Even though Skyfall was also а 7 letter word beginning with an S, it was easy to make an acronym, because it's actually two words - Sky and Fall, hence SF.

But SPECTRE is an acronym in itself. So, is it S? Or do we use it in full form, which will make it one letter longer tham TMWTGG.

I'm not sure that it can be shortened.  I think it'll just have to be known as SPECTRE.

Yeah, there's not really any wiggle room. SPECTRE it is.

You'd think that Babs and Michael would spare a thought for us here before choosing their titles!

I'd have no problem shorting it to just '' for the forums... No real point though.

Wasn't he in the background reading a newspaper dressed as a Russian general?

Oh, I bet they do. I can see it now.

During a recent meeting at Eon offices: "...and the best thing about this title: just imagine all those guys in those forum, discussing what acronym they're going to use for something that already is an acronym." :D

I'm fine with SPECTRE. If need really be, I may go with SPEC (saves three whole letters, that's something).

Hmm.

People may laugh but it's an important question, honestly, for fans I think...for me anyway.

So we have....'GF'. 'TB', 'MR', 'OP', 'GE' and 'SF'.... all two syllables....

Spec-Tre.

I guess, it's gonna be 'ST' if you follow the "rules"! :P

Or probably just 'SPC', something like that.

Damn you EON, didn't you think! :D

Are we sure that this SPECTRE (Spectre) is an acronym? Maybe in the movie it's simply a name (eg. of a company or foundation)?

That is a good point.

But don't say that too loud. It really confuses reboot fans.

The octopus image forming from the gunshot heavily implies it's the same concept.

Concept may be the same, but it doesn't mean that this SPECTRE couldn't simply be.. Spectre, not SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion abbreviation. Personally, I see no contradiction. Anyway, it's just a thought on whether we should shorten the title. I'm fine with SP also, by the way. But we can't be sure until some solid rumour about the plot leaks.

If the capitalised title is legit, which it seems to be, I'd wager the same abbreviation from Doctor No holds true.

Mendes and Craig both confirmed yesterday that SPECTRE refers to the same organisation as the earlier films, so I'd say it must be an acronym.

As soon as the new Aston was unveiled, he took a look at the wine he was drinking, did a double-take at the car, and then left. :D

I don't think we're going to abbreviate SPECTRE any further, guys - we should just be glad EoN decided to not go with the un-acronymed version of the title, eh?

I say no shortening - It doesn't need it SPECTRE is good - it's only seven letters as it is, it's not like OHMSS, TSWLM, TWINE, TMWTGG etc - heck shortening Skyfall to SF is pretty pointless... It's like, say, shortening Dr. No to DN - why is it needed?
