QoS was for me a fantatsic film upon it's release, prmarily because I'm a huge Bond fan, so by default I'm bound to find enjoyment in any Bond film in some capacity BUT now, in retrospect, being more subjective, I think QoS is still a fine film but there are scenes that bug the hell out of me. Interestingly enough, as much as I want(ed) a better theme tune, the theme tune is the least of my concerns with the film. What spoils this film are the quick cut edits, too much of M, could have done without some of the action scenes (particularly the boat chase) and as much as I was able to understand the plot, I do think it could have been made a lot clearer. Still, a great film, a worthy entry into the series, Craig is no Connery but he's still bloody fantastic and if nothing else, QoS makes me yearn for the stand alone story of Bond 23 ASAP.

I was underwhelmed on first viewing, sincerely believed it didn't hold a candle to "Casino Royale" . . . then did a complete 180 on second viewing and fell in love with the film. Saw it six more times, and my opinion remained firmly intact; I love "Quantum of Solace" and consider it to be every bit as good as "Casino Royale" . . . just presented differently. As I've said before, I consider both films to be essentially two acts of the same story.

Pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as much of a painful Bourne ripoff as the trailers wanted it to be, but still slightly justified in correctly assessing that it wouldn't have the sass Casino Royale had.

Bond 23 has all the makings of a classic.

In the words of Tiffany Case
"O my God,you've just killed James Bond"!
I felt disappointed,irritated,fustrated,annoyed,short-changed and actually pretty pissed-off. Some people who didn't initially like QOS say it improves after a second viewing. I haven't yet taken that risk. Thought about it but couldn't bring myself to do it. I'm sure I'll get the DVD,at least the extras could be good, might even explain how it all went wrong.

I hadn't even see this topic. Wow.

I remember thinking, "Those critics and naysayers are a bunch of :(! This movie doesn't suck! I like this new aggressive Bond. Reminds me of Dalton." Sure, it wasn't "OMG! DIS IS THE BEST BOND MOVIE EVER!!!!" but it was very good.

And the 2nd viewing confirmed that I really like this Bond film. Craig as Bond... excellent.

I felt like I had been slapped around the face and kicked up the bum when I first saw it. I have not felt exhausted by a film like I did with QOS. The car chase took my breath away. I felt spent. I mean all that in a good way! It was like a bullet as they intended.

Headache-inducing rubbish.

Badly written, badly edited, badly acted, badly filmed.......badly made, all around. An insult to any intelligent film fan and a horrid addition to the series.

It is Jason Bourne-lite with no thought to the fact that they are makng a James Bond film. That Euro-trash director, Marc Forster, prides himself on his distain for 007 but making sure that everyone make a film as far away from Fleming and Bond as possible.

Mission accomplished!

Daddy Bond responds:

I'm intelligent (so intelligent, it's hard to cope with sometimes) and I wasn't insulted. It was one of the best of the series.

You may have a point there. Forster MAY have thought he was directing The Hobbit.

Another good point. I think I saw a photo of Forster wearing an "I HATE BOND" t-shirt.

Another good point. What possible association could I see between QOS and Fleming's Bond???

But I did think it was a good fourth installment to the Lord of the Rings.

Now, there's true brilliance in Forster! Was it Fleming? Was it Tolkien? Was it Lucas?

Thanks for the humor. I think the point is clear that there was no real substance to the post other than to call QOS trash - which is his right.

However, for me, I thouroughly enjoyed QOS both the first and second time (a true adrenaline rush) and am very much looking forward to the DVD release!

Why then pick it apart? Seems uncharitable, non? To suggest that the view lacks substance by subjecting it to the substantially flimsier monotony of "no it's not" doesn't really improve things, does it?

Some people liked it. Some people didn't like it. Some may express themselves better in their like or dislike and some may see this for what it is - an internet message board of no importance, not a graded dissertation where every thought is scrutinised.

Your own belief in your enjoyment of it is not under threat from those who did not care for it, y'know.

Well, thanks for your concern Jim. It was actually said with a light-hearted flurry, with a wink and a half smile :) , so I hope it will be read in that sense.

I still think he is entitled to his opinion, but I also wanted to point out that the basis of his argument lacked substance. I think both are valid responses. My responses intentionally lacked substance to point out that the original argument lacked substance as well.

However, I definitely agree, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter, this is only an internet message board - after all. :) Or is it? :(

That's because you never bought a ticket to see it in the theatre. You got a dvd with writing on it every five minutes (heaven knows what the quality of the rip was) and sat down with a giant tub of ice cream to view it.

No wonder you got sick.

Hardly a fair shake, especially when it didn't even cost you a dime of your hard earned money.

In all seriousnes Santa, when the movie does come out on DVD, you may want to give it a re-watch on the small screen. The motion on a small screen is not as dramatic. I found, for example, the shaky cam in the last Bourne movie to be less of an irritant on my TV than I did in the movie theater.

So, please give it another chance on the small screen when it comes out.

P.S. Is that picture of your dog?
