At least Max von Sydow's Blofeld knows how to pet a cat in Never Say Never Again. That was a very happy and loved cat. One of the reasons why I like Max von Sydow's Blofeld to the other Blofelds we have seen in the films. He seems almost sane and very professional, a man that people might actually follow, not the homicidal maniac that we see in the Eon films.
Agreed on all points. I love Pleasance as an actor but I too really liked Max von Sydow. Of course my favorite Blofeld is the creepy unseen guy in FRWL -- not only is he chilling and smart, he knows how to pet a cat!.

And yeah, that cat in YOLT looks miserable. The cats in TB and NSNA look like they love their owner.

I know, I know, this topic is really dum! Just compare Blofeld petting his cat in YOLT and Blofeld petting his cat in FRWL or TB. You'll see what I mean right away.

But in actuality, the topic isn't really dum! Although the cat is a live animal, it's also a prop for the actor and part of his performance as Blofeld. Blofeld should be attached to the cat. I was thinking that it would be interesting if the actor's playing Blofeld could reflect his mood in the way he pets his cat.
If he is sort of pestering the cat while petting it, then that would be an indication that Blofeld is getting angry and executions are about to happen.

You've totally convinced me, Triton. But being a cat-lover (love dogs too!), I'm very easy to convince.

BTW, how did you become such an expert on cats? I was pretty impressed with your chinchilla post.

I would like to say that I am knowledgable cat fancier and expert , especially because my sister is a small animal verternarian. But in reality I was intrigued when I read that Blofeld's cat was described as a "chinchilla". So I typed in "Chinchilla Persian cat" into Google and did some reading and then regurgitated what I read in my post. You gotta love the Internet!
