Americans certainly have a taste for mediocre pop,but Britain is'nt exactly a vortex of musical genius. Take a look at at the british top ten on any given week, and you'll find a plethora of useless "artists" taking up space, boy bands,ex boyband members (Robbie " I wish I had real talent" Williams,ex Spice twits (Victoria "why is she famous again?") buck toothed midgits from down under (Kylie), fake brit soul (Craig "I wish I was sexy and ghetto" David), Tv stars (Will Young) and too many others to mention.

I think Sade should be the next Bond singer.:)

I'm so glad Bond fans don't have power over the Bond movies. We have so many bad ideas, honestly, of what the "next" Bond film should be. Me included, so don't think I'm being conceeded or anything.

Sting! A cool jazzy theme to fit what I hope will be a more down to earth bond next time

Ian Brown, please.

Re: this talk of getting old. All I'll say is that Madonna and Brosnan could've passed as Rosamund Pike's parents in the Blades Club scene.

My hopes and dreams for a Bond 21 theme song... a pop ditty sung by Seal. It would be cool to see if he could acheive the same status that "Kiss From a Rose" accomplished for "Batman Forever." A top 10 hit and a couple of grammys. That would be too cool!

I'm gonna put in my ideas, and they might be the most popular :)

Blink-182, Greenday, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and heck, lets throw in POE for good measure.

Jeez mate! Being a little harsh arnt you? Here in Australia she is very respected, for her Music talent and many various things (Helping charities for one). She is also (in my opinion, widely shared by others) a very beautifull woman, and a very nice person. I'm sure (if the tables were turned) she wouldn't be insulting you in such a manner.

Why dont you just focus on their music talents and quit with the pathetic cheap shots.

Kylie (horse face) is the musical equivalent of Kermit the frog. There is no account for taste I guess.:)

The Red Hot Chilli Peppers would do a good job. The Zephyr Song and By The Way are both quite good tunes.

Can o' worms alert!

Hey! Don't diss Kermit the Frog! Obviously not a top recording star, but "It's Not Easy Bein' Green" and "The Rainbow Connection" are classics. Tread carefully, there's a crazy Muppet freak in the water.

Okay, I'm done now.

Stuart!

I'd rather have Robbie Williams but it'll not happen because (apologies for this) you Americans dont know a good singer when you see one

Unfair! Foul! Time out!

Bit of a generalization there, don't you think? I'll give you this- your average American teenager has the worst musical taste in the world (actually, the worst taste in lots of other things too).

But we're not all Britney and N'Sync fans. I rail against the trashy, trade-on-your-looks-rather-than-any-discernable-talent pop stars every single chance I get! I'm a music purist if ever there was one, and I'm not alone in my country or even my state. I'm 20 and my favorite singer is the great Lou Rawls, followed by Elton John, Billy Joel and Simon & Garfunkel. I also like Queen, Jim Nabors, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Petula Clark, Dan Fogelberg, John Denver and Kenny Rogers, among others (I've got too many favorites to name, really).

Not many performers of today appeal to me; Lenny Kravitz I admire and respect because of his musical ability and expertise (writes nearly all his own songs, plays all his instruments on his albums, has a Masters' degree in music), and I like his music though some of his albums can kind of drag on. Haven't heard much of Alicia Keys though she is classically trained and what I've heard of her I've liked and I think she might be a good choice to perform a Bond theme, although on the converse side while she's very musical her voice sometimes sounds very indistinguished and ordinary (like I said, haven't heard enough of her to judge adequately).

So to reiterate, maybe the status quo of American youth wouldn't know a good singer since they're pretty much being given ****** and told it's caviar starting from an early age, and the music video has made kids forget that music is a sound medium, not a visual one, and the looks of a performer, while it has been an issue in this century (Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles, etc.) are not the sole qualification for their music careers and are completely irrelevant in determining talent. Nevertheless, there are those of us who are working to stave off this bull[censored]. I wouldn't let any child of mine be suckered into having no musical taste like that and I know there are others who agree with me.

Simply stated, don't judge the entire population by its blind masses, Stu."

WHAT THE HELL HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH BOND MUSIC? LET ALONE BOND?

P.S. ROBBIE AND ALL HIS FANS CAN GO TO HELL AND STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THE WORLD OF 007 FOREVER!!!!!!

I was responding to an off-the-cuff insult directed at Americans, saying that we're not all defunct of musical taste. Going off on tangents happens on every message board, Rayliottaasbond. Don't lose your cool over it.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. There's one famous Briton who, quite unfortunately, has never recorded a James Bond theme yet and I'm certain he would do one hell of a job with the task. He's my one and only choice...

David Bowie

David Bowie is an excellent choice - he's diverse, got a unique voice and has a great image.

Its about time we had a man singing the Bond title theme!

What about Coldplay, they did a really good rendition of YOLT, but I think they might be a little too mellow. Another goup who might be good, doing an istrumental, are the Propellerheads. They helped David Arnold score TND and also did a cool version of the OHMSS theme (not "We Have All The Time In The World"). They are Bond fans too.

Solitaire - most of the guys I know, myself included, think Kylie is incredibly hot, not some "horse mouth" like you call her.

The music is getting predicatable and crapy since After a view to a kill
(exception TWINE) MAdonna sucked. I don't have any thing against the austrailn girl and robbie dude but if you consider that why don't tou get some more CRAPY singers like justin timberlake or just about all british singers. It's time for rock Like saliva, P.O.D, boyhitscar, union underground. The movies should stay away from tennie boppers like kylie and British singers so there you don't like me HEL (wait aminute that would be nearly everywhere except AMERICA)

I just started listening to a group called Incubus and they kick ***! They are pretty popular from what I've heard, but they're good too. I really don't care who performs the song, just as long as it's good.

Well I don't like him, but Robbie Williams would be a sound choice overall.
