From Instagram, it seems that the 3 of them were traveling to Morocco, Rome and Austria on a private jet. Which fits nicely in with the Rome story that I posted today and adds Morocco and Austria to the possible locations.

It's very interesting to see that at Gary Powell's Instagram page all the photos involving him, Alexander Witt and Callum McDougall on the private jet (together with any mention of Rome, Morocco and Austria in the feedback) has been removed since yesterday.

Mr. Powell has just removed the photos from his Instagram feed.

Yes, Matt, I agree.
I think the photos and all mention of Rome, Morocco and Austria being so quickly removed once people had put 2 and 2 together, says a lot.
I noticed that it was all over Twitter by yesterday evening.

That's great. (I mean, the removing)
I still had my doubts, but that's as much as an official statement.

It feels like Austria means a snow based sequence, as one is overdue and that would be the best fit.
Morocco also seems to be the go-to location for any Middle Eastern or Central Asian country these days, so there are many possibilities for where it may actually portray (Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, etc.)
Of course, both Austria and Italy were used as recently as QUANTUM OF SOLACE, so I'm sure the producers will be seeking to make significantly different uses of the two countries this time around.

I think we will get some action on the snow this time. Morocco, Italy and Austria have all very diverse landscapes. I must say I am intrigued!

Our old friend Baz Bamigboye dropped this cryptic remark into his column a few months back when talking about Bond 24.
"Director Sam Mendes recently took his first [skiing holiday] Perhaps he picked up some stunt ideas on the slopes and wants to use them . . ."
One of his sources could well have dropped a hint, and in turn he's passing the hint on.

No surprise there. As you film industry types already know when production companies shoot a movie in a foreign location they want to take advantage of that country's tax credit system. But to do that they gotta hire a certain number of people from that country's film industry.
Besides, it'll be 13 years since Bond's been to a snowy location. Remember when from the late 1970's onwards when it was every other film? By the Brosnan era it was every single film having a snowy location.

The other site reports that the producers originally hoped to film in the Norwegian island group Svalbard, but switched to Austria due to a script rewrite and the fact it was more financially viable. Austria definitely being used for something snow-based then.
Norway would, of course, also have tied in with the search for a Scandinavian actress.

One of the things that I find interesting about his is that filmmaker and film facilitator Jason Roberts was commissioned by Eon to provide visual material of Svalbard and places in Norway that could double for Svalbard.
Roberts has now been informed that Bond 24 will film in Austria and this is possibly due to the re-writes. I can't help but think that the "due to rewrites" bit in reports is down to speculation.
From what I have read, it seems as if a very small amount may still be shot in Norway. But this is yet to be confirmed.
I can't help but be remind of Scotland and to some extent China on Skyfall.
Could a few "money shots" be done on the Svalbard Islands and the the bulk of the snow based action be shot in the more cost effective Austria?
Think of the the way that Azerbaijan was portrayed in TWINE, a few second unit shots actually there, the rest shot in Spain.
I think it might be telling that from the start they were looking for images of Svalbard and places that could double for Svalbard.
They have put a lot of effort into casting a Scandinavian actress with many Norwegian actresses seen. Of course everything might have changes since the Purvis and Wade "substantially different" re-draft, but I think it is worth considering that the Austrian ski slops are standing in for Svalbard.

So Gary Powell, Alexander Witt and Callum McDougall? These names don't ring a bell are they on the production team for Bond 24?

Didn't they shoot part of the DAD car chase on Svalbard?

They do craft service and can make a mean pastrami sandwich.
Actually, Witt is the 2nd unit director & DOP. McDougall is a unit production manager and presumably executive producer. Powell is a stunt co-ordinator and 2nd unit director.

Gary Powell has been involved with stunts going back as far as Goldeneye, I think (his uncle and father go way back to the early Bonds).. Alex Witt was 2nd unit director on Casino Royale and Skyfall, Callum McDougall has been an assistant director / production manager starting back with The Living Daylights.

A bit more about Austria. A lot of the Austrian press are hearing rumours concerning Bond 24 filming in Obertilliach & Sölden (with Daniel Craig taking part in January 2015)
They can't get any confirmation about this yet, but that's what is been said and the rumours are apparently quite persistent.
When questioned about this, Mayor Mathias Scherer of Obertilliach said - "James Bond? I can neither confirm nor anything else. There will be a film project, but what exactly, I can not say now ..."
