As long as someone never comes up with a way to erase AVTAK, DAD, DAF, TMWTGG, TND or TWINE from existence, SPECTRE could never slip into my bottom five.
Now that you have seen it, where does SPECTRE rank for you?

I saw it on Friday. For me it ranks behind Skyfall and Casino Royale.
It sits at 9 in my current top 10 and for context, I have Quantum of Solace at 14. I doubt it will move down in my list but I won't be shocked if I move it up after subsequent viewings.
1. From Russia with Love
2. Goldfinger
3. Skyfall
4. Casino Royale
5. For Your Eyes Only
6. Thunderball
7. Dr. No
8. Goldeneye
9. Spectre
10. The Living Daylights

Of the Craig films, I'd rate it like this:
1. Casino Royale
2. Spectre
3. Skyfall
4. Quantum of Solace
2 and 3 are close, but my initial feeling is that I liked Spectre more.

I would say that Spectre is the more fun film, but Skyfall is the better film overall. It's like the Batman series. I would argue Batman and Batman Returns are the more fun, less grim films. However, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight (I know I'm in the minority, but I still prefer Batman Begins to TDK) are by far the better movies.

I think Batman Begins is the best Nolan film too, seawolfnyy
Was waiting to see SP twice, and now have, so here's my ranking:
1. Casino Royale
2. SkyFall
3. Quantum Of Solace
4. Spectre
Neither SP nor QoS make it into my top 10. I'm afraid SP is just too confused and downright dull for me to ever love it.

I've seen the film twice now. The first viewing was exhilarating, the second viewing was familiar and comfortable, like it was already a classic Bond film I've watched a dozen times. It doesn't have quite the same dramatic stakes as CR or SF but it has a lot more fun elements which distinguish it from the other Craig films despite trying up loose ends from the other films. My ranking right now stands as this
Out of ****
1. Skyfall ****
2. Casino Royale ****
3. Spectre ***1/2
4. Quantum of Solace ***
Even though QoS is at the bottom I feel it's an underrated film that's tight and to the point. It's shorter running time makes it a very efficient and enjoyable counterpoint compared to Craig's Bond epics.

It's only been 48 hours and I really need to see it again to form a decent impression. Right now, I'm leaning toward it being Craig's 2nd best. Better than QOS for sure (although this film does its best to try and redeem that beautiful mess of a film). I do not think it is a better film overall than SF, although it may be a better Bond film if you catch my drift. It just seems to be a bit less pretentious and self-important than SF at this point.
It also seems that CR will be my untouchable favorite forever by now.

1. QOS: this is still my second favorite Bond film behind OHMSS, hardly a misstep in it.
2. SP: a good blend of Bond stuff for Craig, and oddly the least personal of his films despite the big reveal.
3. CR: lots of nice things happen in this one even if the love story gets snagged on poor casting (sorry Eva, you just don't do Vesper for me at all).
4. SF: dislike the plot - just kill her already if you hate her so much (that SP downplayed this story aspect is why it works better for me).
I greatly appreciate so many parts of each film, I'll definitely miss Craig in the role when he steps down, he seems to elevate everyone's game.

