Only time will tell. If the next slate of Bond films all have a similar formula to DAD, then yes, DAD is the model Bond. However, I think Bond 21 will attempt to emulate DAD, then after that, the producers will probably decide to try something new.

Has Die Another Day replaced Goldfinger as the model Bond film

Didn't MGM state that this was to be the way to go for the next film around the time of DAD's release?
Based on the returns for DAD thus far, I would say that the pressures will be on Eon to emulate this style. Whether they do or not will depend on what other ideas for directions they have and, probably most importantly, whether they have the strength to withstand the MGM might.

reply to kevrichardson; Who sould direct Bond 21?
Sure there are differences, but I think the simularities between 'DAF' and 'DAD' are very striking. You are right, Blofeld did not use plastic surgery, but the notion was mentioned in the opening sequences, (probably to explain why Blofeld changed appearance since 'OHMSS'). I thought the fightscene in 'GF' was genius, because Bond could never win a physical fight with Oddjob. That's why he has to use his smarts to overcome the thread of Oddjob. You can't even compare this fight with the one in 'FRWL'. I also don't agree the Aston Martin was not given enough to do. The carchase is one of the main actionsequences in the film. As to you remark about why Bond wasn't sucked out of the plane in 'GF'? Well, why wasn't he sucked out of the plane in 'DAD'? That finale made a lot less sense than the climax of 'GF' and it's one of the worst climaxes of the series (although I did not care for the finale of 'TND' and 'TWINE' either).

CrashDrive what was genius about the fight in "Goldfinger" . Oddjob /Bond fight reminds me of one between a cat and a rag-doll . Once again Bond "got lucky" . when Oddjob's hat sliced the electrical cable and got stuck in between the bars in Fort Knox. In "FRWL" Bond has too use his wits in order to beat Red Grant .

I'm with kevrichardson on this one, the FRWL fight is one of the best fight scenes in the series and has never been equalled. Though the Alec/Bond fight in GE and the Bond/Zao fight in DAD come close.

Well said, and really spot on. I forsee that DAD will be the defining Bond of the Brosnan era. Its what I consider the ultimate Bond, and what all previous adventures will have to live up to. I think what you will see is, like GF, and TSWLM before it, the next Brosnan adventure, and maybe the next two or three Bonds after that, try and live up to DAD, just like TB, and YOLT did with GF, and MR and OP did with TSWLM.

I disagree. I thought it was a badly constructed movie, and Brosnan's "defining" film is GoldenEye because of how it was shot by Martin Campbell.
