He just confirmed talks when promoting Survivor.
Personally, I love the idea. I wonder if they will go on the Bond side.
Any thoughts ?

WICKED!

He'd make a good villain.

That is wonderful for two reasons:
1) More of 'The Expendables'
2) More Pierce Brosnan
Can't wait for developments on this, and the 3rd isn't even out yet! Fantastic news.

Wait this is actually confirmed? Like actually confirmed? Pierce Brosnan will be in this?
I am sold. I am going to see it. I hate the Expendables but if James Bond is in it, then I'm there!

I would imagine that this will all depend on how well The Expendables 3 does at the box office. I'd be interested to see how that would work, as I don't really view Brosnan as being of a similar style of action hero to the ones that populate these films. Still, it could be interesting, and it would probably be good for Brosnan's career, as he hasn't had much in the way of high profile films in a while.
Still, I've got to say that I'm more looking forward to Mel Gibson's turn as the villain in the upcoming third film.

Agreed. I wonder how they fit in Harrison Ford in the next film since he is not the type Stallone and co are either. Maybe the Ford-character will be the template for a possible Brosnan appearance.

The fun of Expendables is that they're not really original stories in themselves, so much as a means to get well known and bygone action stars on screen together doing exactly what it is they're known for - a Justice League, or Avengers of 80s action icons.
My point is that the 'actors' aren't cast to play roles, they're cast to play themselves, or rather to play the characters we remember them as. I don't mean that literally - of course Stallone isn't Rambo, or Willis Mclane etc, but that's what the target audience would love to see: Mclane vs. Rambo vs. The Terminator and Stallone's cleverly invented an arena for that to almost happen within.
Ok, so i said 'my point is...' and i didn't make my point, sorry .....Brosnan being cast as anything other than a facsimile of Bond is highly unlikely in this arena.
Mclane vs. Rambo vs. The Terminator vs. James Bond is what i imagine Stallone wants.

I think you´re right.
Funny, the "Expendables"-franchise is kind of a playground for the discarded action stars who either grew too old or became unbankable for getting solo vehicles bankrolled.
Kudos to Stallone to turn this situation to an advantage!

You know - I think if they are going to do this they should go the whole way. Not just Pierce Brosnan, but Roger Moore, George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton aswell (Connery's retirement rules him out). That would be a great hook for The Expendables 4. Have those four guys show up together as old British Secret Service agents with plenty of nudge-nudge-wink-winkery. Arguing amongst themselves about "who was the best" and stuff like that.
Come on, you know it would be a hoot!

It would be a huge hoot for us, but i don't see Sly doing it, since it would likely overshadow his principal cast of regulars. Then again, it will be the 4th outing for this tiring franchise about tiring actors, so who knows, he may feel he needs the added value of such a stunt.
However, Expendables 3 director Patrick Hughes has shown he can make a top draw action thriller with the excellent Red Hill. I'm guessing Sly picked him to give Expendables some more serious teeth. If that works (and i think Hughes is very capable) then i don't see Sly wanting to reverse back into out and out parody for Expendables 4.
Btw, Red Hill would've also drawn the attention of Eon, so as long as Expendables 3 doesn't tank at the box office, then don't be surprised if his name starts getting associated with directing Bond sometime soonish as a place holder between Mendes and Nolan..

I guess, Lazenby would be up for it. But Sir Roger (and please don´t say "Boat Trip" now) would not want to be in this kind of movie. He always hated violence and guns, and now that he´s practically retired as well, he won´t come back for this.
Timothy Dalton... well, he is on a comeback trail with "Penny Dreadful". But I´m not sure whether he wanted to be "the other Bond" in an "Expandables"-movie if Brosnan is cast.

Ford has definitely opened the door for more upper tier actors to this franchise.

I would love to see two Bond actors re-united in a film (it never happened if I am not mistaken). Having Brosnan and Dalton is feasible. I would not see it as bad career move. First of all, because most of it for both of them is behind. Second it would be seen as something so unique, so à part, that it could not be dispraised. Most likely, it would create a huge buzz for both of them

Brosnan stole the show with his supporting role in Mars Attacks. He's a gifted comic actor, so i hope he gets something he can have fun with, as opposed to machismo.
Or maybe something along the lines of Matador, his best performance to date IMO.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw that Brosnan may do Expendables 4. I am sure Lazenby would agree to do the film. Moore probably won't and who knows about Dalton, but he should be asked.

Great poster - Moore looks so bad-a$$!
The teaser is out...
http://www.iamrogue....last-laugh.html
...but in there it says "Hang on- for one last ride."
Does that mean this is the end of the series? Was Brosnan pulling our leg? What else could it mean?
But if he WAS in a 'EX-4' film, with actors like Gibson taking on the villainous role, Brosnan has played the villain in many films so we know he could do it, and I think Ford is taking up supporting the action leads by sticking with technology and vehicles as I think he's a pilot in this film, so again Brosnan could be on the good guys in a lesser action packed role and leave that to the likes of the tough guys.

One last time... until the money says one more last time... ;-)
Posted 04 April 2014 - 05:00 PM
I read somewhere that Stallone and the producer already were location spotting for EXP4.
If he's in the next one I think his part would be more like the Eric Roberts part in the first one, so not realy fighting with Stallone and co but the main villian, the man with the plan.
Great poster! Realy, realy funny!

I hope he's in Part IV, Pierce is a class act, it's always a pleasure to see him.

Totally agree. Finger's crossed!
Posted 09 April 2014 - 08:55 PM
That is strange that it says 'one last time' or whatever is was. Why would they be saying that? Unless there idiots perhaps it has something to do with the plot?.....
I hope Snipes get some more good roles after this he looks like he's still in great shape too.
Would be interesting to see what kind of character they create for Brosnan. I'm guessing but he must be up for the role of the villain right. I would think that would be the first thing they look for in the casting process...
Posted 10 April 2014 - 07:02 AM
I reckon a villain who controls a heck of a lot without getting too much into the action, as he'd be no match for Stallone etc in a fight, so he must be one of the great Bond-style villains who have heavies to do his dirty work but he has an audacious plan and lots of nasty resources to achieve it.