I have been pretty hard on Spectre; but honestly it is growing on me the more I watch it! Really looking forward to watching it again this weekend.
If Bond 25 has a follow up story to Spectre, it could actually raise the stock of the movie even more.
I'm reflecting more on the Craig era Bonds, all in my top four (because of DC, hands down my favorite ever); in terms of which one ranks where.
Casino: absolute undisputed champ---best movie I've ever seen, and it's not even close. I have seen it 112 times (yes, I've kept count
Skyfall: Great film from start to finish. Excellent villain. Unexpected and historic ending. Didn't like the Macau Casino scene, seemed too campy and Mooreish. Bond's expressions and jumping the dragons...not for me. The henchman trying to use his gun, "good luck with that." Also wanted to see Bond vs. Silva in a classic hand-to-hand combat scene. You start to see Moore influence peeping in (like Bond jumping on the subway train).
QOS: PTS is absolutely awesome. No foolishness or camp---at all Bond elevator and escape scene, fabulous, this is Bond! Jackson scene is brutal, Mr. White is always awesome. D. Greene, believable and realistic. My big problem with QOS is the end scene. VERY disappointed he didn't wax Yusef and a final showdown with Mr. White to conclude the events of Casino. Also, he needed a stronger henchman to go up against. I really liked Quantum, no doubt. I'm talking myself into rating this higher : )
Spectre: I like it better the more I think about it. It's really growing on me. I would change the nature of the car chase, too much camp for me in too many parts (prefer the Bond demeanor of CR and QOS). Craig can pull off the extra humor, I don't know how but he does, brilliant actor. Oberhauser is fantastic, and could be the best villain ever if developed in Bond 25/ Hinx is the most physical challenge to Bond; first time he's run up on a foe with this kind of physicality. He is a scary dude! I'm not crazy about the resolution of Bond at the end of the film. His "duty" as a OO is his life; he can fight it and struggle with it, but it makes him who he is. PTS is amazing, and the theme song has grown on me a ton! Really enjoyed Mr. White, but again, wanted to see Bond vs. White have it out, spy vs. spy, battle to the finish. Train fight: among best fight scenes eve for me. Spectre meeting was really intriguing. As I said earlier, Bond 25 could elevate it, depending on how it plays out. Lair fight/exchange was exciting.
Based on what I've said, can you guys help me rate them? lol I know it's an odd question. I'm pretty torn on how to go here. CR #1, but the rest? Not sure!

For me it's #7 overall. Third best of Craig's, but the bar is really high:
1. From Russia With Love
2. Goldfinger
3. Casino Royale
4. SkyFall
5. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
6. The Spy Who Loved Me
7. Spectre
8. GoldenEye
9. Thunderball
10. Dr. No
11. You Only Live Twice
12. For Your Eyes Only
13. Moonraker
14. Octopussy
15. The World Is Not Enough
16. Live and Let Die
17. Tomorrow Never Dies
18. Quantum of Solace
19. The Living Daylights
20. Diamonds are Forever
21. The Man with the Golden Gun
22. A View to a Kill
23. Licence to Kill
24. Die Another Day
(I sort of break them into tiers, which is what the spaces between lines mean.)

Definitely Craig's second best after CR. Better than QoS and much much better than SF.
When compared to other actors, it is Craig's GF, OP, DAD.
Not the best film for each of them but the one where hé plays the role at the best with confidence and charm

I tend to reassess as time goes on, but the one consistent is that Daniel Craig is my favourite James Bond and Casino Royale is my number one Bond film. These are how I'd rate the recent ones based on my latest viewings:
1. Casino Royale
2. Spectre
3. Quantum of Solace
4. Skyfall
These are four quality films and I hope Craig has one or two more in him.

Finally saw SPECTRE today at 10am. I had a great time with the movie, and it would automatically be in my top tier.
An easy 8 or 9/10. More to come.

It was definitely my favourite Daniel Craig film so far. I actually think it it makes my top 5. Biggest criticism for me is that with Cristoph Waltz they had someone so good at playing the bad guy, and I don't think they made his character as scary/evil as they could have done. Still a great film though.

