Boy, it's all about Halle, isn't it? She's definetly the selling point of this movie.
Ice palace looks great.
Well it's a promo for the audience to tune in two days later. Let's see, on one hand recent Oscar winner, golden woman of the moment, on the other a young actress no one knows in the U.S. in her first film.... not exactly a hard decision for the promo people for ET on whom to focus on in a 20 second clip. ;-) But it's nice to see Rosamund Pike is actually working on this film. LOL
And agreed, the Ice Palace looks grand, love the scope and sweep of the set.
MBE (oh and I like the untied bow tie look, very sexy, too bad it's not for the scene)

JimmyBond (24 Apr, 2002 04:59 p.m.):
Ok, this might be a dumb question for you guys, but the Ice palace is entirely ice right? If so, wouldnt it get cold in there? And if thats so, why are they walkng around in formal wear?
I have gained access to the Ice Palace on the first day they were filming there when I visited the Pinewood Studios. When I entered I was astonished how beautiful it looked. The entire Ice Palace is not built out of ice (of course) and it was nice to see what the effect of smokemachines were having inside the Ice Palace. Unfortunately Pierce and Halle had left about five minutes before I came but Rosamund Pike was still there. She looked extremely beautiful and when I asked her for an autograph she was also very friendly and she invited me to sit in the chair of Toby Stephens! She was indeed wearing a white dress but I can't say more because I haven't been paying attention on her clothes because I couldn't believe I was talking to the Bond-girl. I also saw Lee Tamahori in the back and I was there when they filmed a very short shot of all the extra people who are walking there. The chairs you see inside are all from plastic and the champagne bottles are empty. It is again Bollinger. There is also a very nice fountain and outside I saw a huge Ice Palace wich they were building behind the 007stage. I have seen a lot more but I will let you all know another time

In other words - maybe Graves is attracted to diamonds like Auric Goldfinger was to gold...

God, I think you are right!! We have heard numerous reports of diamonds being involved. The suitcase, a diamond mine, diamonds in the face, and now Halle wearing diamonds!

I don't know if anyone had a chance to see tonights preview on ET but there was something added from last night!! Halle Berry at the biodomes. The clip showed Halle and Bob Goen (The Host) in front of the biodomes. She was wearing a black leather jacket that was practically backless, and cool sunglasses! She continues to appal me with her looks. And yes that definitly was Rosamund Pike. I taped it this time and saw a better picture and that is Rosamund beside Pierce. I can't wait until tomorrows show!!
P.S. Mary Heart pronounced it Pierce BROSNAN tonight! Now which one of you guys sent her some hate mail after her mistake yesterday?

As far as I know Xen, SE only appeared in the Title Song sequence.Xenobia (27 Apr, 2002 01:37 a.m.):
As for singer cameos....where did Sheena Easton make a cameo in FYEO? Can someone tell me the scene please.

You know what...I met Graves is to Diamonds as Goldfinger is to Gold. I just wish Eon had a little more fun with Gustav's name....perhaps going for the German or Russian word for Diamond.
And let's not forget....Diamonds are forever....and sometimes Jinx's last forever too!
As for singer cameos....where did Sheena Easton make a cameo in FYEO? Can someone tell me the scene please.

Anyway, I completely missed the Bond preview. I missed the first five minutes of the show. Is that why perhaps? I caught the rest but saw no mention of Bond

scaramanga (25 Apr, 2002 07:47 p.m.):
It really is becoming the Halle Berry show isn't it? Anyway, did anyone hear the dialogue between Brosnan and Berry towards the end of the video? I didn't catch what Brosnan said except "Jinx", but Berry replied: "No, I'll always be your jinx." or something to that effect. Does this mean that Bond only dubs her "Jinx" and she is stuck with the name for the remainder of the film?
No, it seems more like she's using another name when he re-meets her in the Ice Palace. The dialogue in the ET Online snippet goes:
Bond: "Shall we? You're not Jinx anymore?"
And she replies "Oh, I'll always be a Jinx to you."
The funny part was that in the clip, Halle then trips and Pierce catches her before she falls and you can hear him saying "I got you, I got you," with everyone laughing. Evidently she's more of a Jinx to herself. ;-)

