Only example I know at the moment is Drew Struzan but he retired
But from the "look" of the last two Craig films I think the producers will stick with the photo format- at least thru Craig's completion of his contract since this IS in a way the reboot of the franchise (They could really make a small fortune once Craig's contract of 4 films is completed because the Blu-Ray package with this grittier/ harder reality based Bond would be a sweet boxed set to own)
And since you know about the history of when the posters arrive, do you have an idea of when we might see the teaser trailer for Skyfall?
They've been shooting since November and I should think they should have enough material for a good minute trailer. (I also wonder if these days that studios try to get the director to schedule certain scenes early in the shoot so that the film can be processed and added to a trailer in time FOR that trailer to be released even while they continue to film the movie)

I believe the teaser poster for Quantum of Solace premiered in February of '08 (please correct me if I'm wrong). It'd be interesting to see if a teaser for SkyFall will come out some time in February. What do you think the poster should look like?
It was actually January of 2008. I imagine the poster to come anywhere from February - April. May's pushing it. The teaser trailer will most likely premiere with either Men In Black 3 in May, Amazing Spider-Man in July, or Total Recall in August. It might even premiere with The Dark Knight Rises who knows?
I see the poster having a nice classic vibe from the other films to this poster. It is the 50th Anniversary!

I think it would be a mistake to assume that just because the teaser poster was released for one film in February, then the teaser poster for the next film will be released in February. "It happened this way once, so it will always happen that way" is a logical fallacy.I believe the teaser poster for Quantum of Solace premiered in February of '08 (please correct me if I'm wrong). Agreed but zero harm in speculating. Posters seem to amount to a hill of beans these days in cinema. They seem to be only effective when they're for mega-sequels. Doesn't mean that can't be gorgeous. I particularly like the poster for 'Haywire'. Also the poster for 'Shame' is simple yet effective. Olly Moss does some cool posters. Be cool to see him have a crack at 'Skyfall'

Look at what has been done for SKYFALL so far: every Friday, a new clapperbaord image is released. They don't show much, but what they do show fuels a bit of speculation as to what is going on. But, for the past two or three weeks, that speculation has started to die down. People are starting to get sick and tired of the same old cyrptic images to the point where they are openly saying it. So perhaps that marketing tool has been over-used (though an image that gives something a little bit more solid will probably go a long way towards satifying people).
So in that respect, the timing of the teaser poster's release is crucial. If EON release it too soon, then people will eventually forget about it before the teaser trailer is released. At the same time, if they leave it too late, then people will start to get restless (as they are now with the clapperboards). That means the ideal time to release the poster depends on when the teaser trailer is released.
Since SKYFALL is a big film, Sony will no doubt want to attach it to a big release in order to generate as much interest as possible. And looking at their release schedule for 2012, GHOST RIDER 2 might be the earliest we get it, but I suspect Sony will want the theatrical trailer to go with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN in July, so February is probably a little early for a teaser. So I'd say that the teaser trailer will go with MEN IN BLACK 3 in May, and the teaser poster will come out some time in mid-March.

Really just trying to get a topic started. I am fully aware of how and when posters get released, but yes you are correct that not all posters come out at the same time for sequels. Not sure why attacks have to come like this. More than anything I was interested in what people were looking for in a new poster.
I'm not sure either.
"Captain Tightpants" - please rein in your habit of swooping down to rebut or "correct" speculative thoughts posted by anonymous usernames about the ongoing production of a series of fleeting light entertainments, in which none of us bear any risk, that ultimately amount to "some films". It's become wearisome. Such purposeless aggression.

Like I said, I feel its anywhere from February to April. I feel the trailer will be attached to Men In Black 3. It could be with Amazing Spider-Man, Dark Knight Rises, or Total Recall (All Sony films minus TDKR which is Warner Bros.)
Casino Royale's poster was released during January - April timeframe i believe with the trailer attached to Mission Impossible 3 in May 2006.
Quantum Of Solace's poster was out in January 2008 with the trailer attached to Hancock in July.

Well you can, by taking a moment to think about how it may come across and with some responsibility for what you write. It looks like purposeless aggression. Whether or not it is, that's what it looks like. Your name looks like Captain Tightpants. Whether or not it is, that's what it looks like.

Good. I'm glad to see you remember your own name. Perhaps you can also recognise why I find it difficult to take you seriously when I see you post and therefore automatically assume that there is an astringent undercurrent of sarcasm in your posts. I mean, you're supposed to be a moderator, but I think you've failed in that respect when people simply disregard everything you say and the thought of wading through your cynicism to get to your actual point is wearying.
Time then to start succeeding as a moderator (whatever the hell that means). Cheery 'bye.
You did rather walk into that one, didn't you? Ah well.

Yes, that would be me. Hi.
So maybe work on that. Its nothing to be proud of. Its as irritating and annoying as whatever you might throw at Tightpants. But unfortunately, you don't care...

Jim does a fantastic job - and his sense of irony is severely needed on this or any message board about nerdy stuff like James Bond.
And, really, Captain, as much as I admire your enthusiasm you take things way too seriously (your post in which you talked about getting someone on another board to admit something really nailed this impression for me).
So, please, Captain, take a breather, get some not so tight fitting pants maybe and think about this: we´re all fans here, we all have different opinions, and while we may disagree often, it just doesn´t matter. Enjoy the board. Or open up one for yourself.
And Jim, please keep going.

Personally I'd like to see more of the fashion photography style they used for Casino Royale: that had some lovely photos. In fact Dragon Tattoo actually went a similar way with its very cool early poster: I'd be keen to see something like that.

So you're basically accusing Jim of being at fault. Classy fella, you.

The rabble-rouser in me would quite like it to be of Judi Dench, just to observe the ire it would create.I reckon it'll be a photo of Daniel Craig! It sounds obvious to say, but he is the biggest selling point of the Bond films at the mo.
But yes, almost certain to be purely a Craig image, I'd say.

'Quantum of Solace' was ok...it was a tease after all but a bit bland. 'Casino Royale' showed us Bond, showed us menace, showed us class and showed a nice, as you say, tone of the film.
Let's hope 'Skyfall' will feature Bond at least similar to that.

So, there may be some basis for what could happen this time but it will be dependent on how many posters they have to slot into the time period, supposing equidistant timing between releases.
So, no answer at all then.

It was a very nice teaser poster, but I don't agree that it captured the tone of the actual movie. But I wish it did...I loved the CR teaser with Bond at the casino table. It showed the general tone of the movie.
QOS had a simple (but very effective) teaser, but all the posters that came after that were just rubbish. Same with TWINE and DAD (well, the poster campaign for TWINE was maybe ok after all).
From MGM’s point of view, there is probably no need to build up some expectations early on since a Bondfilm has a very loyal audience. It will practically market itself.

I thought the Quantum teaser was pretty dull: just a shadow on the ground? Quite boring stuff.
Agreed.
The QoS teaser poster was even more disappointing as it was following one of the best posters the series has had with the CR teaser poster.
I can't say that I really care too much about the teaser poster, though. I'd rather see them actually put some effort into the main poster and actually have that look decent for a change.
