I must admit: I have fallen out of love with Nolan´s work and therefore would be disappointed if this imdb-rumour did become true.

Somehow all of his movies I did love at first but rewatching them made me feel either bored (the Batman movies) or frustrated (INTERSTELLAR).

Every film of his is about one narrative gimmick which gets played out dutifully (and kind of predictably).

None of his films is fun.  There is no uplifting humour.  The score drones so loudly that it overpowers everything.

This is not what I would like to see in a Bond film.

I don't know. The thought of Nolan doing a Bond movie right now (after Mendes and SP, with all the baggage, as the final Craig entry, having to maybe tie up all the loose ends) seems unlikely to me.

The timing would never be better. Their schedules are aligned. Nolan has just done too heavy films and likely wants to do something fun. From EON's POV, Nolan is a safe bet. There has been plenty of time to negotiate and there is plenty of time to develop the film.

SPECTRE resolved everything about the Craig era up until point. Nolan has freedom to essentially make the film he wants to make, picking and choosing only the elements he wants to keep.

I also imagine that working with Nolan likely appeals to Craig, who has been hemming and hawing since SPECTRE came out and has no doubt wanted a strong reason to return.

I hope that is wrong. The Dark Knight is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

It's my favourite movie ever.

Interesting trivia note - Nolan can direct whatever he wants without Syncopy, but Syncopy is a WB owned production company so can't produce work without them, so before we get into the same debate on Nolan's work that can be found several times throughout this forum (I love, but that's subjective), if Syncopy is co-producing, then Warner Brothers won that pitching session.

Well, if WB is the studio, I'd prefer for Bond 25 to be directed by Tex Avery.

If so...very odd in various ways. Sony is after all a proven quantity with Eon and MGM. Eon is not known for being overly enthusiastic on co-productions, Warner is not at the moment in the best of spirits with expectations for their DC films running much higher than the product itself, Nolan is known for keeping his projects inside his own bubble...

I remain sceptical about this, but perhaps as a way to get a foot inside the door for BOND 2X+ it's possible they are prepared to spend more on the budget than Sony was willing to shell out.

So this is how that rumour started: http://birthmoviesde...ing-bond-25-5-4

I believe this is just imdb.com doubling down in order to defend their paywall-coverage.

I'm mostly wondering who pays to troll when they could do it for free in numerous other places and get the same result.

It could be somebody who's signed up there anyway. Need not be somebody who just spent money on a prank.

IMDBPro has disassociated Syncopy and BOND 25, so it was probably all much ado about nothin'!

But fun to speculate!

Also, a side note that proves someone IS that desperate to troll - the credit below is definitly bollocks, Ubisoft produce films of their games thenselves in partnership with 20th century fox - a partnership that sees the studio get the vast majority of the profit. There is no way in hell that either ubisoft or fox would agree to another production company. Some troll has made that up because of Tom Hardy, who IS attached to the film, has a working relationship with Nolan.

You can't add to pro anonymously like the normal one, basically to stop people doing this, so imdb's mods will know EXACTLY who added that.

But since even professionals use passwords like "honey1234" it's perfectly possible a pro account has been hacked.

Didn't Nolan go on record of being interested in a Bond film only if with a new actor and set in the 60's?

Nolan has never said what he'd do with a Bond film, just he'd discussed it with EON but they could never make dates work amd they didnt need him at that moment anyway given they had a director in Sam Mendes. It was Tarantino said about going period as i recall.

Honestly, I found it anxiety inducing.

The McGuigan rumors seemed like an interesting development (although I'd never heard of him before), but Nolan was the exact opposite of what I want for Bond 25.

The McGuigan rumour always made much more sense and probably will end up as true.

I´d say: he is definitely on the shortlist.

McGuigan and Nolan both sounded plausible in their own way, the former as an embodiment of the "classic" EON family ethos, and the latter as a continuation of the Craig-era trajectory.

The rumors surrounding the former have seemingly more legitimate origins than the rumors surrounding the latter, however.

I agree. Right now the McGuigan rumour seem to have more credence; i'd put his odds for 25 at evens.  But  in the long term i'd say Nolan is a sure bet.

It makes more sense for Nolan to want to start afresh with a new Bond in the 26th. The only thing that gives me cause to suspect he might be attracted to B25 is the OHMSS angle the current narrative would appear to be headed in and OHMSS is Nolan's favourite Bond movie.

Apparently, McGuigan almost directed Casino Royale. So he's been on the shortlist for a while now.

Good point. The only thing that makes me wonder if that will happen, is the possibility that EON will aim for a lighter, breezier tone with Bond 7 - and that's not exactly Nolan's area, is it?

That's really interesting, I didn't know that. Thanks!

(For anyone interested, here's the quote and link:

So, too, he aims one day to stamp his mark on the James Bond franchise, having come close to directing Daniel Craig in his debut as 007. “I was down to the last two for Casino Royale,” he says. “Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson [the producers] had asked if I would be interested, and I’ve always been a major fan of Bond. But I think because they were bringing in a new Bond, they didn’t want another unknown factor in me. I still haven’t given up on that dream. I’ve given up on the dream of scoring the winning goal for Celtic in the European Cup final, but Bond is one thing I want to try and achieve.”

I very much like the idea of Nolan doing Bond but I think it would be better to have him start with a new actor. If it were me, I would be into giving him a 2 or 3 picture deal and let him develop his own version of Bond. But I am a Nolan fan... others are not and that's ok. I also acknowledge that Eon does not strike me as the type of producers that would likely do a 2-3 picture deal with Nolan or give him the creative control he likely would want.

Which was why I was careful not to make my view sound like a fact, as I know many people like it. I'm glad you do too. Personally, I found it bloated, depressing, dull, pretentious, meandering, disjointed, illogical and ridiculous. Opinions are funny things. My best friend is a big Nolan fan and he loves that film too, though he does say it makes him feel very depressed. The incongruity of that has always confused me.

And back then Paul Bettany was McGuigan's muse. Could've been very different.
