To start, I'll bring to the table that Len Wiseman and Fox look set to make a "sequel/prequel" with 'Die Hard 6'. Possibly going down the 'Die Hard: Year One' graphic novel route showing McClane as a rookie NYPD cop in the late 70s who finds himself in the wrong place at the blah blah blah.
http://deadline.com/...uel-1201582142/
Willis is set to appear as "old" John, and so I guess that's our sequel, and a new actor playing "young" John. JGL anyone?
But as the origin of McClane in many eyes has been done, with 'Die Hard', turning average cop into unlikely action hero, I think this is totally unnecessary and will realistically leave no room for more sequels, unless they milk the young-McClane cash cow.

The thing about John McClane in the first film was that he was an ordinary guy caught up in extraordinary situation. Now if it turns out these things have been happening to him since he was a boy, then that just makes him the Unluckiest Bloke In The World - not sure I want to watch a film about that guy.

Nakatomi made him shine. I don't want to see him take the novelty of that with an origin, or make him look inepet as he "becomes" McClane - what is this? 'Die Hard Royale' or 'McClane Begins'?

I don´t like this idea either. And if they actually have to go down that route - why have Willis-scenes as a framing device? They will make it painfully obvious that there is only one John McClane.

You know when you just look at a bunch of movies and think "This should never have became a film series?'. The first Die Hard is a cold hard classic. Nothing since has lived up to that. I stopped at four and after the awful things I heard about the fifth one and now, hearing confirmation of another semi/gritty reboot or whatever you want to call it doesn't give me high hopes at all. ANOTHER reboot? I thought that stopped being the normality around 5 years ago?

Don't care much for this new idea of a rebooted kinda of Die Hard.
I read Shane Black (Iron Man 3) will be co writting and directing a new Predator film which I'm all for.

Read they put ALIEN 5 on hold since they are making ALIEN: PARADISE LOST (PROMETHEUS 2).
Never really got into the Alien films but liked the Predator series. I think they should do another AvP.

Going by Ridley's current streak post-Prometheus (he's 3 for 3 in my opinion with The Counselor, Exodus: Gods and Kings, and The Martian), I'm excited about Alien: Paradise Lost. Mainly since Damon Lindelof has zero involvement whatsoever.
As for Alien 5, I was excited when it was announced with Neill Blomkamp at the helm, but that was before Chappie came out. After that, I really don't want him touching Alien, or at least writing. Not to mention, he really didn't do anything to earn the job either, except post fan art on instagram which was apparently enough for Fox (and fans). Blomkamp's really just been getting by with "From the director of District 9", so with Alien 5 on hold indefinitely and him saying he's not attached to it, hopefully Fox can fully work with Ridley on the Prometheus sequel(s). And when the time is right for Alien 5, hopefully they choose the right man for the job (provided Blomkamp moves on to other things, which I hope.)
As for Die Hard, the original is an action masterpiece and it always should've stayed one film. Or at least one sequel being Die Hard with a Vengeance.

Didn't like Black's Iron Man 3 (hated it in fact), but I do like the majority of his work and he's a great writer (Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang is fantastic!). He did do rewrites for the original Predator and he's doing the story with Fred Dekker (collaborated on The Monster Squad) with Dekker penning the script. I hope the project comes together smoothly and soon because I think those two can really knock it out of the park and create a great installment. I do wish it was a sequel to the Robert Rodriguez produced Predators since I loved a lot of things that film had such as the game reserve and different alien species on it.
I think Shane Black and Fred Dekker can definitely do a new Predator that will be just as action packed and horrifying as the original but for a new generation.

Iron Man 3 is the biggest missed opportunity of the entirety of Marvel movies. The film started out very promising with The Mandarin coming across as very menacing and Stark at a loss, but then completely blew it with that twist. Ruining The Mandarin in the way that they did would be like Darth Vader being in The Force Awakens, only to find out that Darth Vader doesn't actually exist. It turned Iron Man's (and one of the Marvel universe's) greatest enemy into a punchline. That, for me, is the problem with Iron Man 3 and how Shane Black didn't recognize it, I'll never know.

