One of the three would be fine. But piling up "cool names" produces lame results. You wind up with something that sounds like a D&D character or a teenager's nom de plume.

Has anyone else noticed that neither Eve nor Helen McCrory's character appear on this cast list?

They are on there, Coco (characters 5 and 12).

I'm a huge fan of the name. Raoul Silva slides off the tongue. A name filled with malice, but not ornate or OTT. I really hope this particular Bond villain presents a genuine threat to the world, and is terrifying in his own right. Sure, we've had the megalomaniacs, but noone who is genuinely scary, someone who is chilling and fueled by a desire to do harm. If anyone can bring that element of horror that I've been waiting for to the world of Bond villainy, Bardem is the guy to do it.

I saw a fish selling van today with a name just like it. Really evil I tell ya.
Sorry ;) I still think it´s pretty non memorable. It´s is if I said Tony Danza was a cool and evil sounding name...wait a minute...ok, bad example. Maybe Tony Scott then.

But I do agree with something. Bardem can make any name sound cool and evil.

Are you implying that Tony Danza isn't a cool and evil-sounding name?

Seems that the blonde hair will be a feature of Silva over the whole movie and not just a wig that is part of his disguise throughout the tube and Whitehall chase sequence.

But this confirms that it's his real hair, and not a wig. I seem to recall people wondering about that.

Yeah, definitely seems a good guy. Welcome addition to the franchise for sure. First time I've heard that for certain that Bardem had been offered parts in previous Bond films - presumably Le Chiffre and Greene? If so, definitely third time lucky.

Yeah. I like Le Chiffre and Greene, but by the sounds of it, Silva is the better part for him to sink his teeth into.

One of them was Renard in TWINE.

Kim Newman's review says Silva has "a hidden (and gruesome) deformity."

I wouldn't be surprised if turns out the Chinese had

Spoiler

That's an interesting idea. It would certainly explain his bad attitude.

I´ve heard of weird dentistry. So I´d say he has no teeth. But that´s as good as guess as any.

Yep, I also heard that but can't remember if any article has referred to both the dentistry and the deformity in the same breath. Possible that Silva was tortured at some point, and had all his teeth pulled out. The idea makes my eyes water slightly.

Would make the "Jaws" preference by Bardem even funnier though.

Certainly a full mouth extraction without anesthesia would be excruciating, but I don't think that a resulting necessity to wear dentures would be sufficiently grotesque for a classic Bond villain.
