Airplane is probably (definitely) one of the best comedy "spoof" ever conceived. From a short exchange on the SPECTRE board, I can see than I am not alone in being a huge fan of the original, as well as the lesser (yet still great) follow up. I thought I'd start a thread for fans to gush their love and appreciation onto this unique and sensational movie... If you worry about replying to my thread, I just want to tell you good luck. We're all counting on you.

... And on an unrelated note, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

Flying High 2, I think.

I notice that it is also called Flying High in South Africa, Japan and the Philippines.

I realised this when, arriving in Australia as a Brit, I asked people if they liked Airplane and they didn't know what I was talking about. I think the only reason for the name change was that they're called Aeroplanes in Australia, and also for those who weren't familiar with the Airport disaster movies of the 1970's.

I'm so proud to have been a part of creating this wonderful idea of a thread! Airplane! was on constantly at my house in junior high and high school - my senior class even did a skit about our new football coach being Ted Striker, having to save our season (plane) from crashing and falling apart!

"What kind of plane is it?"

"Oh, it's a big, pretty, white plane with... red stripes... curtains in the windows and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol!"

Elaine Dickinson: Ladies and gentlemen, this is your stewardess speaking... We're regret any inconvenience the sudden cabin movement might have caused, this is due to periodic air pockets we encountered, there's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you enjoy the rest of your flight... By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

[cabin's hell breaks loose]

God bless IMDB's Airplane and Airplane II Quotes pages.. :)

The white zone is for loading and unloading of passengers only. There is no unloading in a red zone.

I've only seen 'Airplane' once, and never seen the sequel. However that fight sequence always sticks in my head; brilliant!

I think I'll have to give them both another shot.

tcr, I sentence you to sit next to Ted Striker on a trans-Atlantic flight and be forced to listen to his mundane stories!

Johnny is my spirit animal :D And I can't tell you how many times in my life I've used "And Leon's getting laaaaaaaaarger!" as a response in conversation! That might be my favorite movie line ever
