I'd say another month before they find their way on to ebay etc. And then wait until the initial flurry of excitement dies down to miss the high prices of auctioning fever.
I am sure both versions will find their way on to the market. Coming Soon and dated versions.
So this is an official, i.e. real, poster? This is something they've put out?
As there is already a vinyl reporoduction something or other for sale on ebay, collectors should probably wait until double sided posters are made available.
Good point, I was going to check eBay and order one, but I was also thinking it was too soon to order, probably a few months closer to the release date wouldn't you say?

True. That sums it up nicely. It's certainly better than QOS teaser poster, but inferior to the greatness of CR teaser poster (which is even better than the theatrical one).

I beg to differ. QoS teaser poster (Bond's shadow on a dusty land) was breathtaking.True. That sums it up nicely.

I couldn't agree more. The QOS teaser poster was awesome and a perfect follow up to Casino Royale. In fact, everything about QOS was awesome until the movie, I'd have to say. And the movie was a misfire, but it wasn't that bad, all things considered. It was kind of like a bunch of cool deleted scenes from Casino Royale, that you'd watch and say, that was great but I see why they left it out of the movie.

Ah, well. I would have to disagree with you on this. I actually highly enjoyed QoS. I can understand why many don't like it (and I don't want to re-open a case that has been heard so many times before!), but I personnaly think it's very stylish, very original (some shots were never used before, or the use of the Opera music covering the actual noise of the fight, etc.) and overall very well made.

Back to the topic at hand: the more I see it, the less I like the SF teaser poster. And that's starting with an already low level of appreciation in the first place...
Funny thing is, having seen the trailer, I think the poster and the trailer don't match. As if they were from 2 different movies.
Whereas for CR or QoS, for instance, the mood you got from the teaser poster was reflected in the teaser trailer.

I was refering to Bond movies. It is very original for a Bond movie. And as far as I can gather, it has clearly upset some Bond fans because of a so-called "treason" on the Bond formula due to those never-seen-before-in-a-Bond-movie shots...very original (some shots were never used before, or the use of the Opera music covering the actual noise of the fight, etc.)

I wish they would use a painted poster again.
Oh, yeah, those were the days...
But painted posters are probably gone forever.

Am sure the technology can manipulate something to look oily. Unless it is of Charles Laughton, in which case, job done.

They can do that, yeah. I knocked this up in a short time; people with more time on their hands can do much better, although I reckon you may as well paint it if you have more time to spend.
But the thing is, I'd like a really well-shot photographic poster. Like the Casino teaser only perhaps less treated, more magazine photography-style.
And if people reckon classic Bond posters were always painted... you may want to check out a little movie called Goldfinger.

Anyways, on topic, I think the poster is perfect. Perhaps not as inspired as the Casino Royale teaser which just oozed class, but it works for what it needs to do. It captures Craig's Bond, let's people know there's a new Bond movie coming, and also pays homage to the 50th Anniversary by using one of the most iconic images in the entire franchise. I can't complain.
I'm hoping for even more good things on the theatrical poster. I never cared for Casino Royale's final poster or Quantum's for that matter.

The UK montage one was a bit too standard, although I didn't hate the US artwork one which was a shot of him walking from the casino with Vesper on the steps.
Funny how the US usually gets horrible book covers but better movie posters.

FYEO - UK
AVTAK - US
TLD - UK
LTK - UK
TND - US
TWINE - UK
DAD - UK
CR - US
Not much in it for me, but the UK just pips it.

I'm not sure which is the US Daylights one, though? Although it's beautifully painted I never really liked the gunbarrel action montage one: the simpler blue one with Kara facing Bond is much better.

Curiously, this poster, with elements flipped correctly, did exist as a shot on a folder promoting the MGM line up where both TWINE and Stigmata were included. In this mode, it worked a treat.
Stunted arms detracted on DAD and so, good will and intentions aside, it just didn't work - as a completed whole.
I take your points ref the US TLD poster - there weren't any basic design flaws on that and as a simpler design, it does work beautifully.
Teaser posters next?
