The problem for me is that those who are involved in the spoilers thread can't get involved in any threads where posters are speculating about a topic. Say Fiennes is playing Blofeld and half of the people on here know, how tempting would it be for one of them to add their thoughts to the thread "What do you think Ralph Fiennes' role is in Skyfall?"
--------
Well that's not so bad, as what would be the point of giving into that temptation other than some sadistic delight in spoiling it for others or trying to show off how much one knows? If someone in the know decides to post in that thread and says "Yes, Fiennes is Blofeld - it's posted in the spoiler section" or something to that effect, it's going to kill the thread anyway, or at least the speculative aspect. In that case, either they deliberately wanted to put an end to the speculation by spoiling things, or they were an idiot for not realising their actions.
There's probably not too much point in speculative threads anyway once the movie is fully under way and there is a spoiler section. If people are speculating on whether Blofeld is in the movie or Harris is Moneypenny and it is already definitively announced, then it's like wondering who is going to win a match and betting on it when the result has already been decided well before. It's all a little futile. If you put the speculative thread in the spoiler section, then that defeats the purpose of it, because there's nothing to speculate about, but if you put it in the non-spoiler section, it may have already been decided and it's a wasted exercise. If someone really wants to know (and I know that sometimes in speculative threads, people try to present all kinds of evidence to prove their point if there's a debate over something) they could just look it up and have things confirmed.

My thoughts too. I mean, we have a new Bond being made, so of course it's highly tempting to go see all the threads and read more about it; after all, we've been waiting for this for so long. But, nevertheless, I'll try to visit only the spoiler-free topics (if there is any!). We can still discuss things like... er, I don't know, actuallyIt's good to know that I'm not alone. Messervy, WC, if you guys are feeling the urge to take a peak at a few tidbits just drop a line here about your frustrations. I know I will be.
I'll start: Hi my name is Chief. I've now been avoiding spoilers for two days. I love seeing this board so active! So many posts for a Saturday! Too bad I'm avoiding mostly all of them.I find it tempting to talk to fellow Bond lovers.

What helped immensely for Quantum was Mister Asterix had a spoiler free skin for the boards that effectively hid all of the spoilers from tempting eyes. Maybe that could be turned on again for us.

I added a pinned disclaimer to the spoiler forums, asking people to avoid spoilers in thread titles, that's all I can do.
I think it's mostly down to the person creating the thread. Not the greatest system in the world, but I don't think anyone here would knowingly give details away like that.
Perhaps no-one at the moment but, whilst I expect it's noce for the owners of the site to get new members and it's likely the site will, some of them could be real frickin' idiots.
Technically, it should be possible to keep the spoiler topics off the 'today's pots' list, but I believe you can only have them in or out for everyone. Don't know if or how it can be done as an individual choice, but it would certainly require more knowledge than I have.
As to the assumption that some of the new members that are brought in by Skyfall could be frickin' idiots - with an experience of almost ten years on this site, I'd say "That's putting it mildly."

I'm in! But man, is it going to be a long year?!!
You're telling me, brother. Hopefully this topic can be some sort of speculation thread or other SkyFall thread. I think it could be a good place to talk about 50th anniversary stuff too.

overall I managed to avoid mostly everything unless there were headlines on other movie sites and a couple of seconds from tv spots. it made seeing the film very exciting as i had no idea what to expect. i may try to do it again this year but not to the same extreme degree.
good luck to all others to are trying to be anti-spoiler, just know that it can be done.

I have noticed on the main forum page a subforum for Skyfall spoilers - what is that?
A place on the forums to talk about spoilers (while being sure not to make the spoilers part of the subject line). Kind of the opposite of this section of the forum. There are no actual spoilers there now. Just kind of people getting organized (as is the case here with the anti-spoiler folks) as news unfolds over the next year.
EDIT: oops, I responded before Stromberg explained it in better detail.

Even when I read the leaked outline of the first act of Casino Royale, I simply told myself "what does this source know? It doesn't sound very likely anyway." That way, when those very events unfolded on the screen it was still a surprise for me, especially since they played out more logically than it sounded like they would on paper.
Moreover, I always go to the film on opening night. That way I don't have to hear any spoilers from anyone else. I couldn't go to CR or QoS first night (killer for someone as OC as I), so I avoided anyone who may have done.
Problem solved.

I am joining this noble crusade so that I may also join our favorite spy's upcoming outing to the fullest extent. Looking forward to safe discussions and the sharing of ideas. I like the idea of 50th anniversary celebration speculations.

In the 50th year I'm sure we can easily expect at least a QoS special edition DVD among possible rereleases. Alternate ending anyone?

Excellent Wint and Munn!

That would be a great release this year. Are there any updates on a possible release of the remaining films on Blu-ray this year?

It means it is possible for us spoiler-avoiders to accidentally see something like "Bardem's character killed by sha..."
