Not meaning to be argumentative, but if this is now the official stance of the website, then maybe a change in the site's favicon icon should be in order?

Also, for those that are wondering how to change avatars, choose the Gravatar option when you try to change your avatar and then upload the image you want to the Gravatar website and it'll work here as your avatar.

This is not now the official stance of CBn - it's always been our aim to avoid a brandishing of arms solely for purposes of 'gun porn'. The arm itself, in the context of Bond, of thrillers, genre literature and other related themes is in my view not problematic, though that may vary from case to case. But just the gun, without any other element to relate it? I think that's more stuff for the Guns & Ammo website. And it's not as if one was limited in one's options as regards 007, there must be several thousand possible alternatives to 'just' the gun.

But I admit it would be a vast field for discussion.

Thank you, Dustin, for being reasonable, measured and sensitive again.

And to clear it up for everybody else: I never said that I prohibit the use of that avatar - I only said that I do not feel comfortable with it and asked the particular member to choose something else.  While I belong to the moderator branch I did not speak on behalf of it, I just voiced my opinion.  And I would have rather discussed it with that particular member.  But that guy immediately chose to be insulted - and insulted the whole board right back.  Which leads me to believe that a firearm in any form should not be available to him.

Again - this is just my personal opinion.

Which I happen to share.

But the case of the firearm aside, how is it that a sensible request to try and find another avatar now already proves too much for a prospective guest of CBn? I'm not sure this kind of approach was often seen in former times, was it?

Anyway...
