Beat me to the punch, Yellow Pinky :) (by quite a margin!)

Only a three year gap! And now just over a two year wait. I can live with that :D

I  jumped over here and started scanning through the forum and couldn't believe I was going to be the one to break the news here!  LOL!

:D

So filming will begin I guess October/November 2014. A year before the release?

As I said earlier, It will most likely follow the same production schedule of Skyfall...

I was surprised as well when I just finished making a post and then seen the headline.

Whatever happened to Mendes also doing Bond 25? "With all due respect, M(endes), I think you don't have the balls for this job."

But that was what SF was right? Or was it January? I can't remember.

Filming began in November 2011 for Skyfall, ended I think in May or June or 2012 followed by Post-Production. If they were going for a summer release they'd have to get cracking on things now. In the mean time it's Logan, Mendes, and EON working on the story, re-writes, probably some early location scouting, meeting with Craig and so on.

While this is excellent news ( about 2015) I find myself wondering what convinced the money men to allow the film to have a year off

The script is at least in first draft by now

And I had read elsewhere that the money men were pushing for the next two to be released rapidly like 2014 and then 2016- which while it is possible it holds a number of risks that I dont think are worth it especially being on a magnificent roll out with the last 3 Bonds

But then it doesn't matter since the producers were able to secure 2015 so there is time to really polish the script and have plenty of prep time before shooting

And Craig can get some much deserved rest if he needs to in addition to grab another film before he straps the gun on again which is always important to an actor who commits to such a large multi-picture franchise such as this. I'd hate to see him get typed.

On top of that, I don't mind AVTAK either.

When it comes to Bond's fourth films I'm sure it will be as good as TB, MR and DAD.

Kind of disappointed with this, another long wait and I was hoping for a fresh director, plus no more DA.

Simply brilliant news - the first director of back to back films since Glen in '87/'89. A fantastic continuation with a winning and well established Bond family who have proven they got the look and feel perfect for modern audiences in 'Skyfall'.

Welcome back Mr Mendes...we've been expecting you.

good news.

3 years will be a long wait, but I hope it will be worth it.

That it will be but its ONLY;

A Sunday 2 YEARS 3 MONTHS and 14 DAYS from today JAMES BOND WILL RETURN

ONLY

836 DAYS

OR

119 WEEKS

OR

28 MONTHS

Wait a minute. 28 Months Later? Does this mean Bond will be battling zombies in the next film?

My wallet will likely be empty by the end of 2015... so many movies I'm interested in... Bond, Jurassic Park, Terminator (just to name a few)... oh my!

Perhaps Bond 24 will be where Mendes's two worlds collide; Oomph Loompa henchman?

Gosh; fantastic news. I really didn't expect this to happen.

Shame it's so far off, but then it is sort of practically guaranteed to be a really good Bond film; so it's hard to be too churlish.

BOND 24, STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, THE AVENGERS 2, JURASSIC PARK IV, TERMINATOR, ANT-MAN, FANTASTIC 4, INDEPENDENCE DAY II and JUSTICE LEAGUE (?) all in 2015.

Oh, boy...

3 years now seems to be the normal gap between big franchise films.

I'm a little mixed on the news but definitely more to the positive side.  My concern with bringing Mendes back, though this could be a problem on the part of the producers regardless of the director, is that SF is one of the greatest Bond successes critically and financially.  I heard critics and fans alike call it the Dark Knight of James Bond movies.  They were saying it had transcended the genre.  Now with that much hype and success, isn't it human to think they have to be better and better every time?

I just hope everyone involved sets out to make a great Bond movie in its own right and doesn't try to top SF.  SF is great and deserves the recognition it gets but I hope it doesn't become the 21st century GF in that they are always trying to capture the same magic movie after movie.  I'd hate to see them repeat the same mistake.  There is only one SF just as there will only ever be one GF.  Hopefully, the producers and Mendes will except that and move on to give us a great Bond 24 not burdened by lofty expectations in the wake of SF.

I hope Mendes get his tropical beaches and Andes, because what he's done with Skyfall must be sought to be repeated. I say 'repeated' because trying to top it would be silly.

Excellent, excellent news. Logan's script must be top notch, or at least has a lot of potential. Very good news.

Finally, it's settled. Just a year behind schedule.... just hope he remembers to put the gunbarrel in the right place this time. Other than that, "let's go get 'em, boy!"
