ANOTHER injury on the set of SPECTRE! This time long-time second unit director, Terry Madden suffered multiple fractures when a camera truck veered off the road and crashed into a barn. Here's hoping he'll make a full recovery quickly!

That sounds like a particularly bad accident.

Let's hope Terry Madden makes a speedy recovery.

Am sure all these types of hiccups have existed in all movie making instances since the dawn of time.

I agree 100%. For me it's like one thing after another and just waiting for what else will happen next.

Well, my point is to Not wait for what will happen next as these happenstances are a regular occurence.  The only difference being that we, the audience, in this internet age, are now privy to all these things whereas in the past, we were in blissful ignorance.

I do thank the deities that Thunderball is not being made in this day and age.  What a knee-jerking field day the internet would have with that one...

More details (in German) on the accident in Austria. Three people injured, two of them seriously.

Oh dear! Didn't realize that it was more than Terry Madden who got injured. Sadly accidents have been a common thing on Bond films over the years such as Martin Grace's train accident on Octopussy and the bobsled that overturned and killed one of the riders on FYEO..

There was a bad accident during the filming of the Quantum of Solace car chase as well. I attended a Q&A panel where Ottaviano Dell'Acqua was a guest, I believe he was the head of the stunt crew for that sequence. He was very upset about it all and unhappy with how the chase was edited in the finished film.

I hope Madden and all involved will make quick, full recoveries.

Yes, from what we knew about the filming and what was shot for the QoS chase, there did appear to be very little left in the final edit to showcase all that hardship.

Mind you, the same could be said about the beautiful shots gained from the ice lake chase for DAD, in that the balletic nature of all that effort went in favour of a shoot 'em out effort.  And this last was in spite of Lee Tamahori saying as part of the DVD documentary that he specifically did not want the chase to be about gadgets, but about driving.

Oh well.  Best efforts 'n' all...

One would normally expect that a plane needs to fly rather fast in order to stay up in the air. But it's one of this plane's specialties that it is able to fly much slower and deeper than other ones, much like the legendary Fieseler Storch, so it may look a bit "unreal" as one would expect it to drop down any moment.

Take a look at his Instagram account, especially this photo. Does this mean we'll get some night shots of the Austrian alps?

So turns out this whole chase sequence clocks in at..

Spoiler

According to the Snow Consultant, Stefan Zürcher.

Amazing news. I'm really hoping this whole set piece can rival the GoldenEye Tank Chase. Which clocks in at 4 and a half minutes. Please EON give Craig what he deserves. An unflinching fearless in your face Bond chase. Music blasting and all! Make it so!!

Also one of the Art Directors mentioned that the chase was originally set to extend into a chase through the village on Skidoos, that would conclude with a showdown on a dam. But waterlevels were uncertain so it didn't happen unfortunately.

Yes this put me in mind of the tank chase also... fingers crossed, DamnCoffee.

I remember leaving the cinema on first seeing Skyfall and thinking to myself, 'You know what that film was missing? A tank chase.' Hopefully some of the ridiculousness that I love about Bond has wormed its way back for Spectre.

Excellent!

The last good chase Craig had was the 2.30 mins pre-title chase opening 'Quantum Of Solace' I think. It's been 2 movies and 7 years in the making to let him go mental in a good chase! Or two or three in 'SPECTRE' hopefully. :)
