and you too mattofsteel and personally i don't want to talk metaphors either but i hate this idea that they are gambling on the success of the franchise
i've always thought CR was overrated so i'm always trying to knock it back down a level.
i hate the concept of who's the best bond and what is the best film because it is always going to be whomever is the current bond.
they are always going to try and make a better film then the last one and they slowly learn from their mistakes.
if they released a bond film or 2 that were the worst films of all time i still don't believe they would fold the franchise.
they would just take another break from it even the worst bond film still made its money back right?
50 years later they realize that a bond film is half a billion dollars net worth all they care about it making their money and way more of it (greedy b!@$#)
i get the impression that the producers feel almost as though they wrote the ian fleming novels themselves but really they just profit from them.

Lots of discussion in the Images spoilers thread. Consensus largely seems to be it will be a new photo, probably from on-set, and it won't be a teaser poster.
I just read that the first official photo is coming out tomorrow at 8am and is going to be in USA Today. Wasn't the first photo the one of Craig in the trunks at the pool? Hopefully a teaser poster is out tomorrow as well.
I don't think so. "First official image from SKYFALL will be revealed exclusively on 007.com" They've never made a big deal over a picture like this before, even to put to "exclusively on 007.com" . I highly doubt a US Today will just put some random set photos and slap it on their cover. I do agree that it won't be a poster, only because they're not saying "poster". But I believe it will be a posed shot

I was really hoping for a teaser poster, but you are most likely right mate.
I feel a bit like a tool writing that and then seeing it discussed in the Skyfall images thread, so my mistake haha.

This poster has special significance for me. A version was printed in the Chicago Sun-Times when "Dr. No" was released, and, as a young teen, I'd never seen anything so cool in my life. From the day I saw this poster, I've been an avid fan of James Bond. Fifty years and counting!I really hope they go for a cool throwback stylisation. Maybe even give it the old Dr No sketched look as a cool nod back to the first, as it's the big half century. It could certainly be done well with a modern zest. It would also stand out from the usual contemporary movie posters you get that all look like the same company bashed them together. Granted the Craig film posters have been pretty cool, Casino Royale's in particular.
I do love this poster:

Quantum of Solace teaser was out a few days after the press conference. Casino Royales was out in May, I think. A few weeks before the Trailer.
Thanks!!
I wonder when it will show up. Hopefully it's a good one this time.
Aside from the Quantum one, I think they have done a good job with the Bond teaser posters. Die Another Day's was not that great either.

Given that we're a good ways past the time when they released the Quantum of Solace teaser poster, I wouldn't be surprised if they waited until at least the beginning of the summer movie season sometime in May to release a teaser poster. Having one on the walls alongside posters for other films that are coming soon at the time of year when more people are going to the cinema wouldn't be a bad idea.
Agreed. Very good point.

It will absolutely be out by then. They seem to be following CR's promo schedule moreso than QOS. Teaser trailer will either be with MIB3 in May or Spider-Man in July. Poster, I wouldn't doubt, will be out by the end of April/early May. Full theatrical trailer to follow in early September.

Not sure about that. The smoking gun on ice was infinitely more cool than the theatrical poster.

Wow. That's kind of hard to say. Yeah, both were pretty disappointing posters!

I'm hoping that the teaser poster will be as good as the 50th Anniversary poster and much better then the QOS one.
Hopefully it'll be much better than both. Both the 50th Anniversary poster and, especially, the QOS teaser poster are pretty subpar posters. Then again, all of the Bond posters the past couple of decades, save for the CR teaser poster, have been pretty bad.

I dunno; the best of Bond is classy rather than cheesy, I tend to think. Look at the Goldfinger poster.

Look at the Dr No poster above, and the likes of Moonraker, and The Living Daylights, I love those posters, very
exciting.
Don't get me wrong, the modern ones are nice, but look a bit dull when it comes to DVD releases.

Daniel looking very... neckless.
It makes up for how much shorter Craig is compared to Connery.

Trying to match his head up to the way Connery was posed in that poster was hard.
