They all can't see it because there isn't any incontrovertible proof.

You're basing your entire idea on a theory and something said in an interview with a crew member that isn't fulfilled in the film. Within the context of the film itself, there is absolutely no proof, mention, allusion, hint or comment that the two Ms are different characters.

So while you mention the Wilson comment, we all know that ideas and scripts change on route to the final product and so it should be left at that.

Any further exposition is utterly redundant.

This whole issue was covered extensively in the "R to Q" thread that went on for over 10 pages. The simple fact is that some people will never subscribe to the theory that Bernard Lee and Robert Brown played different characters, despite the interview with Wilson, the different relationship between the two M's and Bond and the fact that it is plausible that an Admiral would be appointed as Head of Mi6.
The people who believe they both played Sir Miles are probably the same people who believe Dame Judi plays Sir Miles in drag (just kidding).

Personally, I do and always have believed that Brown played Admiral Sir Miles and Brown played Admiral Hargreaves.

There simply is not enough compelling evidence either way. Lee was referred to as Sir Miles in at least one movie and Brown was referred to as Admiral Hargreaves in TSWLM. Really in the whole scheme of things its not a big deal.

Please let this issue drop people...The "R to Q" thread ended with everyone leaving the thread with the same belief as they did when it started. Nothing anyone says will convince people to change their minds.

Some people (as noted in the previous thread) believe that John Cleese plays Maj. Boothroyd in DAD. They state that he is a different character than the 'R' in TWINE, just as Brown played Adm. Hargreaves in TSWLM. The two theories are the same in that some people are unable to see a male actor as anything than Sir Miles or Maj. Boothroyd respectively.
