VERY interesting, thanks for this quantumofsolace. Sounds like the beginning of the end for Activision's licence.

They really screwed it up.

I hope they don't shut down the servers, I always like to go back to Quantum of Solace and Blood Stone every now and then.

My dear, you should try with the original GoldenEye (if you haven't got a N64 you can download the Project 64 emulator and a ROM to play on PC), or go for the EA PS2 ones: Agent Under Fire, Nightfire, Everything or Nothing and From Russia With Love, all of them better than the whole Activision crap!

I only have a 360 and I don't know how to do any of that downloading stuff.

PS2 games don't work on PS3 (but buying used PS2 with games is not expensive nowadays) and I highly doubt that PS4 will have a blockade for second hand games.

About the licence - UBISOFT, now's your chance :D

After the bad reviews and because of my huge pile of shame of unplayed games I'd put this into the 'buy it later when it's cheap' category. But then I remembered the Skyfall DLC. I'd been burnt by losing DLC before with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, when the DLC disappeared from the store before I could get it, so I thought I'd go and get that at least, and then I'd have it for when I got the disk. What a surprise to find it's been taken down!

Not necessarily. It depends on which PS3 you have. If it's a slim model then you are correct in saying that PS2 games will not work. However, if it is one of the older PS3s then it will play PS2 games. It's precisely the reason I never traded my PS3 for a slim model.

007jamebond, do you have a slim model PS3 or the older fatter model?

Actually it depends on which 'fat' model do you own, because 60GB and 20GB support backward compability and I own 40GB which doesn't.

True, I guess I should rephrase and say if you have a fat model PS3 from before August of 2007 then it will be backwards compatible with PS2.

Looks like I got the Skyfall levels just in time then. To those who missed it - you really aren't missing much. Not only were the Skyfall levels horrible but combined the two levels only took about 15 minutes or so, and the second was a very boring (and repetitive) shootout with Patrice in Shanghai. It was like an old SNES boss battle or something. Shoot him until his health is totally drained.

I hope Bioware (part of EA) will get the rights. Always wanted to see an Mass Effect-openworld-type of Bond game with all of the missions from the movies featured

I wouldn't count it a loss if you didn't get the 'Skyfall' mission. It shouldn't even be called 'Skyfall' as it's very loosley set around the pre-title chase and the Shanghai pursuit of Patrice - but during that it veers off course from the film very dramatically and ends in a totally different way that is NOT 'Skyfall'.

Will be interesting now to see how this is followed up, either by another game company to get hold of the licence that can be a good selling point in the right hands, and how EON will take their series forward in the gaming world.

I think so. This licence will need to go to a company, if one is interested in it, and then a new game forumlated, developed and produced. I'd say 2014 at the latest.

It's a shame, and I hope it doesn't go dead in the water for another game.

What really scares me is that multiplayer will be removed. Not that I really care to play it, but I was looking forward achievements. About Skyfall Pre-Titles mission... who cares?

I don't think I could've stomached the 007L multiplayer long enough to go trophy hunting in this game. Also, the Skyfall levels didn't have any trophies/achievements.

I think SONY should take up the licence - they seem pretty in with all things Bond at the moment, and Sony Computer Entertainment have made some good games, but I'd hate to see other consoles lose out...

I don't want to see SONY get the licence, if for no other reason than if they actually stumbled into a decent Bond game, I'd be unable to try it out.  After the poor sales of 007 Legends, I'd imagine that they (being whoever gets the license) would want to be selling their product to the widest possible audience rather than limiting it to a particular console.

Ahh of course, they only do Sony products don't they? Duhhh.

I retract my wish for Sony to acquire the licence due to the fact I don't own a Sony console...!

The reason I wouldn't mind Sony getting the Bond license would be that we could get Naughty Dog creating a Bond game. However, I think it's far more likely that Ubisoft picks it up or EA gets it back. I would really be fine with either at this point. I mean there's no way they could do any worse than Activision did. That includes TND and 007 Racing too.
