My first was Casino Royale. It was amazing to enter a totally different world of Bond. Since then I have read LALD, DN, GF, and FYEO and I've enjoyed them all.

I was seduced by a gorgeous girl who threw me a copy of "Oh Her Majesty's Secret Service" whilst on holidays :) Can't really ask for more from a girl than being a fan of the literary Bond!

"Casino Royale" was my first. It's great. I wonder if Fleming could be published in today's politically correct world. Bond's views on women would probably be considered non-publishable by most houses. Though I agree with some of his rantings. His parting comment after his love interest's suicide was also remarkable.

My first was Goldfinger, but back then I didn't have any of the other books so I couldn't read the others. Now thanks to the re-releases I am now reading them in order and I am currently reading Dr. No.

My first Bond novel was Goldfinger. I had to go to the library with my brother, so I figured I could take this chance and get a Bond novel. I REALLY liked Goldfinger the movie, so when I saw it I grabbed it right away. I read it in a week.:) After that, I read Casino Royale, then Moonraker, and after that Live and Let Die. And, after I finish re-reading Moonraker, I'll read Diamonds are Forever and From Russia With Love.

I was a big fan of the films and always intended to read the books, but never got around to it. One day in the library I noticed a large book titled "Gilt Edged Bonds", I picked it up and it contained Casino Royale, From Russia With Love and Dr No. Needless to say I became a huge fan of the Fleming novels and spent much of the following year tracking them down in all sorts of places. Today, with computers and sites like Amazon it would be very easy to find all of the books in a few minutes. I'm glad that I did not have any of that though. There was nothing like the thrill of finding an old Fleming in a used bookstore after searching through hundreds, if not thousands of books. The trip home with your new find and the anticipation of reading the book.

I would say that now I am more partial to the books than to the films.

My first was Casino Royale, which I finished on April 12, 2003: 20 minutes before the 50th Anniversary. :) Then I read Live and Let Die and Moonraker. I'm going on to the Bensons right now, so that I can save the rest of Fleming for last. I don't really plan on getting any Gardners any time soon.
