I think women get better as they age, thus I so not understand this thing about certain women being too old for Bond heroines. Totally, totally agree with you about Shazza Stoney being too old for Elektra, though. Otherwise, I think she would've been cool, even perfect. But her being, like, what, 40 at the time? That would've meant serious rewrites. Imagine Renard telling M, "When I took her she was promise itself." M would've been like, "But she was 39 at the time. Where has she been? Under a rock?"

Still, I will lay off your girl Denise. I happen to know there are totally worse actresses out there. Girlfriend's going to have to start holding out for non-bimbo roles, though. Otherwise, she will be typecast until some asteroid collides with earth. Check out Nise's latest movies and roles.

Valentine: Sarcastic bimbo-whore

Empire: High-class bimbo-whore.

Undercover brother: cartoonish bimbo-whore

You Stupid Man: Bitchy bimbo-whore

MEMO to Denise: fire your agent, hon. Now. As in right this second. Don't even wait for those nails to dry. Pick up your cell. Call him and fire his ***. Just looking out for you, sweetie.

Anyhoo, back to the topic. Girls who should have been Bond girls.

Angela Bassett
Cathy Tyson

Pam Grier in LALD . She would have over powered Moore with her natural sexual magnetism . Theresa Russell no good, nothing special about her . Angela Bassett the same as Pam Grier , also fall inot the "Grace Jones" column to "weird" . Amanda Pay may for "TLD" , not a bad choice . Cathy Tyson never heard of her need more information.

Cathy Tyson is an elegant British actress of African descent. Very classy. I first saw her in a film with Bob Hoskins called "Mona Lisa".

I also always thought Paulina Porizkova would be ideal. Used to think Cindy C. might be okay. But the girl has, like, zero screen presence, sad to say. She sleptwalk through "Fair Game." First time I saw it, I was utterly like, "Okay. Very funny. Showing us the rehearsal footage. Where's the real movie you twerps. What, you can't be serious. That was it!? Hey, honey, it's called acting. Try it."

What photographs well doesn't always hold your attention on the big screen. Back to modeling, Cindy dear...

Isabella Rossellini, on the other hand, is a model who can totally act and would've been aces in a Bond film. Iman, too.

INDEED! Like fine wine.

I was recently talking to my former employer about this topic and mentioned Sela Ward (my post is above somewhere) and she confirmed it for me.

Back in late '97, the lovely Sela was on Oprah and the topic of Bond came up. Sela did read for Paris and got Pierce's OK, but Eon said she was "too old". This got a full round of groans from the audience.

She was either 39 or just 40 at the time and PB was 44. The character was written as "being close to Bond's age". There had also been some lines that stated they had maintained their relationship over "several years" but, as is often the case with 007, duty called with little or no notice and he had to dash, breaking Paris' heart in the process and his own.

She ended the tale by saying something to the effect that Bond could always have any "pretty young thing" whenever he wanted, but with Paris (at least in the draft she read) Bond had actually stated "I loved you....and still do". She also had a line about Bond teaching her to drive a stick in "that beautiful old Aston Martin".

Alas, Eon thought differently. Their (and our) loss.

Now i remember her CathyTyson from "Mona Lisa (1986) . I also think Paulina Porizkova would be good . She was always mentioned as being up for a role. Isabella Rossellini would have been good also.

Yes. A missed opportunity. Will someone tell me what those fools at EON are thinking with? I mean, I really liked Teri. And ultimately, she made the role work. But it's the principle of the thing. Sela would've been just as good. Or even better. And to, like, dismiss her because of "being too old." Please. It depends on the role. Sharon Stone was too old to play Elektra. But Sela was the righ age for Paris.

They could not have been thinking at all . Since i have read that most of Teri Hatcher's scenes ended up on the cutting room floor. She was woefully miscasted in the film . But it's another rest why hot TV actress of the moment end up in Bond film. It amazes me that people discuss Denise Richards with scorn. Near talk about how disgraceful Teri Hatcher's performance in "TND was . Sela Ward was is a far superior actress that Hatcher . In "TND" it is hard to believe that after "Tracy" . James Bond could have once fallen so hard (as in the film) Paris . It is quite a step down.

I would like to have seen those deleted scenes added to the Tomorrow DVD. I always thought that Paris was so brief in the film. Something seemed to be missing. That whole subplot was a missed opportunity. Imagine if the whole thing was about Bond using Paris against his will (M's orders)as a spy against her husband. The tension would have built throughout the whole movie. And then she dies in the end, rather than, like, what? half-hour into the movie? What an emotional build up that would have been. It would have been like Hitchcock's Notorious. The emotional impact would have been even more powerful than The World is Not Enough.

Sigh....They should have more women write these movies... Not to be reverse-sexist or anything, but female writers would add a fresh voice to the series ( i can just imagine all the guys rolling their eyes now). A female writer allegedly punched up Elektra, M, and Christmas for The world is not enough. Overall, I think it worked.

That 's why for "TWINE" they brought in a female screenwriter to tighten up the female aspect of the story . Purvis and Wade just could not do it. As always by the way. Dana Stevens , with Bruce Feirstein came on broad . The problem with "Paris" was acting not writing.

My list of Dream Bond girls would include:

2000s: Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nicole Kidman, Monica Bellucci, Charlize Theron(Brosnan's own choice)

1990s: Elizabeth Hurley, Elle Macpherson, Tia Carrere, Hunter Tylo

1980s: Michelle Pfeiffer, Sharon Stone, Emma Samms, Christie Brinkley, Rachel Ward

1970s: Lesley-Anne Downe, Joan Collins(as a bad girl, of course), Jacklyn Smith, Jenny Agutter, Jacqueline Bissett(I know she was Miss Goodthighs in the 1967 Casino Royale spoof but I would like for her to have been an "official" Bond girl)

1960s: Catherine Deneuve, Sophia Loren, Romy Schneider, Capucine, Nancy Kwan

1950s: Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe(as Tiffany Case), Jean Simmons(as Gala Brand), Cyd Charisse, Gina Lollobrigida

1940s: Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Rita Hayworth, Ava Gardner, Gene Tierney, Deborah Kerr(as Miss Monepenny)

Lauren Bacall , Ingrid Bergman , Rita Hayworth , Ava Gardner , Gene Tierney( too much over bite) , Deborah Kerr - all broads fromthe 2940's . Nice fantasy list buddy , still one small detail . There was no James Bond anything in the 1940's . The other decade the "Fifties" , well it was hard enough to get the novels published . It's was something else to see them into films. The other Babes on your list for the remaining decade when Bond was in fully swing . Some are a little unique , Capucine for example . While others like Catherine Deneuve seem just right .

I would've loved to have seen Lena Olin as a Bond girl (Swedish actress, currently playing the mother on "Alias" and far sexier than Jennifer Garner). She is, admittedly, too old for the role now, but she would have made a great Paris or Elektra. Check out her "whacked out" performance with Gary Oldman in the movie "Romeo is Bleeding."

Just saw Once Upon a Time in the West.

Claudia Cardinale... is... soooo... hot.

That was 1969, and she was 31 years old. Visually speaking, I'm sure she could have made a fine Domino at the age of 26, or even better, a Volpe. (Just a hypothetical. Not saying I wish it were so.)

I wouldn't waste her on DAF.

So, in conclusion: I'd like to see her as the rather forgettable Helga Brandt in YOLT. Talk about your healthy chests!
