It does seem as though momentum is now being built... as above let's hope for some swift official news!

One can wish. Very unlikely, though. But hey, stranger things have happened. Let´s do what Bond fans do: Hope.

It would make sense that there actually is momentum building if we get some sort of snippet of news in the next couple of weeks (after Marvel and Star Wars had their biggest impact).

If the rumour mill slows down again we will know that all this was just what in earlier times was relegated to small articles in magazines: speculation.

Hinx's fate is up in the air, IMO. If the writers want him back, he'll be back. If they don't, he'll stay dead. If Hinx came back he should definitely be disfigured in some way. Jaws was more of a cartoon but he came back after several certain death scenarios. It's not exactly unprecedented.

I would prefer him to stay dead, just because nobody can survive that kind of fate.

Me too. He also wasn't as memorable as Jaws for example, or even Oddjob.

The other reason I hope he is dead, is I like new henchmen for each movie.

You´re pointing to my big disappointment with Hinx - why did Mendes introduce such a menacing hitman only to hide his distinguishing feature (steel thumbs), underusing him just like Bellucci (or Marlohe in SF)?  Hinx should have been part of the third act, re-appearing there and creating a real obstacle for Bond to get to Blofeld.

I do love the way Hinx appears in the train car - but I would have preferred him not to get thrown out of the running train.  In fact, the moment he is done away with the tension goes out of the film, leaving Bond and Madeleine only the wimpy Blofeld and his faceless goons as opponents.  What a big mistake.

Also - hey, I´m getting warmed up here - why using a physical threat like Hinx in the snow chase in which he only gets to sit in a car and shoot (badly) at Bond?  Hinx was designed for close physical contact.  That´s why he should have appeared again and again like an unstoppable animal.  He should have been in Morocco, too, creating more tension in those dragged out hotel scenes - thereby making Bond clever in his continuing attempts to get rid of someone who can easily overpower him by sheer physical force.

Yes, he should have been like JAWS in TSWLM - with MooreBond always at risk but outsmarting him.

While most of us don't have the skill set to pen an actual screenplay, sometimes I do think it would be wise for EON to employ a couple of passionate and committed Bond fans in an advisory capacity. Their primary role could be to simply tell EON "that's a bad idea" when BB and MGW are on the verge of greenlighting something which could so easily be fixed (without completely overhauling the script).

Examples of things we fans could have "red flagged" if we were told in advance:

-stepbrother-gate

-unnecessarily bringing back the DB5 in SP

-portraying Bond as an old dog in SF, after he was just a rookie 00 in the previous two outings

-writing Bond into a corner at the end of SP (retiring with Madeline?)

-rushing the intro to Spectre and Blofeld (maybe a fan could have persuaded them to stick with Quantum)

-needlessly having Bond go rogue / retire / resign / be stripped of his licence in each of the past five films

I know this is a bit of a tangent, but what else would any of you add to this list?

My advice to them would be to ensure the script is sorted before filming starts.

Off topic, but i was just wondering why the threads in this Bond 25 section don't show up in the 'Latest Discussions' section on the front page. I've no problem navigating to this page, but it'd be nifty if they appeared on p.1

(note: not meant as a criticism - i love the site :)  )

Should this thread be merged with the "MGM 3-4 year gap" and "our ideas for Bond 25" threads, as we are discussing very similar things on each?

I´d advise that we keep these threads separate - since this one is actually about the news from MGM, the other one about our wishes for BOND 25.

This one is about the helicopter, not the MGM news.

Is this reliable?

Apparently Barbara Broccoli does not know when Bond 25 will be filming.

If that's the truth, then there's no way it can be released in 2018.
