The conclusion, is Yes, Bond would.
In a way, the DB5 was his prize after CR. The Bond of the novels (as described in TB) took a totally wrecked Bentley and had it refitted with custom coachwork and bucket seats. "The most selfish car in the world" and he loved it.
I think this a great nod to Bond as a character of the books and Craig's Bond in the here and now. Getting a DB5 converted to RHD is no simple or inexpensive chore, but there are companies (see: astonworks.co.uk) that make their stock in trade on matters like this on a daily basis. Bond is an eccentric when it comes to his personal car. Has been since CR - Sporting about in 1933 Bentley in 1950's London let alone the continent? Why the Hell not?
It's right. It fits and it's perfect for the 50th anniversary IMO.

This has been discussed before in a few threads by the CBn AM fans.

OK, it could be... fair point, the one from the novels. However, I would wish at least one line about this car modification in SF, to avoid a continuity change that could mirror the strange disappearing of Bond's waistcoat between CR's end and QOS beginning.

Where does that fit in with a chronology that sees 007 using cell phones and laptops to defeat a terrorist financier, then stealing a mechanical decoder from the Soviet Russians, before retrieving two MOS-type atomic weapons from a stolen Vulcan bomber and preventing a Gemini space capsule from being hijacked in mid-flight?
Is Casino Royale set in 1961 (with anachronisms intact) or are the old Bonds with obsolete technology and dated politics set in the future? And having recovered from the death of Vesper all those years ago, will Craig's Bond ever mention his more recently lost love, Tracy?
Your poor head must hurt trying to make two seperate but similar film series work within one chronology. What do you make of the Batman series, with Bruce Wayne's parents being killed twice by two different assailants?
I took the easy way out and accepted that AVTAK ended one series, DAD ended another, and that CR/QoS/SF are the first three in the latest series.
But maybe that's just me.
BTW the Aston in CR is left-hand and the GF Aston right-hand, not vice-versa.

It is hard to drive left-hand drives on British roads. Most notably when arriving on a roundabout it is difficult to have a full view of what happens around you.
To be fair, in most movies Bond manages to drive his right hand drive Astons in European countries!

May only have been yesterday as it was some sort of Creative Services summit.

Hey, bonded56, you forgot to jump all over the Aston from Goldeneye - apparently stripped of it's gadgetry and with the 'wrong' plate #: BMT 214A.

Without being specific the "Goldeneye" Aston was included in my comment.....> If the events of "Skyfall" take place after all of the other movies, then Bond drove the Astons with different license plates to conceal that he had the actual Aston from "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball". (If "Skyfall" events take place in the middle of the series, then the Astons driven are a tribute to the Aston from the Goldfinger mission.)
Not sure what you meant by...Your poor head must hurt trying to make two seperate but similar film series work within one chronology.
It's all Bond.
Thanks.

No, I don't believe in what I just wrote.
I´m glad you don´t. It would undoubtedly flame a new discussion on continuity and please...we don´t want one of those again

Still, nice thought.
PS: I´m gonna go re-watch CR right now

Please tell me you are joking! At least Daniel Craig has managed to learn his way around a clutch. For that, I am truly grateful.

Old rumour. Along with the safety vests and the finger chopping

Oh I know the pre-CR rumours, I just hoped that Miles Miservy was joking that he believed them CnB rumours (along with the missing tooth etc)

Old rumour. Along with the safety vests and the finger choppingAlthough the man really cut his finger, just not off. And he did know how to swim
I highly doubt he didn´t know his way around a clutch.

I've a feeling one of those might come along. It'll be a long and tedious one that'll make everyone who reads it want to smash up their laptop and burn the motherboard.

According to what we have seen about SKYFALL, the Aston Martin DB5 used by Bond wouldn't be the same one that he won it in CR, because is right-hand drive, unlike the (former) Dimitrios's one that was left-hand drive. I mean, I can understand that 007 should have changed the bahamian license plate for a british one, but we have to believe too the he modified a mint vintage car, just to adapt it to the common UK right-hand drive??!!!
Possibly another card game, perhaps?

Another option is that Bond got into talking with an elderly English gentleman at the Ocean club, who has his retirement home on the Bahamas, but his vintage Aston is still stored away in some garage in London. He's been wanting to ship it to the Bahamas for quite a while, but the shipping and insurance costs were a bit too high for his liking, and he also needed to have it converted to a left hand drive etc. They made a deal and simply swapped cars, and then Bond talked to the guys at Q Branch.I reckon he won the DB5 in CR, shipped it back to the UK, got friendly with some lads in Q Branch and he asked them to convert it to right hand drive. They then mentioned that they were scrapping an old Q Car from the 60s (say an old Jag E Type or something) and offered to fit the old gadgets from that onto Bond's newly-acquired Aston. Hence M recognises what the buttons do.
Or: Bond knew that an old DB5 with gadgets is stored away somewhere in th MI6 car park (been used by, say, 004 back in the days of old). They couldn't seel it to "normal" people with all the modifications, but they also didn't want to scrap it. Bond sawps cars with MI6, who can now sell the unmodified Aston, or simply keep it as company car on the Bahamas.

So does the AM DB5 in SkyFall.
It also has the same ejector seat, guns and at least the lines for the shield in the back.
My conclusion is that the DB5 in SkyFall is the one from Goldfinger.
