Craig had the band play Its a Wonderful World because its his favorite Bond song...for anyone who saw him on Fallon, he really needs to get that straight!
True. Even if he was confused because Louis Armstrong also sang "What a wonderful world"... And the article in THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER now picked it up, too, not even fact-checking the title. The state of journalism today...

Judging by the pictures within the link, it was a good one!

The little bit I saw of SNL was pretty good. I liked the sketch where they had Lea Michele and Jodie Foster (amongst others) as the "forgotten" Bond girls, and the monologue was pretty good as well. That's about all I saw, as I fell asleep while watching it (not because it was bad, I was just tired) and woke up pretty much at the end of the episode, but I'll hopefully get a chance to watch the rest of it sometime in the next day or so.
I used to fall asleep while watching SNL all the time . . . even during its heyday.

The presidential debate at the beginning was very funny and quite true. Overall, the entire episode was a failure though.
The only thing that SNL is really good at anymore is political satire. The only time the show has been worthwhile is during presidential elections, although the amount of direct influence that it had on the last election was troubling. Outside of political satire, though, SNL has become a disaster, and NBC should consider dumping it to "special" status, airing it in limited runs during election years and maybe as a special a couple of Saturdays a year, as it's evident that it no longer works as a weekly installment and hasn't for quite some time.
It's a shame this episode had such lousy writing. I liked the monologue and the "lesser known Bond girls"-sketch though.
Judging from the comments in this thread, it seems as though I saw the only two parts of the episode that were worthwhile (monologue and Bond girls sketch). The Bond girls sketch was hilarious, I thought. The person they had impersonating Jodie Foster was terrific and I actually laughed out loud (a rarity while watching SNL) watching Craig interact with their Lea Michele stand-in.

Thank God! I thought it was just me! Some nice moments and Criag handled it all with his usual grace and what seemed like a tongue n cheek attitude. But yeah, a little too much on the bathroom humor side for me. Used to really enjoy SNL but not so much last night.
At one point kind felt embarrassed. Hoped Craig didn't think ALL Americans were quite so crude.

Also, how did they not think to do a Celebrity Jeopardy sketch with Darryl Hammond playing Sean Connery when they had James Bond himself hosting the show?

Oh, heck, there's got to be a way of getting them all in it, if possible. I know that Connery is enjoying retirement too much to participate in such a skit, and I'm not sure what Lazenby is up to these days. But it would be a hoot to see Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig all together in some sort of satire.Back when Brosnan was still Bond. I had always hoped he did a comedy with Dalton, like Brosnan's a homeowner or something and Dalton played his annoying neighbor. I still think that would be a great idea, just make Craig be the lead and Brosnan the annoying neighbor.

SNL has become nothing more than a vehicle of left-wing propaganda in recent years, so it's no surprise that it's rarely funny anymore. I did appreciate that they stuck it to MSNBC with that 'Worst Thing That Ever Happened' sketch regarding Obama's debate performance, though.
That part was rather funny, although a review of the episode that I read had it right in saying that the sketch wasn't nearly as hilarious as watching the actual MSNBC coverage of the debate.
Also, how did they not think to do a Celebrity Jeopardy sketch with Darryl Hammond playing Sean Connery when they had James Bond himself hosting the show?
I think, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that they only do the CELEBRITY JEOPARDY sketches when Will Ferrell is available, and willing, to play Trebek. I think they've done a couple here and there without Hammond as Connery, but I don't recall there ever being one without Ferrell in the role of Trebek.

The person they had impersonating Jodie Foster was terrific and I actually laughed out loud (a rarity while watching SNL watching Craig interact with their Lea Michele stand-in).
That would be Kate McKinnon, whom many have already named Kristen Wiig's heir apparent, and who I've found myself immensely attracted to, despite recently learning she's a lesbian...
...Seems like a very Bondian problem to have.

As for the show itself, its fine until the after the first Muse performance. If they show ended at that it would have been a fine show. Overall, the show shows that it just doesn't have it anymore and needs to get rid of those like Arminsen and Myers and the like who have been there too long and outstayed their welcome. Sudekis is only there because they need him to play Romney and is likely gone once the election is over so perhaps its a time to do an overhaul. A few of the new bloods are quite good, but are being held back by people afraid to leave and try to make it away from SNL. SNL needs to reinvent itself every few years or it becomes stale. Right now, the show is pretty bad and not even close to how it was in the 70s or 90s.

The construction one was funny watching Craig use the worst puns ever on the girls walking by.
The Bond 50 sketch about unpopular Bond girls you haven't heard of, wasn't all that funny IMO, neither was the weekend update.
'A Sorry Lot We Are' I also thought was king of funny, the part when Danny is listing the places he's worked and then finds out the Olympics is only for 16 days.
