That is strange that it says 'one last time' or whatever is was. Why would they be saying that?

Bare in mind that this franchise is all about shoving every action movie cliche in our faces.

How many sequels have said 'One last time...' only for there to be another sequel after it?   I'm guessing that's what they're doing here - having fun with that tradition.

Could be...I hope so! It's such a refreshing series of action films; I know it's "stale" in some ways, but we NEED this sort of fun nonsense to escape into film with the heroes of yester-year and today!

It's culture eating itself. To make money out of that it's gotta hit a Zeitgeist and the ever astute Sly has managed it. But this self parody gets old soon and that's why i think Sly picked Patrick Hughes for this one, who's made a down and dirty survival shoot'm up with the excellent Red Hill. That suggests he wants more grit in this, as opposed to the pomposity that Con Air director Simon West brought to Expendables 2.

Lets say if Expendables 2 was Rambo 2, then i'm guessing Expendables 3 will be a little more like First Blood. In Rambo 2 the explosions were paramount, whereas in First Blood the tension was paramount (personally i by far prefer the latter)

As i said, Sly's astute and i think he's trying to evolve the franchise to get a little more mileage, so there may well be a 4th, but i'd be surprised if there's a 5th.

It's a different breed of action star. John Wayne was still doing action, or something similar, into his last years, and Clint Eastwood and Connery did too. But those guys were the generation that took action to another level.

I guess part of it is a lot of us don't want to accept guys like Stallone and Arnold are now senior citizen age. We want those guys to continue kicking ass the way they did in their primes but at the same time not be embarrassed by it. It's also a reminder we are getting on in years too, which we don't necessarily want to admit either.

It boils down to the fact we don't want those we love to leave us anytime soon, we want to preserve them and keep enjoying what we have for years and years, total nostalgia with a sprinkling of modern-day reality thrown in. :)

Every character seems to have their own set of unique weapons to fit their own styles. Perhaps Brosnan weapon of choice will have a silencer?....

I'd love to see Pierce Brosnan in the next Expendables! I'm also looking forward to his upcoming return to the spy genre The November Man.

Could be the most important moment in cinematic history next to that Van Dam speech in Street Fighter.
