In 1987, I went to the Royal Premiere of The Living Daylights in London. I sat three rows behind Prince Charles and Lady Diana and all the filmmakers and stars. Afterwards, I met Timothy Dalton and rode a limo through London. It was the greatest Bond opening night experience of my life.
Until 11.22.02. And it

My hangover has a bit of that "Korean prison" feel to it;)
Zencat, you are truly welcome. It was a blast right down to my last pint and farewell hug to Sonia.
I guess for the 50th anni. I'll have to take everyone to London.
The party did wind down nicely at the Casa....Including some company in the form of an exotic young lady in our group.
My night ended with my bow tie being untied for me and the lights were dimmed in my bedroom. A sip from a glass of Dom '90, and the soft smell of perfume.....and a beautiful (although equally dishelvled) woman asleep in my arms....at around 4:30am.....I recall thinking to myself,
"The end of the Die Another Day premiere, but John Bryce will return for Bond 21"
Thank you for the lovely review Zencat. Consider yourself on the "Bryce VIP list" for life;)
Quite a night. Compared to it, the Intl. Meetup should be a snap.

bryce seems to be THE MAN
alas, my dear wife told me to take off the tux (too much overkill from her perspective) before heading off for our "civilized" evening of fine dining and bond.

however, i did take the opportunity to play the title songs from LALD, FEYO, TSWLM, AVTAK, DAD and (appropriatley enough given the theme of the movie) DAF in my 1999 BMW 3 Series (sport package, titanium silver on black, snow tires for good measure) to set the mood before arriving at the restaurant for our 6:30 reservation and the 9:30 show.
nothing like your evening of good old james bonding...wish i had been there
who knows i just might have to make my way down to Southern Cal for bond 21 if i get to know u guys through these forums over the next 2-3 years;)
fingers crossed

I had been in a dentist's chair all day, hoping I'd make the 4:10 showtime. Low and behold, I did. I would have a blast if I went to a formal event like that decked out in a Tux. Although, I'd have to think of a decent alternative to a martini. I was thinking of doing that for the Saturday viewing with friends, but showing up in suits at Universal's Cineplex would have been slightly misplaced. They gave us cool Omega watch brocheures though, beautiful watch.

I have yet to confirm this, but we we're apparently "caught on tape" by a local news crew.
I'm still tracking this lead down.....

There apparently was a news crew covering some other story in Santa Monica on Friday who took note of our group arrival, but never followed up on us.
However, several people were shooting pics and video of the night. I should have the DVD's ready by January. Pics soon folks.
You'll see Bryce and Zencat decked out though.

On Friday, I was treated to 40 years of Bond.
This morning, all of you are treated to 35 years of Bryce. I'm ready for another 35 if not 70. Not a bad weekend.
Special notice goes out to our own lovely Xenobia who burned up the phone lines (and probably her long distance bill) with me for 3+ hours last night. Thank you my dear. It was grand. She gets special credit for being the first to sing "Happy Birthday" shortly after midnight (my time - which meant it was after 3am her time!) Thanks Luv! I hope you got some sleep.
Hope everyone has a great day....I know I am already;)

What?! No X-Ray Specs to go along with the attire? Only kidding. Excellent stuff, Bryce. I hope you do the same thing when we all get together in London.

You know, I never think I live on the wrong coast -- until I read this! Wow.
And zencat, my son and I stayed in our seats to see "James Bond Will Return." We were the last ones in the theater but we weren't going anywhere until we saw it. It's only right.
