Filming this year, Craig for 3 more, Mendes for 24. I hope he knows what he is talking about.

Wow..yes, this should be taken with a grain of salt but to hear that Whishaw says Craig is doing the next THREE Bonds is intriguing to say the least...(that would put his run from Bond 21-26)...now as far as shooting next year, realistically I suppose it's possible..they use the rest of 2013 to get the script all together, location scouting, set building and casting...I'm now more convinced than ever that Mendes will be back so that would help speed things up (no need to spend a long time searching for another director which could take months). So it could be possible shooting could begin in Jan/Feb of 2014 with a Nov/Dec release scheduled.. Let's hope..

I would love to have Craig do 3 more. Have his origin trilogy and then have three that are more like classic Bond films. Perfect.

Indeed, it would be perfect.

You know what guys, I think Mendes is all but confirmed for this. Sam Mendes has been accepted into the Bond family. In fact, I'd be very surprised if Mendes doesn't end up working a lot on the Bond films in future. Skyfall has been a monumental success, but I do have a sneaky little feeling that the past few weeks of Mendes news for Bond 24 has been a publicity stunt by EON to gain even more interest in Bond in the wake of Skyfall, so they can confirm it around May time.
What I'm thinking, is that Mendes has knew fine well he was coming back before he even yelled action on Skyfall. We all knew that Logan pitched ideas to turn Bond 24 and Bond 25 into a two parter. Michael and Barbara loved the idea and offered it to Mendes. There's been meetings going on for ages, months in fact. I wouldn't be surprised if the first draft has already been read over. All of these comments in the past month or so. "It needs my full attention.". "I need a break before I even think about it." Oh Mendes, you crafty man.

It sounds like Ben Whishaw has signed up to a 4 film contract to be "Craig's Q". I think that statement is probably very accurate, and good news indeed!

I'm not reading too much into Whishaw's comment about Craig doing 3 more, but I'm completely excited about this concept, as it would be perfect to set up his next films in this manner.

But if Mendes comes back for Bond 24 (and it sounds like he is, and perhaps 25 too?) , will people be happy with that?
Yes Skyfall was immensely successful. But that doesn't make it a good film (though it was).
So what do people on here think, do we WANT Mendes back (I do!) ?
I'm very open to Mendes returning for Bond 24 as long as he keeps his pledge to make a better film. There are niggles with SF's story, dialogue and directorial style that can be fixed by giving everyone a second chance to play in the Bond world.
However I hope someone else steps up for Bond 25 (Martin Campbell again, anyone?), just for variety's and freshness's sake.

I don't know if that will ever happen, I believe Campbell openly said he would NOT return.

John Logan is already on board and so is the production designer Denis Gassner, could they already be working on concert art for sets they have in mind?

According to Baz Bamigboye, there isn't a completed script yet from Logan, but only a handful of people have read the detailed treatment - Broccoli, Wilson, Mendes and Craig among them. I think Mendes will be confirmed officially in a month or so.

Logan's treatment for Bond 24 had been circulated amongst the top brass sometime before last October - Craig mentioned it in at least two interviews back then.
Baz's info is accurate (in my opinion) but he tends to be given things that have already developed further.

It going to be a while until we learn about director, composer, villain, bond girl but I am betting the rumour has and will continue to start until end of the year! I hope we know something before filming starts

Martin Campbell again, anyone?
Campbell will never work on the series again, the guy is seventy and a spent force - I doubt he'll even still be working by the time Bond 25 comes around.
It'd be akin to WB reverting to Joel Schumacher for the next Batman film.

I hope he is right - I'd love to hear that filming would start on a new Bond film in January 2014 with a November release date!
Can we really have a 2 year gap between the next few Bond films????

Looks like we mights have a longer wait....

This disappoints me as I was hoping for another Bond next year. Or at latest the summer after (if Mendes had stayed on) We can only wait and see.who they select as director and how this affects the timing.

This is good news. I was quite alarmed at all the postings I've seen about Bond coming back in 2015.

I'm afraid Ben Whishaw's quote has since been superseded. I'd suspect it's more likely to be 2015 for BOND 24.

So, I guess the fact that Star Wars VII, and other films mentioned in this article filming at Pinewood in 2014, pretty much seals the 2014 rumor for Bond 24. A 1st quarter 2015 start seems more in line with reality, don't you think?

Pinewood's not the only studio Eon has ever used (MR, LTK) - they've even converted space when necessary (GE).

I think Quarter 4 2015 is more likely.

Right, they do that when pressed. But I think Eon prefers not having to build their own studios and rather use already existing infrastructure and the expertise that comes with it.
It's true, studio space for the coming months is rapidly becoming a scarce commodity. But then Eon may already have a schedule in mind and have done the necessary booking in advance. I don't see such a detail becoming a major obstacle for the next production.

Exciting for sure!
Am I right in remembering this puts Bond 24 on the same shooting schedule as SkyFall? If so, can we reasonably estimate a timetable for further announcements?

Great news! Yes this would put the shooting schedule on a similar timeline to what Skyfall's was.. It started shooting in Nov. of 2011, just after the official press conference. So yes, an October start date for Bond 24 is logical if the want to have the film out for its Oct/Nov 2015 releases. Great, now it shouldn't be too long before all the juicy details of the film start to appear.
