A report here from the UK Daily Mail online about the suggestion from a brief question to Pierce Brosnan about the Academy Award Bond reunion that "They'll be missing one..."

Now does this mean he himself can't/wont attend, or does he mean Sir Sean Connery?

http://www.dailymail...l#axzz2KcogE2pL

This year's Oscars are set to pay tribute to The Bond franchise but one former 007 agent appears to have ruled himself out of the celebrations.

Pierce Brosnan has hinted that he won't be taking part in the rumoured reunion, which is said to be include all former Bond stars.

In a video posted to TMZ the Irish-born actor is asked if he will be joining the group at The Oscars and he replied: 'Well, they'll be missing one.' When the photographer asks for clarification if it will be Sean Connery or himself who will be missing out Pierce just smiled and jumped into his car.

The Bond fraternity including Daniel Craig, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and George Lazenby are set to take to the stage at the star-studded ceremony on February 24, according to the Daily Record.

But while Pierce appears to have ruled himself out it was initially thought that that Sean Connery would be the person least likely to attend.

A source told the paper: 'Sir Sean has been invited to take to the stage along with Daniel and the other 007s. As yet, we've not had a no from him. Normally he is quick to turn things down.'

'Sean's relationship with the Oscars is good and we're hoping he'll appear.'

I hope it's not going to just be 4 of them...

I agree with Dove, Something tells me Connery will be the one to not be there.

I think he meant himself, but I doubt Connery will be there either.

I thought Connery's reps already said he was not going.

If any of the Bonds has no excuse not to show up, it's Brosnan.

I would imagine he's referring to Connery, as well.  I'm sure Brosnan would be smart enough to know that there'd be two missing if he didn't show up.

He's the only one not in the 'Everything or Nothing' documentary and I'm sure he'll be the only one not at the Oscars... unless Brosnan wasn't thinking it through thoroughly enough!

Did you watch the video? It's a very off the cuff remark. I think he's saying "or me" when he gets in the car, echoing what the reporter says.

It has already been confirmed by the Producers of the Oscars that they won't be having a reunion of all the Bonds as part of their tribute (and that it was just press speculation that they would) http://www.mi6-hq.co...35&t=mi6&s=news

We've also heard that Sean Connery has not been invited (via his press agent), George Lazenby hasn't been asked (via Hilary Saltzman) and now Pierce Brosnan more or less says he is not doing it (so likely he hasn't been asked either.)
As nice an idea as all 6 Bonds together would have been, it is fairly safe to say it won't be happening at the Oscars (and was never a serious plan to begin with)

Brozza's not going to the Oscars!? I'm sure the Academy are gutted. Their show could do with the kind of star power that only the star of Taffin, Live Wire, The Detonator, and Death Train could provide.

Without Bond, Brozza is Hollywood D-list at best. He should be running to the Awards if invited. Then again, maybe he's busy filming the sequel to Seraphim Falls.

Plonker!

Watching the video, I think Brosnan's referring to himself.

Do we actually have any confirmation (from anywhere apart from a British tabloid), that any of the Bonds, apart from Craig, will be there?

Not that I've seen - probably lots of spectulation and if the ordinary man were in charge of a 007 tribute, we'd expect all the Bonds together but it's probably going to be something totally different from what we expect in our heads.

I hope at least our current Bond DC is present to support 'Skyfall' and the franchise at least.

As midshipman said, no 007-actor was or is invited. So how come the tabloids always claim, that there will be a reunion of all Bond actors?

That was NEVER the plan by the academy. So they all will be missing, because no one was invited.

Or it is top secret, and Brosnan was just referring to Barry Nelson. ;-)

It sounds like the rumours of The Beatles back together in the '70s.

I think Pierce just wants to get on with his life. He always seems mildly meloncholic, even when he was promoting the Bond movies, so it's not had to imagine him being miffed.

It was in another thread I was saying how sad it is a number of Bond actors who have left the role have done so in difficult circumstances, and not simply full of praise and delight in passing the baton to a new actor.

  • Connery left with a fall-out between him, Cubby and Harry and his frustration with the role and being a star
  • Lazenby left under the thought of Bond being out of touch with audiences and not relevant to the youth anymore
  • Dalton wasn't bitter, but I feel the issues with the stuido lawsuits had him hanging for years before surprising them with quitting
  • Brosnan is the more complex of them all, with reports saying he made the move to leave after the fall-out of the future of the films, but I feel it's more "die he fall or was he pushed" out of the role to inject a new direction into the franchise

  • Moore thankfully left in good spirits, despite pushing his age to the limit, he gave his passion to the films until the end

Obviously, it's clear Moore is still passionate for the series which is a joy to see, and perhaps we could have seen more from Dalton or Brosnan, but feel with their choices that they have put Bond behind them, but hold no issue regarding the series as a whole.

As Brosnan was present at the Parkinson 40th tribute with Dalton and Moore, he was at the apex of 'Die Another Day' and still in the role, but now 11 years later, I forsee those who would be present for anything like this would be Moore, Dalton and Craig. Brosnan I'd hope but it's hard to read his feelings about being pinned to representing James Bond, and Connery who doesn't do these gigs anymore.

Dalton and Moore are the main two who still have no hard feelings about the series but aren't working as much as Brosnan now. And Craig has to be there, if anything, be default.

I guess we won't know until the night...!

Exactly.

As has already been said, they've already said that there hasn't been any plans to have a reunion on stage at the Oscars.  I think that, if all of the rumored activities for this tribute were true, that the tribute would last a rather long time.  This is going to be a rather short tribute by the Academy, especially as they are always looking for ways to shorten the runtime of the show.  It'll probably last about as long as it takes Shirley Bassey to belt out "Goldfinger".

Agreed - a montage of moments from the series in either a big 'Goldfinger' number or medley of songs, and seeing as Adele has already pre-recorded her performance of 'Skyfall' to provide back-up for the live performance, it means she's doing it solo.

So probably 2-3 minute speech by someone associated with the Bond films, either MGW or even Sam Mendes, and then a performance or montage clip. 5-6 minutes max.

Looking at the video, he might have been just messing around.  I think they might all be just to keep the speculation going.

All the news of Adele Pre-recording seem to cite The Daily Mail as the source of the story...and The Daily Mail isn't considered a particularly reliable or accurate, in all likelihood she will be performing the song live (even according to the Daily Mail's "source" she intends to sing Skyfall live...recording a vocal to lip-sync to is just insurance against any throat problems she may have on the day)

That would be nice but I have a feeling we'll have Moore and Craig on the stage together and us wondering how it all went wrong.

A TMZ bloodhound coming up behind the bushes when Brosnan was getting into his car certainly will NOT get any important information out of anyone.

If that kind of tribute for the Oscars will indeed feature all Bonds (which I doubt) Brosnan would definitely try to be there.

No huge surprise, I guess. Looks like the tribute will be Shirley Bassey singing and a montage then. Better than nothing!

I can imagine they tried to bring them together - but it did not work out.

And quite frankly, it would have looked weird, considering the height differences of all these actors...
