Perhaps just in time to be released on UNCLE's 50th anniversary just like SKYFALL did for 007.
Weird that Napoleon Solo is back in the news at the same time a Bond novel comes out called "Solo".

I read in Coming Soon Web that the The movie will start filming in September. I hope it goes ahead. Now What about the guns will they use Walther pistols. I hope so. Remember TV series use P38K. I hope new Pistols like the PPX PPQ or P99.

Doubtful they will use new pistols as all reports indicate it will be set in the 1960s Cold War era. Thank God for that!

They are in pre-production now and will start principal photography in Sept. Because the movie will want to have it's own design sensibility, just like the recent Star Trek movies, it's possible that we will be seeing something new regarding the guns.

Addendum:
Hollywood Reporter has eliminated their reference to the "hydrogen bomb" plot so take that information with a grain of salt at best.

Proof London has joined the UNCLE team.
Also:
What are some of your favorite title sequences in general, whether film or television?
As a child I loved the opening to The Man From Uncle. The way Napoleon Solo stands behind the bulletproof glass being shot at perhaps subliminally influenced my mirror scene in Skyfall.
That's why it seemed familiar to all of us UNCLE fans.

From laneyboggs2001 research comes:
Production to Begin on “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” for Warner Bros. Pictures
Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer Star Under the Direction of Guy Ritchie
BURBANK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Principal photography will begin on September 9 on Warner Bros. Pictures’ “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” The film is the first to be made under filmmaker Guy Ritchie’s and producer Lionel Wigram’s new production shingle, Ritchie/Wigram Productions, which has a first-look deal with Warner Bros. Having successfully re-imagined the classic detective Sherlock Holmes in two hit films, the pair now bring their fresh take on the hugely popular 1960s television series by bringing super spies Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin to the big screen.
Henry Cavill (“Man of Steel”) stars as Napoleon Solo opposite Armie Hammer (“The Social Network”) as Illya Kuryakin, alongside stars Alicia Vikander (“Anna Karenina”), Elizabeth Debicki (“The Great Gatsby”), Jared Harris (“Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows”), and Hugh Grant (“Cloud Atlas”) as Waverly.
“Guy and I have long loved these characters, and wanted to start from scratch with our own take and create a film steeped in the 1960s for today’s audiences,” said Wigram. “We are particularly happy about our cast, who all bring something special to the film. Henry, Armie, Alicia and Elizabeth are among the best and most exciting actors of the next generation. In addition, we are thrilled to be working with Hugh Grant, who we have known and been fans of for many years, and Jared Harris, who did such a great job for us as Moriarty.”
Set against the backdrop of the early 1960s, at the height of the Cold War, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” centers on CIA agent Solo and KGB agent Kuryakin. Forced to put aside longstanding hostilities, the two team up on a joint mission to stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology. The duo’s only lead is the daughter of a vanished German scientist, who is the key to infiltrating the criminal organization, and they must race against time to find him and prevent a worldwide catastrophe.
The screenplay is written by Ritchie and Wigram, who also serve as producers. John Davis (“Chronicle”) and Steve Clark-Hall (“RocknRolla,” the “Sherlock Holmes” films) are also producing. David Dobkin is executive producer.
Ritchie’s behind-the-scenes creative team includes two-time Oscar®-nominated director of photography John Mathieson (“Gladiator”), production designer Oliver Scholl (“Jumper”), editor James Herbert (the “Sherlock Holmes” films), Oscar®-nominated costume designer Joanna Johnston (“Lincoln”) and Oscar®-winning key makeup and hair designer Sarah Monzani (“Quest for Fire,” upcoming “Edge of Tomorrow”).
Filming will take place in England, with location filming also in Italy, in Rome and Naples.
A presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Hmmm... Hugh Grant is Waverly, eh? Jared Harris seems like the more logical choice for that role, but at least it's based in the 60s.
I wish I was more excited about the casting of the leads, though. I think with a good director, Cavill could be a fine Solo. Not sold on the idea that Ritchie is that director. I definitely like the idea of Cavill far more than Tom Cruise, however. And Hammer has thus far been a vacuum with no charisma on screen for me. That said, I continue to hold out hope that Ritchie can pull this off and launch a new franchise.

I get a feeling the name of the bad guys won't be revealed until the end, you just can't spend a film calling the bad guys THRUSH the entire time.

For no particular reason, I'm wondering if Harris's character will be revealed to be G. Emory Partridge, played by George Sanders in two episodes of the original series.

And so, the Ian Fleming connection starts.
From Chicago Examiner:
"The Man From U.N.C.L.E." will re-imagine the popular 60's television series of the same name. The series centered around secret agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin, played by Robert Vaughn and David McCallum. Bitter rivals from the CIA and the KGB, the two are forced to team up when an international criminal organization looks to reek havoc. Viewers followed these employees of U.N.C.L.E through 105 episodes of intrigue spanning just over three years. According to Wikipedia, Ian Fleming contributed to the show's original concept, so much so that it was originally titled Ian Fleming's Solo.

A twitter from one of the suppliers indicates that there will be a Grand Prix racing sequence in the film, a la "The Girls of Nazarone Affair".............. That's something Bond has never done.

From Henrycavillnews:
(And this is where it gets exciting.
La Repubblica says in this scene "thirty rafts carrying special forces will launch an assault on the beach, in pursuit of an international criminal hiding in the halls of the Aragonese fortress (Baia Castle)."
According to the paper, in the scene the criminal they are looking for tries to escape in a car, giving way to a chase that will lead up a tunnel to the lighthouse in Miseno. This is a view of Cape Miseno from Baia Castle.) - www.henrycavillnews.com (Photos and press interviews are over there as well.)
Well, we have not seen a big battle in a Bond film in a long while so I guess it's up to U.N.C.L.E..

Certainly looks the part, and glad to see that evidential 'Cold War' setting. Authentic and relevant. Nothing new and modern.
Rather excited for this.