It was definitely my favourite Daniel Craig film so far.
The PTS, meeting M, Q and Moneypenny, seducing Lucia, attending the meeting and escaping in the DB10 - that's probably the most fun I've ever had with the Craig era. I really enjoyed the tone they struck. Bond kicked people out of helicopters, shot numerous thugs and thew an Italian bouncer onto a hard table with a crashing thud. He's as brutal as ever, in other words. But he had that flippant aloofness. "Good evening" after ejecting from the DB10. Leaving champagne behind for Q after stealing the DB10. Waving at the lone assassin after the funeral. And so on. I love all that stuff.
The meeting with White was good, too. It's one of the film's central plot points, and is suitably atmospheric. The enjoyable pace continues when the snow plane sequence kicks in, and we don't have too wait long. I'm less fond of the L'Americain sections as I find them just a bit too languid. But once Bond and Madeleine board the train it's again another good stretch of film. The little moment with the gun, and the brief chat over dinner. And the Hinx fight of course speaks for itself. Easily one of my favourite parts in the movie - the love scene worked for me too. It actually received a laugh from both screenings I attended, and for the right reasons.
Onto the next scene, and I love it how Bond gives a detailed description of the Silver Wraith as it approaches, ala the know it all Moore Bond. I've said it before, but I absolutely ate up this desert lair sequence. I love the pleasant facade Bond is greeted with, and how he goes along with it. That hasn't been in a Bond film so long. Placing the gun on the tray, being offered drinks and being shown to his room. Classic Bond indeed. Meeting Blofeld in the dark room, with the meteorite, definitely gives me a Doctor No vibe. I was pleasantly surprised.
The torture sequence isn't better than CR's, but nonetheless, I admire the idea. The gadget use here also gets my thumbs up. An exploding watch isn't outlandish - it fits the Craig era mould, and its use had to be earned. And it really was a 'to the second' escape before Bond was a goner.
The escape from the lair is simple. Bond grabs a gun, casually shoots the guards, triggers an explosion and files off in a helicopter. It's Craig's moment to be the machine gunning Brosnan. I would've filmed this scene a tad differently, perhaps. But that's not a deal breaker. SPECTRE for the most part portrays a Bond on the front foot, in his prime. He's in a world of pain while strapped to the torture chair. But for the most part he's seeking out the bad guys and putting them to justice with confidence.
The London finale would be my least favourite of the film. But that said, I don't have an issue with Bond sparing Blofeld or leaving with Madeleine. From my perspective, when SPECTRE is on song, its as good as anything else in the Craig era. When it's treading water in parts, it's not terrible. And if you don't really have to wait too long before another good stretch of film begins.
Bond meeting Q and driving off in the DB5 couldn't help but make me smile. I think it was the right ending. The entire film made a point about Bond being elusive and secretive, with Q hiding his current location. And he's happy to go along with it one last time. Because the Bond of SPECTRE is presented as the loveable rogue, and I think that charm comes across in these final few moments.

I need to see the movie a few more times, but as it stands right now:
1. SKYFALL
2. CASINO ROYALE
3. SPECTRE
4. QUANTUM OF SOLACE
Keep in mind, I really enjoy QOS, so all in all I've been completely satisfied and impressed by Craig's era.

Agreed. I think SPECTRE is better than the two Dalton films (which I do respect) and anything from the Brosnan era.

I had this thought yesterday, what if SPECTRE came before Skyfall? SPECTRE just feels like a fun anniversary movie, with all its callbacks to others in the franchise. I wonder if the criticisms would still be as harsh. It's so refreshing after the CR/QoS story, and a return to Bond formula. It seems SPECTRE suffers more for having succeeded Skyfall. "It's terrible, it's a disaster, it's...the second highest grossing Bond movie opening."

2)Goldeneye
3)Goldfinger or From Russia With Love
4)SPECTRE or Skyfall
Honestly after a few years I started falling in love with Goldfinger and FRWL the more I think about it. But SPECTRE is definitely up there in my top 5

My fiancé (not a super big Bond fan) likes the Craig films but really likes QOS (just one more reason to love her, lol), and feels SP is a great followup to QOS and that SF is an unnecessary film: ignores the mystery organization CR and QOS introduces, has a lame villain plot, and Craig is too dour in it.I had this thought yesterday, what if SPECTRE came before Skyfall? CR, QOS, and SP do make a pretty neat Blofeld trilogy, IMHO.
