Daniel Craig tells the BBC that he'll keep going in the role of Bond until he's told to stop.

Admittedly that might all change, but great news for now!

Anyway, the dream consisted of an interview in which Craig said he would return as James Bond because it was too physically demanding.
I certainly hope that's not the case. Not saying it was a vision or anything, just that I had a weird dream about this.

If not taking its cue from CR or QoS, then what?

BBC man's comment that it will have "fewer gadgets" (interesting since Q returns) and be "less super hero and more super spy".
A super spy is a super hero type spy. I should say they both about the same. There really not much different on it. Nick Fury is on the Mission Impossible world, The Man From Uncle, The Avenger, xXx, Get Smart, Johnny English and son are also those type.

As I said in previous threads about this issue, generations grew up with Connery and Moore. Dalton and Lazenby made an impact but not enough for the majority to recognise/remember in the mainstream. Brosnan was nearly there with a good run of 4 for a new generation of fans, so I pray that Craig stays on as long as he can to cement another big generation of fans to follow the series, but for us current fans to have another Connery/Moore comfort in really knowing our Bond and what to expect without a worry if this is his last, does he want to stay etc...
Here's hoping!

It's a special role and I'd prefer not to have a new guy every second film. Make a solid era out of it.

That's what I hope EON and Craig value also sharpshooter. A special role indeed and if you're are blessed to be chosen to take the role and do it so well, make it solid, as you say.

That's also what I've always thought. The audience needs time to get acquainted with a new actor bringing along his own take on the role. we want to feel something for Bond, we want to develop a genuine attachment to him. And that's not really possible if an actor just does a couple films. It's a special role and I'd prefer not to have a new guy every second film. Make a solid era out of it.

In a perfect world, we would have had "five films / actor" and everyone would be "happy". But reality is often not that predictable, and thank god for that. I love OHMSS, but I will also admit that this film would not be the same if it was part of an established actor's suite of films. It is a unique Bondfilm in many ways and Lazenby's one-film show just adds a new dimension to the film. They could have given CR (2006) the same treatment by following it up with a different, smoother, actor starring in less pretentious films. It would benefit CR, the series as a whole as well as Craig's career. Craig wants to leave his mark on the series, but QOS did nothing to help him with that.

In the end, it all depends on the timing of the next films. Two year-rhythm? Three year-rhythm?
Bond 23: 2014 or 2015?
Bond 24: 2016 or 2018?
Bond 25: 2018 or 2021?
The way these films have become huge complex enterprises with extensive pre-planning, a two year-rhythm seems to be not enough for a proper preparation (including refreshing the creative batteries).

Very sensible indeed. The way these films have become huge complex enterprises with extensive pre-planning, a two year-rhythm seems to be not enough for a proper preparation (including refreshing the creative batteries).
I highly doubt we'll resume the "every 2 year Bond" trend.
