I'm sure Craig will wear a Tuxedo in at least a small capacity in CR.  Anyway, does anyone else thing the only other actor that looked rather odd in a tux was Lazenby!?

I thought Laz was nails in that tux. As in, he was dreamy.

I want to know where all of this Bond without a tux is like Batman without his Batsuit. That makes zero sense. I see this comment is basically unrealistic and unwarranted. Bond while not wearing his TUX could still be in a nice suit. I see this more of like Batman wearing rubber muscles instead of a cloth suit or even like taking away Batman classic Black/Grey and giving him all Black. I see this is changing looks or materials not as changing completely am I the only one who is reasonable enough to see this?

First off, by the syntax of the article, Craig merely denied a 'tux'. Perhaps he was poking fun of the interviewer's use of the 'wrong' word, rather than 'dinner jacket.'

That aside, the only 'incorrectness' with this would arise if Bond attends the casino at night, in which case a dark suit would be decidedly pedestrian. Nonetheless, as others have mentioned Bond was never meant to be a dashing man always in his finest garb.

And casinos have often disregarded evening dress rules for a simple dark suit (for, after all, this attracts more money), even in the time when Fleming reviewed a Monte Carlo casino in Thrilling Cities.

The fact that we worry about an 'icon' of Bond being lost is symptomatic of the root of the problem: people today wear evening dress so little that they take anyone who does to be some sort of anomaly and focus on what is simply 'proper' evening wear to be a symbol. (See Brosnan's contract in which no other character he plays can wear a dinner jacket, it completely misunderstands...well, clothing.)

I shall be dissapointed if Bond does not wear a DJ at a night scene in CR (God have mercy on the Bond franchise if he wears a DJ in the day (I attribute the mistake in AVTAK to the altitude of the Eiffel tower)), but I have never taken it to be an integral part of the Bond character. If the story is improved by Bond wearing a suit at night, all the better.

Huh? Jas Bond is not wearing a tuxedo in Casino Royale?

This isn't right.

James Bond always wears a tuxedo.

What's happening?

He's supposed to wear a tuxedo all the time.

This is very strange.

You are correct sir!

As long as he isn't wearing a t-shirt and slacks I'm alright with the no tux thing

True, James Bond does not wear a Tux in FRWL, but Connery does in the Pre title sequence.

Quite. I think he can still look fine as James Bond without having the tux for this first film.

Sean Connery is the best dressed James Bond.

The evidence of DAF suggests otherwise... I mean, how common is a white tux?

Err. How hard is it to read my post?

Rent DN, FRWL, GF, TB.

:D

And while I'm doing that, perhaps you could buy a dictionary and look up the word "irony".

Sean Connery is the best dressed James Bond.

How common is a white tux? Well, not only did Connery wear one in Diamonds Are Forever, but he also wore one in the PTS of Goldfinger (an iconic image at that). Also, Roger Moore wore one in The Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy, and A View To A Kill.

None of which alters the fact that white tuxedos are irretrieveably common, to be worn only by bookies who've won the lottery and never by gentlemen.
