Admit it folks...how many of you have seriously considered getting a white persian with a diamond choker just for the pure Blofeld imae it would project?
Me neither. Not much of a cat person.

But as we ALL know, the persian is the true No. 1 and conveys his instructions to the human by the power of suggestion while he's being stroked.

So his name should be " THE No. 1."

However, Dr. Evil pussying around with a black cat would've been funnier.

It might be overly "in-jokey," but it would be funny to see a black persian cat in Bond's flat, or perhaps a white cat walking around outside. I know they can't use any SPECTRE-related characters, but what about the cat? Surely nobody would base a lawsuit on that!

Everyone should be able to identify with this phenomenon.Originally posted by DLibrasnow
I know a number of people who upon casually watching YOLT on ABC remarked that they had ripped off Mike Myers.
When I was a young lad I used to fall into that trap when I heard what I thought was a copy of the "new" song of the day. I used to get confused whenever Mum tried to explain it all.

Same thing with their "Knockin' on Heaven's Door". Every other band who covers that songs nowadays uses Axl's "hey-hey-hey" vocal part. Horrible, that is.Originally posted by DLibrasnow
Some friends of mine didn't believe me that the Guns 'n' Roses LALD was a cover song!
Back on topic. I knew I read it somewhere a few years ago, and I managed to find the link. According to this website http://www.citizenlu...s/cats-S-Z.html, the name of the cat is "Solomon". Never heard that before or after, but the guy who runs the site seems to be quite sure. His source is "Cat World: A Feline Encyclopedia by Desmond Morris;
Penguin Books, New York 1997". Don't know what to think of it. Don't know where this information comes from. Maybe it's what the feline "actor" was named? The site only referrs to YOLT...
BTW, just back from a three week holliday and a week of hard work that kept me away from CBn. Good to be back. Seems like you guys had a lot of fun during the last four weeks and that I missed a lot. Looks like I've got an awful lot to read this weekend...

I don't know if that hand belongs to Pleasance or not but whoever it is pets that cat like a fey little wimp.
Donald Pleasance probably never owned an animal in his life. The cat in You Only Live Twice doesn't look very happy during most of the film. When the explosions are going off, it looks like Pleasance is choking the cat to keep hold of him/her.
At least Max von Sydow's Blofeld knows how to pet a cat in Never Say Never Again. That was a very happy and loved cat. One of the reasons why I like Max von Sydow's Blofeld to the other Blofelds we have seen in the films. He seems almost sane and very professional, a man that people might actually follow, not the homicidal maniac that we see in the Eon films.

I came across this site awhile ago, but I don't put much validity to the name only because the site notes Solomon as: "Blofeld's Pampered chinchilla."Originally posted by stromberg

CHINCHILLA!?![]()
Chinchilla is the name given to a seperate color classification of the Persian or Longhair cat. It is named for the rodent chinchilla (Chinchilla laniger), because the cat has two-tone fur like the rodent. The distinctive appearance of the Chinchilla Persian is caused by the absence of the black color pigment called melanin from all but the very tips of its hairs. While the predominant impression is of a white cat, this tipping has the effect of making such cats appear to sparkle as they move, due to the way in which the hairs shift in position.
According to my research, the same Chinchilla Persian appeared in both You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever and this pet's name was Solomon.

So the pet's actual name was called Solomon. I had it in my mind that the character of the white persian cat was called Solomon and I'm pretty sure it was never given a name. But I guess it's real name it just as good as any I suppose.