Thanks for sharing, I generally agree about Iron Man 3 and Shane Black.
A Robert Rodriguez produced Predators sequel would have been welcome.
I'm just happy they are doing a sequel and not rebooting Predator series.
What they are saying about it makes me think it might be about a government agency that has been secretly fighting the Predators for years, like those guys in Predator 2 who were tracking them.
If that is the case they could reference all the films, bring back characters, etc. I think it would tie it all together nicely.

I don't think Rodriguez will be involved since he's working with James Cameron on Battle Angel, but I hope some of the aspects he introduced in Predators are retained.
I'm not sure what the setting or plot will be, but each of the films were different, so I hope this one is too.

First trailer for Avengers 2.5....I mean, Captain America: Civil War.

I'm surprised at how good it actually looks. It's still Avengers 2.5, but I may check this out.

I agree. I'm skeptical though. The Avengers: AoU trailers were insane and the film itself, turned out less so. That said, The Winter Soldier is probably one of the three best Marvel films, so I'm optimistic about Civil War. Also, it looks better than Batman v Superman.

Like you say tdalton - same as every other Marvel film. Lots of talking, lots of CGI fights and a dark tone that will never come across in the final piece. I reckon we've had all the best bits in the trailer, not that I'm going to watch it until many months and months down the line. Looks very light on actual narrative apart from men in suits and guns running around and fighting. Is that what this Civil War is then?

I must disagree, gentlemen.
I enjoy the Marvel flicks a lot, and especially the CAPTAIN AMERICA series has done very well. This trailer intrigues me, since it actually creates a tragic tension between two former friends.
And the "light on narrative, men in suits and guns running around and fighting"-argument... um, wouldn´t that apply to other franchises as well?

It probably does, but Marvel seems to just be getting lazy now. 'Ant-Man' for example, featured our hero in a suit fighting CGI villain in a suit whilst also battling guys with guns.
When are heroes ever going to be allowed to be just heroes without both sides of good and evil trying to fight / kill them? It's been done and I just feel this trailer gives us literally nothing new except the "wow look" moment of Iron Man and Cap in a fight. That's got to wear of quickly, hasn't it? It didn't seem very ambitious for what I was expecting...but then I know very little of the 'Civil War' plot so maybe I expect something totally different!

Maybe it´s just not for you.
I loved ANT-MAN, and I think the two allies fighting each other in CIVIL WAR will be very interesting. More than Bond fighting his step-brother, I´m afraid.

I doubt that it would take much effort to make something more interesting than that, although I do suppose that watching Bond actually ripoff Austin Powers probably does make for at least a slightly humorous, if quickly passing, moment.
Like thecasinoroyale already stated, these Marvel films all pretty much look and feel the same at this point. As far as I'm concerned, the only truly good film that they've made is Iron Man, the film that pretty much kicked off all of this nonsense. It's all gone steadily downhill from that point.

It's not just "Oh look, Iron Man vs. Captain America!" it's the Civil War story line from the comics. The Superhero registration act that's ultimately the backbone of this film and of what was shown, it looks really well done -- better looking than The Winter Soldier honestly.
Perhaps you should look into the comic story line though (if you were to bother doing so that is).
I feel this could be Marvel's strongest film to date.

I agree, Ace. As I said above, I'm cautiously optimistic about Civil War after the let down of Avengers 2. However, for the most part, the Captain America films have been the best of the Marvel films by far. The Winter Soldier is arguably the best Marvel film since Iron Man. Also, while yes Marvel could've just made this another straight Avengers movie, I like that they are sort of doing it from Cap's perspective. I'm excited for this one.

Gotta agree with SecretAgentFan and seawolfnyy here. Really pumped about this preview. Winter Soldier did the surveillance story better than SPECTRE. It could be that Civil War will do the "brother" story better as well. Captain America's story might end up being the best trilogy from the MCU. Actually it could cap conclude two of their trilogies.

In addition to the films in the MCU, I must say, that Jessica Jones is quite possibly the best the MCU has offered yet. That's saying something when put up with Daredevil, Iron Man, The Avengers (the first one) and the Captain America films. Krysten Ritter is excellent and honestly, I don't know the last time there has been such a likably evil villain as Kilgrave (played perfectly by David Tennant I might add). I would love to see him team up with Loki.
On a side note, who also wouldn't love to see David Tennant as a villain in a Bond film?