No one has yet mentioned LT's little bombshell: Madonna is still on for the cameo and she is getting a costume especially made for her.
Perhaps I am cruel, but why does she get to have special costume made for her? She shouldn't be kowtowed to like that -- especially for a cameo. Besides, shouldn't Shirley Bassey be the one to sing the theme for this, the 40th anniversary movie....let alone have a cameo?
I wonder how much it cost to get Donatella Versace to make the gown for Jinx? It's pretty and HB does fill it out well....but Versace for Bond? I think it should be Valentino, but that is just me.
Thanks for MBE for giving us that little bit of dialogue between Bond and Jinx, but what does Brosnan say to Berry when she trips?

While Bob Goen was talking and on some other outside shots I saw these exact lamps mounted on the outside wall of the ice palace. What do you think is the significance of these?
One other thing, it is quite obvious that Bond and Jinx do meet before the ice palace. Firstly was the comment about meeting properly, i'll always be a jinx to you...etc etc... Another quote from Halle was "Hello James, your not just here to see the penguins" or something very close along those lines.
I think that's all, i taped it so i'll keep you updated!

The exterior set has been built on the Pinewood Backlot, with the Ice Palace on the 007 Stage. One really can't describe how amazing the set does look, it's beyond words.
There was a brief glimpse of dialogue in the report.
Bond: "Shall we? You're not Jinx anymore?"
Jinx:"Oh, I'll always be a Jinx to you."
The dialogue seemingly hints that, while at the Ice Palace, Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) Jinx will use cover-name while she's at the Ice Palace. Also shown was a very small clip of Jinx turning to her left and saying "James". It's hard to describe Spoiler Warning (Highlight To Read) but it's obvious that Jinx and Bond don't arrive at the Ice Palace together. Jinx seems semi-surprised, semi-"I expected you to be here".
An interesting note to fans, after delivering her "Jinx to you..." line Berry actually tripped and was caught by Brosnan, who said "I got ya, I got ya". Seems Berry is actually jinxing herself!
Two outfits worn by Jinx were shown, already seen on CommanderBond.Net. However, it was revealed that Jinx's dress at the Ice Palace party was designed by Donatella Versace. Also shown was Jinx's car. A Ford Thunderbird, CommanderBond.Net was the first to reveal she would be driving that car, that is a special edition with a unique body paint.
On to bigger news, the reported confirmed that reports Madonna would not have a cameo appearance in Die Another Day are false. Madonna will appear in the film. Director Lee Tamahori revealed she'd be filming her scenes over two days. The scenes will include Madonna in a specially designed outfit.
Strangely, the footage with Rosamund Pike was missing from the special.
If you'd like to discuss the ET Report you can do so in this thread of the Die Another Day Forums.

The Ice Palace scenes were awesome, I think this is the first time in a Brosnan Bond film where the footage just screamed out Bond! Sure, the other Brosnan films have had their moments, but this set (Ice Palace) just oozed Bond. The more I see the more I want to see the film now.

Looking back at the pictures from Cadiz it seems we have a little deja-vu here. In Havanna/Cadiz Jinx is also standing next to a bar with a drink in her hand when 007 makes his introduction. So this is the hot variation...
In Iceland at the Ice Palace it's the cold variation. As you can see in some shots and as you have pointed out, Jinx is standing next to the bar when Bond comes in and they somehow repeat their first encounter. I go with you that Jinx is undercover.
Now back to Jinx' clothes. She has diamonds all over her dress and also wears lots of jewelry - also diamonds. I think that's because of the host of this party, Gustav Graves, and to give her an easier access to him. In other words - maybe Graves is attracted to diamonds like Auric Goldfinger was to gold...

I like this too, at last we are seeing sets which are huge. Although GoldenEye had a great, very Bondish set for the satellite dish, this may make up for what TND and TWINE were lacking. Bond films should always be bigger and better than other normal action films, and they are known for their big, detailed sets.
