Luigi has already posted similar details in the main SKYFALL filming spoiler thread, but it feels like we're getting to the stage that information is being lost as it becomes increasingly unwieldy. Given that reports suggest SKYFALL will be shooting in Turkey for 2-3 months, it felt right to spin off a new thread.

This is the latest English-language article from Hurriyet Daily News: http://www.hurriyetd...5&NewsCatID=381

The producers of the new film from the 007 James Bond series visited Adana Mayor Zihni Aldırmaz on January 8 to ask for support for filming in the southern province.

Ali Akdeniz, one of the producers of the film’s Turkish scenes, said some film scenes would be shot in Istanbul, others in Adana and nearly 500 people would work on the film, according to a statement by Adana Municipality.

“Filming in Adana is planned over six weeks and would mostly take place on the Varda Railway Bridge near the Belemedik region in Pozantı district,” the statement said, adding that filming in Istanbul will take nearly four weeks.

Since the film’s story is taking place on a railway, a train station in the city center, the Kasım Gülek Bridge and the İncirlik Station will also be used as locations, it said.

Starting in mid-February in Adana, filming will continue into March and, following a break in April, filming in Istanbul would begin, the statement said, adding that crews would return to Adana in May to finish the film’s Turkish scenes. The Kasım Gülek Bridge will be closed to traffic between March 19 and 26 due to filming, Akdeniz said, adding that the star of the film, Daniel Craig, would join the filming in Istanbul and Adana.

Mayor Aldırmaz said the municipality would support the film team in the closure of the bridge to traffic. “We will become involved in any project that will contribute to the city’s promotion,” he said.

Adana has a natural scene for filmmakers, he said, adding that one can feel the four seasons on the same day, even in the warmest day of summer. “You can swim on the coasts, feel the spring on the skirt of the Toros Mountains and see Lake Çinili’s frozen water atop the mountains,” he said.

Aldırmaz said they prepared a 500-page book including the city’s historical and natural beauties and offered a draft of the book to Akdeniz as a gift. The Çukurova region was always attractive for filmmakers, he said. “Mostly, Turkish films were filmed in the region in the 1970s. Many current films and TV series have also been made in the region.”

Adana is a very important place for Turkish cinema, Aldırmaz said, adding that the Adana Cinema Museum opened last year with the contributions of our artists. “It is the largest and the most comprehensive cinema museum after the one in Istanbul,” he said, adding that they also support Turkish cinema with the Golden Boll Film Festival.

“Our purpose is to show all the city’s beauties to the world,” he said.

It contains the most detailed information on where the crew will be filming scenes. It seems to be at least two major sequences - one in Istanbul and another train sequence in southern Turkey.

All pictures, speculation, comment and musings on Turkish filming welcome!

Good idea, I'll drop this in here too...

The Turkish cities of Adana and İstanbul will this spring host the cast and crew of “Skyfall,” the next movie in the James Bond franchise and one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the year, Turkish news agencies reported over the weekend.

Filming details for the upcoming movie in the franchise have started to emerge as producers of the 23rd film in the series continue working on shooting locations in Turkey. Ali Akdeniz, the Turkish executive producer on the team, was in the southern province of Adana over the weekend, seeking support from local administrators for the movie’s scenes to be shot in the region, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Citing a written statement from the Greater Adana Municipality, Anatolia said Akdeniz visited Zihni Aldırmaz, Adana’s deputy mayor, on Sunday to discuss filming locations and to inform the mayor about details on filming. The municipality announced that a 500-strong film crew would be involved in the parts to be shot in Turkey.
Filming in Adana is expected to get under way mid-February and continue in March. Filming in Adana is expected to last five to six weeks in total, while the İstanbul stint will last for four weeks, the statement said. In April, filming will move to İstanbul. The crew is expected to return to Adana later in May to wrap up filming in Turkey.
“Since the movie’s plotline involves a railroad trip, numerous locations on the Adana railway were chosen for filming, including the historic Varda Bridge in Belemek [village], the Adana railway station in the provincial capital, the Kasım Gülek Bridge and the parts of the railway that are close to İncirlik,” the statement added.
“Skyfall,” the 23rd installment in the franchise, to be directed by Sam Mendes, is set for theatrical release in November. Daniel Craig, who has been portraying James Bond since 2006’s “Casino Royale,” will be at hand in both filming sessions, Akdeniz added.

It would be nice if we had another fight sequence on-board a train. It's been awhile.

Love it when you say "Uh, why?" Lots of different ways to do a fight sequence on-board a train. Why not discuss them, instead of writting of a fellow fan´s expectations. I bet you have a couple of brilliant ideas.

There is nothing harder or more boring than writing a fight sequence. You have to be aware of where every character is in relation to one another at any given time, and then you have to make sure it is paced properly (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was particularly guilty of this - it kept cutting away from characters for too long, so the audience forgot about them by the time the film cut back). Setting a fight scene on a train severely limits the possibilities for variations because of the naturally-cramped confines of the train carraige.

True. But if you confine yourself to the dynamic between two people, it´s a bit easier. Take the Grant/Bond fight. But you´re right, about the complications on writing action scenes and about XMen1class.

If the train stunt from India takes place in Turkey, then I don't think it's going to be the pre-title sequence. It's going to be a centrepiece for the film simply because it will be one of the most ambitious stunt sequences ever conceived, and so putting it at the start means the rest of the film would have a hard act to follow.

Something that I've always wanted to see from a Bond film is something that George Clooney did in THE AMERICAN and Nathan Fillion did in the "Firefly" episode Serenity: shoot first, and don't even bother asking questions. Clooney kills the villain of THE AMERICAN without so much as a word, but Fillion takes it up to eleven: a crooked lawman is holding one of his crew hostage and while everyone deliberates over what to do Fillion - who is rather pissed off that an earlier deal didn't go according to plan - simply walks in, pulls his gun and shoots said crooked law enforcer in he head without so much as breaking his stride. It's totally badass, and one of those moments that really defines his character.

So I'd like to see something along those lines: a smash-and-grab raid. Bond boards the train, and one of the villans - Ola Rapace - tries to ambush him, but Bond kills him and simply keeps walking.

Noooo, i really hope this is NOT the showstopping moment. We've seen Bond on a bike in TND, in QOS.

I'm hoping for a different stunt to be the showstopping moment, like Bond using some goon's body as a crashmat or something. Ugh, bad example....

I don't know how he'd jump up onto the second bridge, but it does kind of make sense. If Bond were following the villains and they had a significant head-start, he could use the train as a shortcut.

However, the early reports of the planned sequence suggested Bond would jump from bridge to train, then ditch the motorcycle and jump onto a second train before jumping off the second train into a nearby body of water (I suspect something was left out here - there must be something on one of the trains that Bond needs to get to).

They're going to need someone good - jumping one moving vehicle onto another moving vehicle is perhaps the most dangerous stunt imagineable.
