Goes on for about 3 hours so should be epic! I reckon James Bond will open the ceremony probably first to make the most of the dusk light, to tie in with the pre-recorded video segments to appear "live".

I always found it astonishing that he would get picked on for wearing his safety jacket. Why shouldn´t he have worn that? Bond certainly would have done that. Everybody with his senses together would have done that.
Naw, it was just a way for cruel journalists to pour hate on him.
That is mostly a thing of the past now, however.
Yes I found that bizarre too: it was as if they didn't realise that film and real life are two different things.

And DR76, it's not confirmed and I don't think Daniel Craig wil actually light the Stadium Couldron via the final Olympic Torch, but rather he will open the ceremony itself, as a symbol of Britishness on a mission from Queen Elizabeth II. You can't get more British that 50 years of James Bond on a global scale - I don't think there will be any marketing material for 'Skyfall' involved.

And found this scan from April about the details. I'm afraid it's too small to read, but the pictures certainly conjur up an exciting image of what it could be like...!
1) "Now then 007," M says. "Head to the Palace. HM has a job for you. Get it right or you're for the high jump."
2) The Queen ushers Bond into the palace and over tea tells him "One would like you to open the Olympics."
3) Bond calmly finishes his Earl Gret and bids the Queen goodbye before scrambling aboard a waiting chopper.
4) 007 parachutes into the stadium with seconds to spare. He tells the stunned crowd: "The names Bond, Games Bond."

As well as Bond, rumours are now that Lord Voldermort will face off against multiple Mary Poppins's in a nightmare vs peaceful 'battle'...I know, sounds like an acid trip but that's the latest rumour!

Fantastic, Script by Purvis and Wade, no doubt.

"Bond, Games Bond"?
Please, EON, don´t let him say that...

And I was thinking yesterday, I doubt it would happen but I'd love the video footage to start of with maybe a new/re-shot gunbarrel that may be taken from 'Skyfall' or a variation of one, to start the mini-Bond movie perhaps? Better that than we just get a fade in from black anyway...!

Not sure if this has been voiced elsewhere, and if not, then it should have.
Too good to be true.

I also expect the segment to be rather short - I'd be surprised if the whole Bond element clocks more than 3 minutes.

Agree. It would be utterly out of place.I hope that this is not true. The idea of a Bond actor opening the Olympic Games makes me want to cringe. Free publicity via the Olympics, anyone?
Same here. What's Bond got to do with the Olympics? If he had to show up everytime something just happens to take place in London...I'm really not seeing any part of where this is a good idea.

As much as it's about the sport, the Olympics is also about the community spirit, bringing the nation together and celebrating everything and everyone of that country that helped win the games itself.
I think it's going to be brilliant.

There won't be a SKYFALL trailer for commercial reasons, but my hopes are high for a classy little sequence.I'm sitting ready now. It starts it 35 minutes. Although I hope it's not insanely cheesy, and I'm hoping for a Skyfall trailer.
