From IMDB...

<i>AUSTIN POWERS SET TO RETURN FOR FOURTH MOVIE

Mike Myers is reportedly set to make one final outing as spoof spy Austin Powers - despite promising the kitsch character would never grace the silver screen again. The Wayne's World comic is working on a script and there are plans to go into pre-production in the spring, with the shoot taking place at Shepperton and Pinewood studios in England before the end of the year. Myers will once again take on writing and directing duties and will star as a variety of characters, including Austin, Dr. Evil and Fat Bastard. In the fourth movie in the series, Austin will be reunited with all his leading ladies from the previous three films: Liz Hurley, Heather Graham and Beyonc

I thought the third one was supposed to be the last Austin Powers movie. I thought that one was too soap opery and not as funny as the first two. I guess it just goes to show the power of the Almighty dollar.

Of interest to Bond fans. New Line Cinema reached an agreement with MGM before "Goldmember" was released that MGM would have title approval. MGM objected to the name and title "Goldmember" being used for the last movie and even succeeded in getting a court injunction against New Line from using the title. New Line was forced to recall all the publicity materials for "Goldmember".
MGM and New Line came to terms. New Line agreed to attach a trailer for "Die Another Day" in front of "Goldmember" and gave MGM title approval for any future Austin Powers movie. In return MGM agreed to allow New Line to use the title "Goldmember".

Of course New Line believed "Goldmember" would be the last Austin Powers movie, so they didn't care about giving MGM the right to approve or disapprove a future title...
I wonder what they are thinking now.....

Sounds familiar - though just three films of ladies should be easier to round up than the 19 films of ladies as reported (rumoured) for DAD.

I reckon the 20-ish previous ladies will become the casting rumour of the likes of the Beyond the Ice rumour.

It will always be worthy of a quick spin to drum up interest.

Another Powers movie? Ugh - leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. Personally, I'm ashamed to have the first two on DVD...

I am proud to have all three on DVD. I loved all three, and I can't wait for the fourth one. Mike Myers is a comedic genius. I was watching one of the "making of" features on Goldmember, and Myers said that Eric Idle came to the set, and was laughing and told Mike that the scene was funny. Now if you can get the approval of one of the Python group, then it must be good.

I really love the first movie, but I think it's been all down hill fast after that. A fourth movie? That will be a video for me, but I'm looking forward to what Bond title they'll parody this time. Thunderballs? Live and Let Shag?

the first is the only good one, the other two moved too far from spy spoof into poo jokes and celeb cameos...

Eep! Looks like I better brush up on my Bond trivia!

The second Austin Powers film was my favourite. The third had its moments, but aside from the fantastic opening sequence, it wasn't all that memorable.

As long as they don't trot out the same jokes for a fourth time.

Well, if Mr. Meyers has an idea he thinks will work, why not? He's certainly not doing it for the money.

I do agree that the last two (save for a few great scenes in both) haven't measured up to the first.

As to titles:

Live & Let Shag (get Sir Paul to perform it)
You Only Shag Twice
For Your Shag Only
A Shag to a Kill

You can only take it so far though...baby;)

I thought GOLDMEMBER was by far the best of the series, and I felt the ending left the door wide open for another Austin Powers adventure. With Scott (Seth Green) having become fully evil and vowed revenge on Powers, I'm sure our hero will team up with the newly-good Dr. Evil to take Scott down (and I can see Dr. Evil's goodness forming the basis for a running gag, as he tries without much success to shake off his evil reputation*). I'm not at all surprised that there may be a fourth Powers flick. I've been fully expecting one.

I read that when GOLDMEMBER was in jeopardy as the last film's title due to legal wrangling by the Bond people, NEVER SAY MEMBER AGAIN was considered as an alternative, which would have been a really cool putdown, referencing another film that The Powers That Be on the Bond series had not taken kindly to. It's almost a pity that permission ended up being granted for Mike Myers and company to use the title AUSTIN POWERS IN GOLDMEMBER.

*And how about an amusing reversal of the situation in the earlier films, with Scott trying to tempt his now good, or maybe "quasi-evil" father back to the dark side?

Does that mean Myers will play a variation on Mr. Big? Mr. Small, perhaps? If so, expect lots and lots of dick jokes.

It was inevitable. Myers has always said since TSWSM that "this will be the last one," but then we got Goldmember, and then we will probably get the fourth. I enjoyed the films, but I think a fourth one should be it. You can only do so many genital and bodily function jokes before they become tired. So, if he does another, fine. I'll see it. But after that, the jokes won't just be recycled, they'll be compacted. As for a title:

Moonraper
Lay and Let Die
On Her Majesty's Secret Cervix
Licence To Shag
The Shag Is Not Enough
Die Another Lay

If it's another "shag" title, then I'd certainly say that Myers is running out of ideas. There are only so many times when the word "shag" can be used in that series.

"You're Only Evil Twice" is a good title but it just doesn't have the Austin Powers ring to it.

Goldmember definitely left the audience with the feeling that there may be a fourth Powers film, the trilogy were excellent, though I have mixed views on the potential next one. Though, saying that, I had mixed views about Goldmember, but Myers delivered a classic film.

I love Austin Powers! My favorite is Goldmember. I was expecting a another one with Scott Evil going abck in time to get "Evil" Dr. Evil to help battle Austin Powers and "Good" Dr.Evil. I whould also have it set in the 80s.

They could call Shag Another Day
Thundershag
Austinpussy or
Missionary Impossible

According to a report in a newspaper the other day the title of the movie is supposedly FOR YOUR THIGHS ONLY and J-LO has been asked to play the Powers-Girl role.
