Should the production team go back to Fleming and have a Bentley as Bond's car of choice in an upcoming film? In the early novels Bond's one true love was the 1933 Bentley 4½ Litre. After this was destroyed, he used his gambling winnings to buy a 1953 Bentley Mark VI. Bond also owned a Bentley Mark II Continental and personally upgrades the engine several times.

In the books Bond obviously loves Bentleys, should this love be brought into the films? The car would have to be an updated version but not necessarily the latest version - as Bond's hobby is resurrecting old cars.

I don't think they should bring back the Bentley. Sadly, the modern image of Bently is not what it used to be. Bond saw Bentleys as a good old English performance brand. Now, Bentley is associated with people like Jennifer Lopez, the Kardashians and Paris Hilton. Even if Bond's hobby was an old Bentley, I think it would be impossible to explain to the general audience what he sees in them. Personally, I think Aston Martin and the public's image of the brand in this day and age is most analogous to literary Bond's love of Bentleys. I really liked that they went with the idea from Goldeneye onwards of Bond's personal vehicle being a vintage Aston Martin.

I think they should stick with Aston Martin. Maybe his new car should not be classic DB5 but a later model, perhaps the one Lazenby had, or Dalton?

I agree with both posts above. Movie-Bond is associated (for better or worse) with Aston Martin. It was a great idea to have the rebooted Bond have a vintage AM as a personal car. For the coming films, I think he should stick with it: a later model, as suggested, might be a good idea.

Or we could go with a vintage Jaguar. Glamourous british item also.

In any case, it has to be a stylish vintage car (i.e no recent Bentley).

In Carte Blanche Bond drives a Continental GT, which could transfer to the screen - it is a beautiful car and very powerful:-

Posted Image

If he drove the Continental GT Speed, which goes up to 205mph and has a horsepower of 616 it would look fantastic in a chase.

I'm still not very keen on that. I'd prefer something a bit more exclusive for him, too.

Possibly the only good reason to check out Neil Marshall’s film Doomsday is to see Rhona Mitra’s character put a 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed through it’s paces. The car’s a natural fit for Bond.

I want Bond to stick with Aston Martin for as long as possible. If he was to change then I always thought he should go "different" and get something like a Morgan Aero 8

I wouldn't be in the least bit suprised if Daniel Craig doesn't end up driving a Bentley in Bond 24. With the promient mentions of both VW Beetles and Audi's at the start of Skyfall it is obvious that the Volkswagen Group (of which Bentley is now a part) have paid a considerable sum to EON...

I want to see him drive the latest British high-performance cars, i.e. the newest Aston Martins and Bentleys, maybe even a McLaren, even though that car might be too flashy for somebody doing spywork.

I agree with Roebuck, I remember Doomsday precisely because of those scenes with Rhona Mitra driving that Bentley.

I think the Bentley's not quite Bond's style. As a car geek, I honestly think he should stick with Aston Martin. The DB9 remains one of the most beautiful cars in the world.

Aston Martin is the classic for a Bond franchise.

I want the Aston Martin back. The cars just suit Daniel Craig very well.

Well I was disappointed the the Classic DB5 was blown up. He never got a company car. Since Licence to Kill. But in Bond 24 I won't bet on an Aston because I have feeling he'll be switch from that famous British Marquee. But It has to be a British icon brand. Either Bentley,Rolls Royce,Jaguar or Lotus. Good new Lotus is rumoured to released the Esprit which he drove in The Spy who love Me & For your Eyes ONly. Jensen Brand is revive we put that on the running.

Not sure it'll be Lotus; it seems a bit touch and go that they'll survive.

As the new Vanquish is imminent, that would seem a tasty fit....

God - I wasn't even aware there was a new and imminent Vanquish so have just popped into Google for images.

Good grief.

For as many years as I can remember now, whenever Aston bring out a new car I say to myself, 'that is the most beautiful car they could ever design, indeed it must be unsurpassable.'....

...until they bring out the next thing of beauty.

Just gorgeous.

It's nice but their inspiration is leaving them slightly; they're running out of ideas and aren't on the same cutting edge they were a few years ago. And they're all looking so similar to each other now. For example this is the new DB9:

Posted Image

This, on the other hand, is the entirely different preceding model, the Virage:

Aston Martin DB5, DB9 or The Virage. Aston Martin is the only right choice for Craig-Bond.

Whatever model it is, it'd be nice to have a Bond car not painted silver or dark grey.

You may all be amused to know that the new Aston Martin Vanquish can be ordered in 'Skyfall Silver'......
