to him. He was a complete unknown. He has always been one of my top choices and I've seen him slowly making a career for himself throughout the years starting with 'The Wire' to important supporting roles in 'The Forgotten' & 'Mona Lisa Smile'. He definately has my support and I have confidence he can make the part his own. It seems though that Sony's choice is none other than fan favorite & Academy Award nominee Clive Owen. Well, Owen has never been one of my top choices, but he's listed as the most likely Bond candidate in my thread (see my signature for the link). May the best Bond win.

Whilst searching through old newspaper I came across a bit article about Dominic West in the sun newspaper about James Bond (3rd Feb 2005) and article that a source sayyed he would be named as James Bond in within two weeks instead of Dougray Scott in the Daily Star on the 5th Feb 2005 issue. It was the same as the article in scotland on sunday newspaper

Well in a few days it will be two weeks.

Doesn't seem too likely at the moment I'd say, based on what those papers said.

In the same issues of the Daily Star saying that Dominic West was going to be James Bond, it said two pages later that Clive Owen was tipped to become Bond.

Dominic West does have a lot of great qualities that fit the role of OO7 except one, his looks. He is rather harsh looking and doesn't have the look that one would think women would be attracted to. He's certainly an interesting candidate but I would be surprsied if he were offered the role. There are far better choices available.

I never liked Dominic West (for Bond) and I still don't.
I prefer Ioan Gruffud over him

A agree, Ioan Gruffudd would be a better choice than West but he looks a bit to young. Down the road I bet he'll mature into the Bond look so maybe they should grab him now before his star rises to much. I still think Gerard Butler is the man for the job though, he would be a perfect fit.

Well it depends; if casino royale features a younger Bond that's new to the 00 section etc. than I think Gruffud could work. Otherwise I agree he is to young looking

Ioan Gruffudd? He's the actor who plays Hornblower in that series right?

If that's the case then, I really can't see him as Bond.

Gruffudd is rather youthful looking but I can see him maturing into the Bond look over the years. A couple of things make me wonder if he is really the next guy. One, Timothy Dalton (personal friend of the Producers) came out in full support of Gruffudd stating he would easily mature into the role. Secondly, Gruffudd himself is friends with the producers and has met them socially on numerous occasions. He has a reputation of being very charming and a total pleasure to work with which would certainly appeal to the producers.

Good-o.

I've only seen him in Hornblower so I have no newer reference to judge him on, and from that photo he hasn't changed all that much.

I very much doubt West will be get the role, as you also say Forever007. Hugh Jackman, Jude Law, and Clive Owen seem like far more favorable choices in my eyes.
